Bantam is a weapon, not an ARC machine or named enemy. The safest way to survive an encounter is to treat the fight as one part of an extraction decision: preserve stamina, use cover, control noise, heal before you are forced into another engagement, and keep a route to an extraction point. If you carry Bantam, use it as a close-range option according to the current build; if another Raider carries it, avoid inventing a special “counter” distance or damage breakpoint that has not been verified.
What Bantam is in ARC Raiders
Embark’s Frozen Trail 2.0 update lists Bantam as one of the new weapons added to ARC Raiders. The update announcement is dated October 8, 2026 and also mentions a new map, new conditions and enemies, a revamped skill tree, and other changes. That date matters: weapon handling, recoil, ammunition, and balance can change in later hotfixes, so check the live patch notes before relying on a guide written for launch week.

A third-party GAMES.GG guide characterizes Bantam as a close-range hand cannon. It describes limited range and accuracy, difficult recoil control, no attachment support, and a budget role rather than a replacement for Anvil. Those are the guide’s judgments, not developer-published performance figures. No consulted source confirms Bantam’s damage, rate of fire, time to kill, effective range in metres, recoil values, ammunition economy, or a matchup table. Use the description to form a cautious plan, not as a substitute for current in-game testing.

That description explains why a Bantam encounter is not simply a duel. You are scavenging topside while dealing with ARC machines and other Raiders, then trying to leave with resources. A technically won firefight can still be a failed run if it costs your healing supplies, attracts machines, exposes your position to a third party, or leaves you too far from extraction.
Decide what “survive” means before you shoot
There are two common readings of an encounter with Bantam:
- You are carrying Bantam. Your objective is to make a close-range weapon work without allowing every engagement to become a point-blank gamble.
- Another Raider is carrying Bantam. Your objective is not to discover a secret hard counter; it is to survive the contact, disengage when the odds are poor, and extract with an acceptable result.
In both cases, define success before contact. If you already have the materials you came for, leaving is usually a better outcome than chasing a kill. If you need one more container, decide how much risk that item is worth. ARC Raiders rewards returning with resources, not merely winning every exchange.

Match ammunition to the weapons you carry
The official beginner guidance says you can equip up to two weapons and should prepare ammunition that matches those weapons. Check both slots and your reserve before deployment. A weapon that cannot be fed is weight without a plan, while carrying mismatched ammunition can leave you unable to capitalize on a safe opening.
- Choose the primary weapon for the distance and situation you expect to encounter most often.
- Confirm which ammunition each equipped weapon consumes.
- Carry enough healing and shield-recovery supplies to survive a second contact, not only the first exchange.
- Leave room for the resources you intend to extract; a full inventory can turn a successful run into a forced choice between loot and recovery items.
Use a Free Loadout when the run is about information
The official guide identifies Free Loadouts as an option for a lower-risk resource run. Use one when you are learning a new map, checking how Bantam behaves in the current build, or practicing routes and extraction timing. The trade-off is straightforward: you protect valuable gear, but you may enter with fewer options than a deliberately assembled kit. Treat the run as reconnaissance rather than a must-win fight.
Build around an exit, not only a weapon
Before leaving the staging area, identify at least one extraction location and a route that does not require crossing the most exposed ground. Epic’s beginner advice emphasizes learning extraction locations and conserving stamina so you are not left without a way to run. A loadout that wins a close fight but leaves you unable to reach extraction is poorly prepared.

What the available evidence says about Bantam’s role
The GAMES.GG guide’s description supports a narrow interpretation: Bantam is intended for close encounters where a hand cannon’s immediate threat matters more than sustained, accurate fire at distance. Its account of poor accuracy, demanding recoil control, and absent attachment slots also implies that you should not plan to repair every weakness with a sight, muzzle device, or recoil attachment. The guide says Bantam is a budget option and does not replace Anvil as a top hand cannon; that is an editorial evaluation, not an official ranking.

Do not convert those statements into numbers. A phrase such as “close range” does not establish a particular metre threshold, and “difficult recoil” does not establish a fixed recovery time. The live build, input device, range, movement, armor state, and hit placement can all affect what you experience. If you compare Bantam with another hand cannon, record the current patch and test the same conditions rather than treating an old guide as a permanent specification sheet.
If you are using Bantam
Use it as a deliberate close-range choice
Keep a second weapon that covers the situations Bantam does not. Since the available guide describes limited range and accuracy, do not force Bantam to solve every sightline. Move through cover, close distance only when you have a route back out, and avoid crossing open ground simply to create a hand-cannon engagement.
Make recoil control part of the plan
The guide specifically warns that Bantam’s recoil can be difficult to control. Practice the weapon’s recovery in a safe setting and learn how quickly your reticle returns after a shot. In a live encounter, favor a stable stance and a controlled rhythm over panic firing. This is handling advice, not a promise of a particular shot pattern; the current patch should decide what you actually observe.
Do not count on attachments
The same guide reports that Bantam has no attachment support. Build your decision around the weapon as it exists, rather than saving a slot or resource for an upgrade that cannot be installed. Improve the surrounding plan instead: choose a complementary second weapon, carry recovery items, and approach through cover.

