Before you start, verify your channel, confirm it has no livestream restrictions from the past 90 days, and make sure you have permission to livestream every song and recording. YouTube does not guarantee that a 24/7 stream will stay uninterrupted.
What you need before going live
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has had no livestream restrictions in the past 90 days. YouTube says streamers must be at least 16. See YouTube’s livestreaming requirements.
- A computer or other suitable setup and an encoder if you want to send a prepared audio-and-video feed, loop visuals, or add overlays. YouTube supports software encoding programs and professional hardware encoders; it says expensive equipment is not required. See YouTube’s encoder guidance and livestreaming tips.
- Music and recordings you are legally allowed to use in a YouTube livestream. Permission to use a devotional song does not automatically mean you have rights to a particular recording.
Clear the music rights first
You are responsible for having all necessary rights for livestream content, including applicable music rights. YouTube’s livestream terms place that responsibility on the creator.

Choose songs and recordings with a valid basis for use
Safer routes include music you created yourself, works confirmed to be in the public domain, written permission that covers livestreaming, tracks from YouTube’s Audio Library, or third-party music whose license terms you have checked. Keep permission and license records. A label such as “free” by itself does not establish that a track is safe to stream.

YouTube scans live broadcasts for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may warn you, replace the stream, interrupt it, or terminate it. A license alone may not prevent an interruption: YouTube says a rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Confirm this with the rights owner before broadcasting. See YouTube’s guidance on copyrighted content in live streams.

Do not use Creator Music as a livestream license
YouTube’s documented Creator Music licensing and revenue-sharing options are not eligible for livestream use. Check the Creator Music usage details and choose a music source whose terms expressly cover your planned broadcast.
Set up a do-it-yourself encoder stream
An encoder-based setup is useful when you want a repeating visual, overlays, or more control over how audio and video are sent to YouTube. YouTube supports encoder streaming but does not require a particular brand or a dedicated expensive computer.

- Verify eligibility. In YouTube Studio, confirm your channel is verified and can livestream. Resolve any restriction before planning a continuous broadcast.
- Prepare a rights-cleared program. Assemble only songs and recordings you can use. If you use third-party tracks, retain the applicable permissions and confirm any required Content ID allowlisting before the stream.
- Create a livestream in YouTube Studio. Open the Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream, and select an encoder workflow. YouTube’s encoder instructions explain how to connect the encoder to the event: Set up your encoder for live streaming.
- Connect the encoder using the stream key and server details shown in YouTube Studio. Treat the stream key as a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast to your channel. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in the Live Control Room and update the encoder.
- Configure and start the feed. Set the encoder to send the prepared program to the event, then start the encoder and check that YouTube receives the signal. Available audio, video, bitrate, resolution, and keyframe settings depend on the encoder and stream configuration. Use YouTube’s current encoder recommendations for your chosen format rather than relying on a single setting for every connection or video.
- Inspect the preview before making the event public. Check that the expected picture and sound appear in the Live Control Room. Listen for clipping, silence, or a mismatched audio loop, and verify the visual is correct.
- Test access and monitor the broadcast. YouTube recommends testing, checking the preview, confirming viewers can open the event from channel and watch pages and mobile devices, and monitoring audio and video quality. See its livestreaming tips.
Plan for a continuous devotional broadcast
A 24/7 stream depends on the entire signal path continuing to work: the source playlist, encoder, power, internet connection, and YouTube ingest. A home computer or encoder that stops, loses connectivity, or needs a restart can interrupt the feed. YouTube’s published guidance cited here does not establish a maximum continuous livestream duration, guarantee uninterrupted operation, or settle what happens to an archive of a 24/7 broadcast. Do not promise viewers that one setup will run without interruption; check the event and be ready to recover it.
Troubleshoot common problems
- You cannot start a livestream: Check channel verification and whether a restriction has been applied within the preceding 90 days. YouTube also states that streamers must be at least 16.
- The Live Control Room shows no incoming signal: Confirm the encoder is running and is using the current server details and stream key for the correct event. If the key may have been exposed or changed, update it in both YouTube Studio and the encoder.
- The preview has no sound or the wrong audio: Check the encoder’s audio source, levels, and playlist output. Listen to the preview before going public.
- The livestream is replaced or interrupted: YouTube may have detected third-party content. Review the alert, check the rights for the exact recording, and contact the rights owner about any required channel allowlisting. Do not simply restart with the same disputed track.
- The feed stops after the computer or connection fails: Restore the source, encoder, power, or network, then check the Live Control Room and restart the feed as needed. A locally encoded stream relies on the equipment and connection that produce it.
