The safest way to play is to treat the live Gate and each unit’s information panel as the authority: banners, currencies, prices, rates, guarantees, and progression requirements can change.
This guide applies to the original Roblox experience published by Top Down Games, not similarly named spin-offs. The official Roblox listing, updated October 8, 2026, confirms the Summon Gate, in-battle troop upgrades, and hourly changes to Gate and Emote Shop content.
What the Summon Gate does
The Summon Gate is the game’s central way to unlock new units for battles. From the lobby, open the Gate and inspect the options currently shown on screen. The official game description says, “Summon from the Gate and unlock New Units to use them in battles.” It also says that new things appear in the Summon Gate and Emote Shop every hour.

That hourly statement is important: a banner, featured character, currency requirement, or timer you see today should not be assumed to remain unchanged tomorrow. Read the live panel immediately before spending anything.
Use the official game, not a similarly named experience
Search results often mix the original game with All Star Tower Defense X and other community projects. Confirm that the Roblox experience is [OG] All Star Tower Defense and that Top Down Games is the publisher. Mechanics from another experience may use different currencies, menus, rates, or inventory rules.
How to summon a unit safely
- Enter the lobby and locate the Summon Gate. The Gate is the confirmed location for obtaining units. If you do not see it, verify that you joined the original experience and allow the lobby to finish loading.
- Read every option currently displayed. Note the banner or summon category, featured units, currency icon, cost, remaining timer, and any visible guarantee or pity wording.
- Check your balance and the stated cost. Do not rely on an old screenshot, wiki table, or video. The official listing does not publish a permanent summon price.
- Inspect the confirmation screen. Before approving a pull, check whether you are summoning once or multiple times, which currency will be spent, and whether the game displays the result or a guarantee.
- Confirm only after the terms are clear. If the interface is ambiguous, cancel and reopen the banner rather than guessing.
- Record the result in your roster. After the animation, open your unit list and verify that the new character is present, including its displayed rarity, level, and any duplicate count.
The exact button names and screen order are not fixed by the official listing, so they may differ after an update. Use the labels in the current client as the final authority.

What to compare when more than one banner is available
The available sources do not establish two permanent, current banners that can be compared by name. When the live Gate presents alternatives, use the following framework instead of assuming one is automatically better.

Summon rates, pity, and costs: what is actually verified
The official Roblox description confirms the existence and purpose of the Summon Gate, but it does not publish current rates, pity thresholds, currency names, prices, account-level unlocks, or a permanent banner schedule. Those details are volatile and must be checked in the client.
A community-maintained Hero Summon page describes Hero Summon and Special Summon categories and lists particular costs and rates. Treat that page as historical or contextual information, not proof of the terms currently attached to your Gate. A rate is useful only when it matches the current game version, event, and region shown to you.
Questions to answer before every pull
- Is the displayed currency earned in the mode or activity you actually play?
- Is the amount a one-time event price or a recurring cost?
- Does the banner timer expire before you can earn enough currency?
- Is a guarantee explicitly written, and does it apply to one pull, a set of pulls, or a step sequence?
- Are duplicate results possible, and does the screen explain their use?
If the game does not display an answer, do not fill the gap with a remembered number. Save the currency until the terms are clear or choose an option whose conditions are visible.
Putting summoned units into your battle team
The official description says that summoned units are used in battles to fend off waves. It does not publish a universal equip path, slot limit, lock control, or current team-size rule. Consequently, the reliable procedure is to work from the roster and battle-preparation screens visible in your version.

- Select the character you want to inspect and read its displayed level, attacks, range or targeting information, and upgrade information.
- Use the current interface’s team, loadout, or equip control to place the unit in an available battle slot.
- Review the complete lineup before entering a stage. Make sure the newly summoned unit is actually in the selected loadout rather than merely owned.
- Enter a low-risk or familiar stage to learn the unit’s attack pattern before spending scarce upgrade resources in a difficult run.
Because menu labels and slot rules are not established by the official listing, do not treat a third-party screenshot as a guaranteed path. If a button is missing, check whether the unit is already assigned, whether the mode uses a separate loadout, or whether the game has changed its lobby interface.

