To stream waterfall sounds on YouTube Live around the clock, send rights-cleared waterfall video and audio through an encoder connected to YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, then keep the encoder, internet connection and monitoring plan running. You can do that on a computer you operate or use a cloud service that loops uploaded video. YouTube may not archive a broadcast longer than 12 hours, so a continuous 24/7 stream is not a reliable way to create a complete replay.
Before you start: prepare the video, channel and connection
Use footage and sound you have permission to stream
Use your own waterfall recording or media whose rights explicitly cover livestreaming on Google services. Permission to watch, download or reuse a video elsewhere does not necessarily grant live-streaming rights. YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to have the necessary rights for live content used on Google services, and copyright matches can interrupt or terminate a live stream. If you want to use footage or audio from another video, get permission from the relevant rights holders for the footage, sound recording and any music in it. Do not assume that crediting the creator or linking to the source is enough.
Check livestream eligibility in advance
Your channel must be verified and must not have had a livestreaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time livestream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before the day you plan to launch. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s livestreaming setup guide.

Choose an operating setup
A local encoder keeps the workflow in your hands, but the computer and home internet must remain available. A cloud service can keep uploaded video playing without your computer staying on. Either way, plan for monitoring, interruptions and how you will preserve a local copy of the recording.
How to start the YouTube Live stream with an encoder
- Enable livestreaming. In YouTube Studio, complete any verification or eligibility steps and allow for first-time activation to finish.
- Create the broadcast. Select Create → Go Live in YouTube Studio. In Live Control Room, open the Stream tab to create or schedule a stream. Scheduling creates a watch page that you can share in advance. YouTube’s current workflow is described in its encoder livestreaming guide.
- Copy the server URL and stream key. In Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key into the matching server and key fields in your encoder. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Keep the key private; if it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Set up the media in your encoder. Select the rights-cleared waterfall video and audio, and set the output format and bitrate your encoder and internet connection can sustain. Use the encoder’s preview or YouTube’s preview before starting the public broadcast.
- Start the encoder, then verify the feed. Confirm in Live Control Room that YouTube is receiving the stream and check the picture, sound and stream health before going live. Once live, monitor the stream and keep a local recording if you need an archive.
Choose latency for an ambience stream
For waterfall ambience without live conversation, steady playback is usually more important than minimizing delay. YouTube notes that lower latency can increase buffering, while higher latency matters less when there is no audience interaction. Choose the latency option in Live Control Room that prioritizes reliability for your audience, and test it before promoting the stream. See YouTube’s latency settings guidance.

Can you loop one waterfall video 24/7?
Yes, the stream can present a continuously playing video, but continuous transmission is not the same as a guaranteed continuous YouTube replay. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A single 24-hour session therefore may have no complete replay. If a YouTube replay matters, use shorter broadcasts and check that each archive appears. Keep a local recording as a separate backup. Details are in YouTube’s live stream archiving help.
Keep a local stream reliable
Budget for upload bandwidth and interruptions
Your available outbound upload capacity must support the encoder’s bitrate, with room to spare for normal network variation and other household traffic. Test the actual setup before launch and monitor stream health while it runs. YouTube warns that connectivity interruptions can break a stream; its live encoder settings and troubleshooting guidance covers stream health and recommended setup principles. No setup can guarantee uninterrupted service if power, hardware or internet access fails.

Monitor the output, not just the computer
- Check that the video and waterfall audio remain present and synchronized.
- Watch Live Control Room for stream-health warnings or loss of incoming signal.
- Verify that any local recording continues to grow and that the destination drive has space.
- Have a way to notice a failure and restart the encoder or broadcast.
A UPS can keep a computer and router powered through some brief power interruptions, but it cannot prevent an internet outage or protect against a longer power failure. Choose capacity based on the actual devices and power load rather than assuming a particular UPS will cover every setup.
Copyright and monetization: what a loop does not guarantee
Rights clearance is separate from whether a stream is technically accepted. A third-party copyright match can interrupt or terminate a live broadcast, so use material you are authorized to stream and retain documentation of permissions.

YouTube also says repetitive or mass-produced content can be ineligible for monetization. A waterfall video loop is not guaranteed to qualify for monetization, and a 24/7 schedule does not itself establish eligibility or earnings. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies before building a revenue plan around repeated footage.
