Expect possible player contact at the Railyard Nomad Camp. A recent guide describes the Railyard on Pendola Pass as a high-traffic area, but that is a qualitative warning—not an official encounter rate or a guarantee that another Raider will be present. Reach the underground camp from the western side toward the Transit Tunnel, follow your live quest marker if the geometry differs, secure the Equatorial Sundial, and keep it safe until you extract after visiting the Old Town church.
The safest mindset is to treat the trip as an item-recovery run: prepare to break contact, take a fight only when it protects your exit, and never assume that an apparently quiet approach will remain quiet.

What the Clean Hands run actually requires
The Nomad Camp is not a separate surface settlement. It is an underground location beneath the Railyard on Pendola Pass. The Clean Hands objective is a multi-stage retrieval run:
- Enter Pendola Pass and reach the Railyard.
- Find the underground Nomad Camp.
- Search the camp for the Equatorial Sundial.
- Take the sundial to the church in Old Town.
- Extract while still carrying the objective item.
The item is the run’s critical risk. A firefight that costs time, healing resources, or your preferred route is secondary to losing the sundial before extraction. Walkthroughs recommend placing it in a Safe Pocket when one is available. That is a precaution, not an assurance that every failure state is prevented, so continue to play as though the item can still be lost.

Weapons and healing supplies are sensible preparation mentioned by walkthroughs, but they are not documented as mandatory quest mechanics. The available evidence does not establish a required weapon, a required augment, a best squad size, or a proven optimal playstyle.
Why the Railyard is dangerous
The October 9, 2026 guide that describes this route calls the Railyard a high-traffic area where players often cross paths. No source supplies a measured probability for an encounter, a survival percentage, or a verified “quiet” time. Use “high traffic” to set your expectations, not to calculate odds.
There are two different kinds of threat in this run:
- Other Raiders: human players who may be pursuing the same objective, passing through the Railyard, or reacting to noise and movement.
- ARC machines: environmental enemies on Pendola Pass, including the Bully, Skulker, and Hydra identified in the official Frozen Trail 2.0 materials.
Their behaviors and countermeasures should not be conflated. Advice for surviving a Bully does not tell you how to win a player-versus-player encounter, and a successful fight against another Raider does not make the ARC enemies harmless.
Orient yourself before entering the camp
Use the western approach as your starting landmark
Recent location guidance places the access to the underground camp on the western side of the Railyard, toward the Transit Tunnel. Descriptions vary between a pipe and a passage. Treat those as visual landmarks for the same general approach rather than as an immutable, frame-perfect route.
Map collision and clipping issues were mentioned in the official Frozen Trail 2.0 notes published October 8, 2026. If a familiar opening appears blocked, sits at a slightly different angle, or does not match a screenshot, do not force the old geometry. Check the live quest marker, reorient toward the Transit Tunnel, and search the western edge again.
Let the live quest marker override an old screenshot
Patch changes, instance variation, and camera perspective can make a pipe look like a corridor or make a corridor seem to terminate earlier than expected. The marker is the most useful authority during your current run. Use the Railyard, western side, and Transit Tunnel as broad anchors, then let the marker determine the final turn.

Plan the return before you descend
Do not enter the camp without knowing which direction leads back toward the Railyard and which side of the map points toward Old Town. A retrieval item changes the value of every detour: after finding the sundial, a familiar exit with more exposure may be preferable to an unexplored shortcut whose safety you cannot judge.
Preparation that supports a safe extraction
Preparation should serve three decisions: whether you can survive a short fight, whether you can disengage, and whether you can preserve the sundial after finding it.
Bring a workable combat baseline
- Carry a weapon you can use confidently at the ranges you expect around rail cars, structures, and the camp entrance.
- Bring healing for the approach and the trip out, not only for the first engagement.
- Reserve enough ammunition or other combat resources to handle an ARC interruption after a player encounter.
- Keep inventory space available for the Equatorial Sundial and any item-management step required by your current objective.
These are practical precautions, not quest requirements verified by official patch notes. The sources do not rank weapons or prove that one loadout clears the camp more reliably than another.

Choose a risk budget
Before moving into the Railyard, decide what would make you disengage. Examples include taking an early hit, hearing multiple sources of movement, losing sight of your intended exit, or drawing an ARC machine while another Raider is nearby. A pre-set withdrawal rule prevents the common mistake of converting a recoverable warning into a long fight with no clean route out.

