To stream a live show to guests’ audiences, use a live-production service that lets guests connect or pair their own social channels as broadcast destinations. Inviting someone to appear on camera is not enough: guest participation and guest-channel distribution are separate features. StreamYard’s Guest Destinations and Restream’s Pairs support guest-channel sharing; YouTube’s Go live together is a simpler option when you only need a guest on the YouTube broadcast.

Choose the right way to reach guests’ audiences

Start by separating two goals: bringing a guest into the conversation and sending the show to that guest’s own social accounts. A guest may be able to join on camera without their channels being included in the broadcast. Confirm that the service supports both the guest’s intended role and their specific destinations.

  • Use guest-channel sharing when the host and guests want the same live show distributed to channels connected by each participant. StreamYard calls its feature Guest Destinations; Restream calls its feature Pairs.
  • Use YouTube Go live together when the goal is a native YouTube guest appearance rather than having the guest connect their own channels as destinations. YouTube’s cited Help page allows one guest on screen at a time.

Before settling on a service, check the current plan requirements, destination compatibility, account eligibility, and channel limits. These details can change.

How to set up a show that streams to guests’ channels

  1. List the destinations. Write down the host’s channels and ask each guest which of their channels should carry the show. Include the platform and account type so you can check eligibility and format requirements.
  2. Choose a compatible studio. Confirm that the service supports the channels you need and guest distribution—not just guest invitations. Check plan requirements and destination limits on the service’s current help pages.
  3. Connect the host’s channels. Add the host’s destinations to the studio and enable guest-channel sharing or pairing if the service requires it.
  4. Invite each guest. Send the studio invitation link and explain whether the guest should join on camera, connect channels, or do both. Those can be separate actions.
  5. Have guests connect their destinations. Ask each guest to sign in or pair the channels they want to use. Before starting, confirm that the intended destinations appear as active in the studio.
  6. Test the show setup. Check microphone and speaker selection, camera permissions, and the framing each destination will receive. If a platform has format requirements, verify them before the live session.
  7. Go live and monitor destinations. Start the broadcast from the studio and watch for the connected destinations and any service alerts. If a destination is missing, pause to check its connection, account eligibility, or plan limits rather than assuming the guest invitation added it.

StreamYard Guest Destinations: what hosts and guests need

StreamYard lets guests add their own channels as destinations through Guest Destinations. The feature requires a paid host plan, and guests must log in to a StreamYard account to add destinations. The host’s active plan determines the broadcast content; a guest’s Free or paid StreamYard plan does not determine it. See StreamYard’s Guest Destinations FAQ and its guest invitation instructions.

StreamYard’s destination documentation lists native support for Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, X, Twitch, and Kick, as well as custom RTMP. Its destination matrix says Instagram requires a professional account and is portrait-only in that table; TikTok is portrait-oriented. Check the current destination requirements for the guest’s account and planned format before the show. StreamYard’s listed multistream counts are 3 destinations on Core, 8 on Advanced, and 10 on Business; check the current plan page because availability and plan details can change. See the invitation guide and destination compatibility list.

Restream Pairs: guest rebroadcasting and limits

Restream Pairs lets guests rebroadcast the host’s Studio stream to their own channels. The host needs a paid plan. Guests can pair up to three channels for free, and their own plan may allow more. Restream’s instructions say a host can invite up to 20 people and have up to 100 paired channels on a stream. These are service limits, not a promise that every destination or account is eligible; confirm current availability for the channels you plan to use.

YouTube Go live together: a native guest option

YouTube’s Go live together can add a guest to a YouTube live stream without using a separate guest-channel rebroadcasting feature. The cited YouTube Help page says only one guest can appear at a time, so a host can rotate guests but not display multiple guests simultaneously through this feature. The invitee needs a YouTube channel, and the host remains responsible for ensuring the content follows YouTube policies. Check YouTube’s current eligibility and setup instructions in its Go live together Help page.

Prepare guests before the broadcast

  • Send the invitation link and a brief schedule, including when guests should join and whether they should appear on camera.
  • Tell guests explicitly whether they need to sign in, connect channels, or pair destinations; an on-camera invitation may not do that for them.
  • Ask guests to test their microphone, speakers, camera, and browser or app permissions before airtime.
  • Confirm channel names and active destination status in the studio. Check the orientation and framing for portrait-oriented destinations.
  • Agree on what to do if a guest loses audio or a destination fails: for example, continue the conversation while the host checks the studio, or pause the show.

StreamYard’s onboarding guidance recommends preparing guests and checking audio and camera setup. It does not require a particular microphone model; use equipment that gives clear, stable audio for the guest’s setup. See StreamYard’s guest guide.

Common problems and fixes

  • The guest is on screen, but their channel is not receiving the show. Joining the studio and adding a distribution destination are separate capabilities. Have the guest complete the channel connection or pairing step, then check that the destination is active.
  • The guest cannot add a destination. Check whether the host’s plan includes the feature, whether the guest must sign in to an account, and whether the destination is supported for that account type.
  • A social platform is missing from the destination list. Check the service’s current integration list and the platform’s account or orientation requirements. A custom RTMP option is not a substitute for confirming that a platform accepts the stream.
  • The guest can pair channels but cannot appear on camera. Pairing and joining are independent actions. Send the studio invitation and have the guest join separately if they should appear in the conversation.
  • The guest’s audio is absent or echoing. Ask them to verify the selected microphone and speakers, mute unused devices, and recheck browser or app permissions before returning to the show.
  • A destination limit blocks the full plan. Compare the host’s plan limit with the total host and guest destinations, then remove unneeded destinations or choose a plan and service that supports the required count.