How in-battle upgrades work
The official listing states: “Upgrade your Troops During battle to unlock new attacks.” In practice, inspect the unit after placing it and use the upgrade control shown during the wave. The meaningful decision is not simply to upgrade everything immediately; it is to spend the stage’s available resources where the next attack or range improvement changes the outcome.
A practical upgrade sequence
- Place the unit where its current attack can contribute. A stronger upgrade does not help if the unit cannot reach the route.
- Watch the first wave or two. Confirm targeting behavior and whether enemies are escaping before committing to expensive upgrades.
- Read the next upgrade description. Look for a new attack, increased range, faster attacks, area coverage, or another explicitly displayed effect.
- Prioritize a functional breakpoint. Upgrade the unit that can stop the immediate threat or cover a missing role instead of spreading resources across every troop.
- Reassess after each wave. Enemy speed, health, and route pressure can make a previously good placement less urgent than another unit.
The listing confirms that upgrades unlock attacks, but it does not provide a complete cost table or the exact upgrade tree for every character. Use the in-game descriptions for current numbers.
Organizing your roster before it becomes risky
Roster management matters because some actions are reversible only with difficulty, while others permanently remove units. Start by separating ownership, battle readiness, and materials rather than treating every duplicate as disposable.

- Battle-ready: units you currently use or are testing in stages.
- Development candidates: units you may level, evolve, or compare after reading their in-game requirements.
- Duplicates: extra copies kept until you know whether the current game uses them for upgrades, evolution, trading, or another system.
- Unclassified: anything whose role or purpose you have not yet checked.
If the client offers sorting, favor filters that expose rarity, level, or duplicate count. If it offers locking or favoriting, use that safeguard for units you do not want to select accidentally, but verify the control’s meaning in the current interface.

Feeding units for experience
A community Leveling page describes feeding units to raise another unit’s level and notes that fed units are removed from the inventory. This is a consequential action: once consumed, those copies are no longer available for ordinary use.
Safe feeding checklist
- Open the level or enhancement function from the target unit’s current information screen.
- Confirm the target character’s name, level, and displayed experience requirement.
- Select one material unit at a time if you are uncertain about the interface.
- Read the preview for experience gained and check whether the selected unit will be deleted.
- Remove any battle-ready, development, or unclassified unit from the material list.
- Review the final confirmation message before committing.
- Reopen the target unit afterward and verify the new level.
Do not assume that a low-star or duplicate character is safe to feed. The current sources do not establish which units are required for evolution, quests, collections, or future upgrades.
Stars, evolution, and materials
A nonofficial Units guide distinguishes star upgrades from evolution and describes some evolution as a lobby process using materials. Those details are not independently confirmed by the official Roblox listing and may be outdated.

- Read whether the available action is labeled as an upgrade, star increase, evolution, or another system.
- Record every required material and the quantity shown in the current client.
- Check whether the action changes the unit permanently, consumes duplicates, or alters its role.
- Only commit after confirming that the displayed result is what you want.
Do not follow a named recipe from a video or wiki unless the same materials and quantities appear in your current game. The official listing does not establish universal evolution requirements or a best evolution path.

How to choose units without relying on an unverified tier list
A star rating or community tier label is not a complete management plan. The available sources do not verify the current roster, optimal team, or which duplicates are safe to consume. Instead, evaluate units against the stage and your existing lineup.
Compare roles
- Opening damage: can the unit handle early enemies before your economy or resources grow?
- Coverage: does its range or attack pattern cover a route that your team currently misses?
- Wave control: does the displayed attack affect multiple enemies or otherwise solve crowd pressure?
- Boss or high-health pressure: does the unit contribute enough focused damage when a single strong enemy appears?
- Upgrade efficiency: do the next displayed upgrades provide a meaningful attack change for the resources required?
These are decision criteria, not claims about any particular character. Test an unfamiliar unit in a manageable stage and read its actual upgrade descriptions.
A routine for new and returning players
When you first return
- Confirm the experience title and publisher.
- Visit the Summon Gate and note the current timer, options, currency, and costs.
- Open your roster and identify units already equipped, leveled, or marked for development.
- Check each candidate unit’s information panel before feeding or evolving anything.
- Build a conservative lineup with units whose roles you understand.
- Run a familiar stage to observe upgrades and resource demands.
At each hourly Gate change
- Check whether the displayed options changed.
- Compare featured roles with gaps in your current team.
- Read the current cost and any visible guarantee wording.
- Decide whether the opportunity is worth the currency without assuming a community rate is still valid.
- After summoning, verify the unit in the roster and keep it unclassified until you have reviewed its information.
Common problems and how to avoid them
“I cannot find the summon menu.”
Return to the lobby and locate the physical or labeled Summon Gate. If it is absent, confirm that you are in [OG] All Star Tower Defense rather than another experience and wait for the lobby to finish loading. The official listing identifies the Gate as the summon location; it does not document alternate menus.

“An evolution recipe online fails.”
Open the unit’s current information panel and compare its displayed requirements with the recipe. Materials, quantities, and even the evolution interface can change.