Protect the objective slot
If your inventory offers a Safe Pocket, reserve it for the sundial as soon as the game permits. Do not fill that space with convenience items on the assumption that the camp will be uncontested. The recommendation comes from secondary walkthroughs and should be treated as risk reduction, not an invulnerability mechanic.
Approaching the Railyard and the western entrance
Cross exposed ground in short, deliberate moves
Rail lines and open yards create long sightlines. Move from one piece of cover to the next rather than sprinting continuously across the entire yard. Pause where you can observe the next crossing and listen before committing. The purpose is not to make yourself impossible to detect—there is no evidence of a guaranteed stealth route—but to limit the distance and time over which another player can track you.
Use the Transit Tunnel as an orientation reference
Keep the Transit Tunnel in your mental map while searching the western side. If you lose the marker, return to that broad reference instead of wandering deeper into the yard. Search for the described pipe or passage only after you have re-established the correct side of the Railyard.
Do not assume the entrance is safe because it is narrow
A confined pipe or passage can reduce the number of angles from which you are visible, but it can also limit your ability to retreat. Stop outside the opening, check behind you, and identify where you would go if a player appears from inside or if an ARC machine approaches while you are descending.
Listen for a contact before you create one
Movement, shots, and machine activity can reveal that the area is occupied. A sound cue is not proof of a player, and silence is not proof of an empty camp. Use audio to choose your next observation point, not to make an absolute assumption about who is nearby.
What to do when another Raider appears
There is no source-backed method that guarantees avoidance or victory against other players at this location. The following branches are practical decision rules rather than measured best practices.
If you see the Raider before they see you
- Stop moving and identify your nearest usable cover and your retreat direction.
- Check whether the player is blocking the only known entrance, standing between you and the camp, or merely crossing the yard.
- If the objective can be completed later, allow distance to open rather than starting a fight for no positional gain.
- If you must proceed, move only after you have a clear next piece of cover and a route back toward the western approach.
Do not interpret a clean first sighting as permission to chase. Pursuit can pull you away from the camp, expose you to a second player, or leave you with no safe path after you find the sundial.
If you are surprised at close range
Prioritize breaking the opponent’s angle and reaching cover. Returning fire may be necessary, but standing in the entrance or in an open rail lane to trade shots increases the time you remain exposed. If you take damage and the opponent disappears, heal only after you have moved far enough that the same angle is no longer immediately available.

Do not automatically follow. Mark the last known direction, reload or heal only when covered, and decide whether the player was actually contesting the camp. The sundial objective rewards a successful extraction, not a pursuit that produces no quest progress.

If you have the sundial and contact begins
Your priorities change once the item is secured. Break line of sight, use the route you already know, and avoid adding a second fight unless the opponent controls the only viable exit. A player who disengages from you may be more valuable than a player you defeat if the engagement costs the resources needed for Old Town and extraction.
Practical fight-versus-disengage tradeoffs
No tested comparison establishes one route or loadout as superior. The table below is a decision aid based on exposure and familiarity, not a statistical ranking.
| Approach | Potential benefit | Risk to the Clean Hands run | When it makes sense |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wait and observe before entering | More information about movement and noise around the entrance | Another Raider may reach the camp first, and waiting can expose you if your position is obvious | Use when you have cover and a clear withdrawal path |
| Proceed directly from the western side | Less time spent lingering in a high-traffic area | You may meet a player or ARC machine without having watched the approach | Use when the marker is clear and your resources support a quick run |
| Fight for access | Removes an immediate blocker if the opponent commits to the position | Noise, damage, and depleted supplies can make the sundial leg and extraction harder | Use only when the opponent controls your needed path or is actively attacking |
| Break contact and circle away | Preserves health and ammunition for the objective and exit | The opponent may remain near the camp or follow your movement | Use when another route remains available and the item is not yet secured |
Because the sources provide no encounter-rate data, none of these choices can honestly be labeled the safest in every run.

Bully
The official ARC Raiders preview dated September 23, 2026 describes the Bully as quick and unpredictable. The ARC Raiders team’s guidance is: “Use cover, time your response, and hit your shots; the Bully is quick on its feet and unhinged in its quest.” Apply that advice literally: avoid standing in the open, wait for a usable firing window, and make each response deliberate.
The sentence is official guidance about the Bully, not a formula for defeating a human Raider. If a Bully appears while you are also hearing player movement, decide whether cover can separate the threats; otherwise, retreat toward the route you prepared before descending.
Skulker and Hydra
Frozen Trail 2.0 materials identify Skulker and Hydra among the new Pendola Pass enemies, and the official Trials announcement of October 12, 2026 tells players to learn the tactics of the Bully and Skulker. The available material does not provide a complete camp-specific combat procedure for either machine or establish how often any of the three appears near the Nomad Camp.
Consequently, use the same basic discipline for all ARC contacts: preserve cover, avoid letting a machine pin you against the camp entrance, and keep an escape direction open. Do not treat a named enemy’s presence as evidence that another Raider is absent.