- Prefer a contact where you can break line of sight immediately after firing.
- Avoid initiating across a long, exposed lane when a different route is available.
- Do not pursue a retreating Raider into an area you have not checked for ARC activity or a third party.
- After an exchange, reassess your health, shield, ammunition, noise, and extraction route before looting.
If another Raider has Bantam
What is verified and what is not
No consulted source provides a Bantam-specific counter-build, damage breakpoint, time-to-kill value, or exact distance at which the weapon becomes ineffective. It would be misleading to tell you that standing at a particular number of metres guarantees safety or that one armor choice automatically defeats it. Use general extraction tactics instead of a fictional hard counter
Apply the official survival principles: get out of the open, preserve a stamina reserve, and keep a route that leads either to cover or to extraction. If the other player has the better position, disengagement is a valid win. Rotate rather than sprinting in a straight line until your stamina is empty, and avoid turning a short contact into a prolonged chase that advertises both players to ARC machines.
Separate theory from confirmed matchup data
It is reasonable to infer that a weapon described as close-range and difficult to control may be less comfortable in a long, exposed exchange. That is an inference, not a tested Bantam matchup result. Use it to prefer cover and separation when the terrain allows, but do not stand in the open because you believe a distance alone makes you safe. The opponent may have a second weapon, a teammate, or a route that changes the engagement.
A step-by-step response when Bantam appears
- Break the first line of sight. Move behind solid cover or into a route with multiple exits. Do not remain exposed while deciding whether to fight.
- Check your immediate resources. Note health, shield, ammunition, stamina, and the location of your next usable cover. If any are critically low, prioritize escape.
- Listen for the wider fight. Gunfire and movement can attract attention. Determine whether ARC machines or another Raider are entering the area before committing.
- Choose fight, reposition, or leave. Fight only when the terrain and resources support it. Reposition if you can gain cover or a safer angle. Leave if the route is becoming a trap.
- Use the weapon you brought for the actual distance. A Bantam carrier should not insist on a long shot; a player facing Bantam should not volunteer for a point-blank corner if a safe rotation exists.
- Recover before looting. Heal, recharge, reload, and check your surroundings. A container can wait; a second attacker may not.
- Recalculate extraction. The fight may have changed your position, stamina, noise level, and available route. Select the safest remaining extraction plan rather than automatically returning to the original path.
Cover, stamina, and movement decide more than bravado
Epic’s guide advises using available cover and routes while conserving stamina. Stamina restores gradually while standing, walking, or crouching, so continuous sprinting is not always the fastest way to remain alive. Move between protected positions, pause where the environment permits recovery, and keep enough stamina for the final break toward cover or extraction.
Open ground is dangerous for a simple reason: it removes your options. A Bantam user may need to close distance, while a target may need to create separation, but either plan fails if the only movement is a straight sprint with no stamina left. Before crossing, identify where you will stop, where you can turn, and which route remains if a machine or third player appears.
Noise changes the encounter
Searching most containers takes several seconds and creates noise, according to the official beginner guidance. That makes looting a decision rather than an automatic action after every fight. If you have just exchanged fire, ask whether the container contains something worth advertising your position for. Search from cover when possible, and stop if new footsteps, machine audio, or gunfire suggests that the area is no longer quiet.
The guide also notes that ARC can alert other machines after spotting a player. A machine response can turn a two-player contact into a three-way problem. Avoid assuming that the other Raider is your only threat, especially after loud combat or while moving through a location with limited exits.

Heal, recharge, and revive before the next decision
Health-restoring bandages and shield rechargers are part of the official guidance. Use them when you have enough cover to complete the action safely; starting a recovery item in the open can trade one danger for another. After taking damage, do not judge your ability to continue by health alone. A depleted shield, low ammunition, and exhausted stamina can make the next contact unwinnable even when your health bar looks acceptable.

Reviving in the same exposed position where a teammate fell simply repeats the original mistake.
When proximity chat helps—and when it does not
Epic’s guide says proximity chat or emotes can sometimes support cooperation with nearby players, while warning that cooperation can fail. You may use a brief signal to avoid an unnecessary fight, pass through an area, or communicate that you are extracting. Treat the response as information, not a guarantee. Keep cover, avoid exposing your inventory, and retain enough stamina to leave if the other player changes their mind.
Silence is also a decision. If the terrain is bad, your team is hurt, or the other player has already fired, attempting a negotiation may cost the time needed to escape. Communication should support a survival plan, never replace one.

The available guide’s claim that Bantam is a budget, close-range option can inform this checklist, but it does not establish a definitive winner against another hand cannon. Record the patch version and your conditions when you test; otherwise, you may be comparing a current weapon with an outdated description.

“I chased the Raider after the first hit.”
Why it fails: The chase consumes stamina, reveals your route, and can draw ARC machines or another player. Fix: Set a pursuit limit before engaging. If the target reaches cover or your stamina reserve is low, break contact and return to your extraction plan.
“I looted immediately after the exchange.”
Why it fails: Container searches take time and create noise. Fix: Reload, recover, listen, and scan the next route first. Search only when the item is worth the attention it may generate.
“I treated Bantam’s guide description as a numeric rule.”

Why it fails: You may reach cover too late or become unable to escape a second threat. Fix: Move in stages, recover while standing, walking, or crouching, and reserve sprinting for the exposed portion of the route.

Also check whether the map, extraction locations, ARC behavior, or stamina rules changed. A short test in a low-risk run is safer than risking valuable gear on an assumption carried over from an older build.
The durable lesson is not a secret Bantam counter. It is an extraction habit: enter with compatible ammunition and recovery tools, fight from cover when a fight is necessary, preserve stamina, treat noise as a cost, and leave while you still have a route out.
