How to watch on Peacock
Peacock was the clearest choice for someone who wanted the Olympics rather than a replacement for cable. It carried the Opening Ceremony, live Olympic programming, replays and clips, with an Olympics hub that included an interactive schedule and multiview tools. TV Insider described those Olympic-oriented features.
- Open Peacock in a browser or its app.
- Create an account or sign in and choose an eligible plan.
- Search for “Paris 2024,” “Olympics” or “Opening Ceremony.”
- Open the live-event tile before the scheduled start. If it is not on the home screen, use the Olympics hub or interactive schedule.
- If playback fails, relaunch the app, install updates, check your connection and try a supported browser or device.
Contemporary NBC Select coverage listed Peacock Premium at $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year, and Premium Plus at $13.99 per month. Those were July 2024 prices, not current pricing, and Premium Plus was not required merely to watch the ceremony. See the NBC Select guide for the historical figures.
Streaming through NBC’s websites and apps
NBCOlympics.com, NBC.com, NBC Sports and related NBC apps were reported as additional digital viewing routes. The exact stream could require authentication with a participating TV provider, so do not assume that every NBC page offered unrestricted viewing without an account.

- Open NBCOlympics.com, NBC.com or the relevant NBC/NBC Sports app.
- Choose the Olympics or live-stream section and select the Opening Ceremony.
- If prompted, sign in through your cable or participating live-TV provider.
- If the stream is unavailable, switch to Peacock or a service carrying local NBC.

Ways to watch without a traditional cable subscription
Peacock
Choose Peacock when the goal is the ceremony or broader Olympic coverage, not ordinary cable channels. It avoids local-affiliate carriage issues that can affect live-TV bundles.
Over-the-air antenna
An antenna can receive your local NBC broadcast with no monthly fee if signal strength is adequate. Reception depends on location, terrain, building materials and antenna placement; it is not an internet stream and does not include Peacock’s replays or event navigation.

Fubo, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, DIRECTV STREAM and Sling were reported as alternatives. Enter your ZIP code first: “NBC” is not guaranteed in every market or plan. Trials, billing dates and eligibility can change, and a payment method is commonly required.
Existing provider login
If you already had cable or a participating live-TV subscription, that login could authenticate NBC’s digital stream without buying Peacock.

Can you watch it free?
- No monthly subscription: An antenna could provide the local NBC broadcast, and some NBC digital streams might have been viewable without payment.
- Free trial: Fubo was reported to offer a seven-day trial for eligible new users at the time, but trials are not universal and may require a card.
- Existing login: A participating cable or live-TV account could unlock NBC’s authenticated stream.
Because reports differed on NBC’s authentication rules, treat “free stream” claims as platform- and stream-specific. Check cancellation timing and the post-trial renewal price before starting any offer.
English and Spanish coverage
NBC provided the English-language U.S. presentation, while Telemundo provided Spanish-language coverage reported to begin at approximately 1 p.m. Eastern. Commentary, presentation and start time differed, so select the Telemundo channel or app stream when Spanish audio is your priority. The Spanish timing was reported by TV Guide.

Use a smart TV, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, phone, tablet or computer browser where the relevant app is supported. Search the device’s app store for “Peacock,” “NBC” or “NBC Sports,” install updates and sign in early. Casting from a phone to a television or using a provider’s TV app were additional practical routes; app labels and compatibility can change.

Troubleshooting before and during the stream
The event tile is missing
- Update the app and open the Olympics hub or interactive schedule.
- Check the device’s date, time and region settings.
- Try the web version or switch to Peacock if an NBC stream requires authentication.
Playback buffers or freezes
- Close other high-bandwidth apps, restart the router and streaming device, and test another device or stream.
- Lower video quality if available, use Ethernet where possible and sign in before traffic peaks.
A trial is unavailable
Do not assume an old offer remains active. Use Peacock, an antenna or an existing provider login, and review cancellation and renewal terms before subscribing.
NBC is missing from the live-TV service
Recheck your ZIP code and exact plan. If the local affiliate is not carried, use Peacock rather than upgrading blindly.
What made the Paris ceremony unusual?
The ceremony was staged along the River Seine instead of inside a conventional stadium. Athletes traveled by boat through Paris during the Parade of Nations. That setting changed the presentation, but not the practical viewing choices above; TV Guide described the venue and coverage context.