An ARC machine can mask footsteps or gunfire, while a player may use the machine’s noise as cover for movement. If both threats are present, prioritize the position that can immediately remove your escape route. Sometimes that means backing away from the camp rather than finishing the machine. The correct choice depends on your current cover, health, and distance from the marker; no source establishes a universal sequence.

Enter with an exit in mind
Once inside, avoid wandering through every side area before checking the objective marker. The longer you remain underground, the more opportunities there are for another player to arrive or for an ARC threat to cut off the entrance. Keep track of the passage or pipe you used so that the return does not become a navigation problem under pressure.
Secure the item immediately
- Search the camp until the Equatorial Sundial is located.
- Move it into a Safe Pocket if that option is available in your current inventory state.
- Confirm that the objective has registered before leaving the search area.
- Recheck your orientation to the western entrance and the route toward Old Town.
The Safe Pocket recommendation is a precaution from walkthroughs. It does not remove the need to avoid combat, preserve health, and complete the remaining objective steps.

Do not over-loot a successful find
After the sundial registers, extra loot is optional. Every additional container search adds time in a location described as high traffic. Leave if the objective is complete and your resources are adequate for the church and extraction.
Getting the sundial to Old Town and extraction
Leave by the route you understand
Backtrack through the known camp access unless the live marker clearly directs you elsewhere and you have a reason to accept the unfamiliar path. The western approach toward the Transit Tunnel is useful because it anchors both the arrival and the retreat. A shortcut is only valuable if you can identify its exits and cover.
Travel to the Old Town church
The Clean Hands walkthrough route takes the sundial to the church in Old Town before extraction. Keep the item protected while crossing the map; finding the camp is only the midpoint of the run. If a Raider appears, use the fight-versus-disengage rules based on whether that player blocks your only route and whether you can preserve the item.
Extract after the church step is complete
Verify that the Old Town interaction has registered, then move to extraction with the same conservative plan. Do not assume that reaching the church completes the run by itself. The walkthroughs describe extracting with the sundial, so keep it protected until the extraction outcome is confirmed.
Common failure modes and fixes
“The pipe from the guide is not there.”
Return to the western side and orient toward the Transit Tunnel. Check the live quest marker rather than relying on an old screenshot. Official notes mention collision and clipping issues in Pendola Pass, so a changed visual shape is possible.

“I hear shots near the camp.”
Do not infer who fired them or whether the fight is over. Take cover, identify a retreat route, and wait for information. Enter only if the objective value justifies the remaining exposure.
“I won the fight but lost the run afterward.”
A victory can still consume the healing and ammunition needed for the sundial leg. Set a withdrawal rule before contact and reassess resources after every engagement.
“The sundial is in my inventory, but I am tempted to keep looting.”
Leave once the objective registers unless the additional loot has a clear purpose. The item must survive the Old Town and extraction stages.
“A Bully appears while I am trying to fight a Raider.”
Use cover and time your response, following the official Bully guidance. If the machine and player together remove your escape route, disengage toward the prepared western route instead of forcing a two-threat fight.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches“I cannot tell whether the area is safe.”
You cannot establish safety from silence alone. The Railyard’s high-traffic description is qualitative, and no source supplies a reliable clear-window statistic. Proceed only when your cover, resources, and exit are acceptable.
Version context for Pendola Pass
Pendola Pass and its new ARC enemies were covered in the official Frozen Trail 2.0 update published October 8, 2026. The same notes mention map collision and clipping issues, which is why current quest-marker information should take precedence over a fixed visual route. The official Bully preview is dated September 23, 2026, and the Trials announcement discussing Pendola Pass threats is dated October 12, 2026. These materials establish the enemy and version context; they do not establish a player encounter rate, a camp survival rate, or a winning PvP loadout.
One-run checklist
- Confirm the Clean Hands objective and the current live marker.
- Carry a familiar weapon, healing, and enough resources for the return trip.
- Reserve a Safe Pocket for the Equatorial Sundial if available.
- Approach the western Railyard side toward the Transit Tunnel.
- Use the pipe or passage landmark, but trust the marker if geometry differs.
- Identify cover and a retreat direction before entering the underground camp.
- Expect possible Raider contact; do not treat “high traffic” as a measured probability.
- Keep ARC machines separate from your assumptions about human players.
- Secure the sundial, confirm the objective, and avoid unnecessary looting.
- Return through a known route, visit the Old Town church, and extract with the item.
The reliable principle is simple: reach the underground camp with an exit plan, protect the sundial as soon as you find it, and spend resources only on encounters that threaten the route to extraction.
