You can loop a prerecorded Telugu devotional video into a YouTube live stream with FFmpeg, but -stream_loop -1 only repeats the file—it does not keep a computer, network, or encoder process running reliably. First enable YouTube live streaming, prepare a rights-cleared source, use YouTube’s recommended ingest settings, and test the full setup before relying on it.
Before you start: check YouTube access and video rights
Enable live streaming early
Your channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube says first-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before you plan to go live. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.

Confirm rights for the whole video
Check rights for every element in the stream: the recording, arrangement, performance, lyrics, and video footage. A devotional or traditional song label does not by itself establish that a particular recording or video is cleared. YouTube says the content provider must have the rights needed to exploit the live content worldwide, including relevant music licensing rights. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions and verify that your permissions cover your intended use and territories.
Prepare YouTube Live Control Room
- Open YouTube Studio and enter Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream, following YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream. Treat the key like a password: do not share it, show it in a screenshot, or put it directly into a script or public command. Use the current URL and key from your own Live Control Room.
- Start with an unlisted test stream if you are checking settings before a public devotional broadcast.
Set FFmpeg output for YouTube
YouTube’s encoder guidance supports H.264, H.265 (HEVC), or AV1 video over RTMP/RTMPS, frame rates up to 60 fps, CBR, and AAC or MP3 audio. YouTube recommends RTMPS and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. Consult the current YouTube encoder settings and bitrate table for the combination of codec, resolution, and frame rate you intend to send.

Use a bitrate that matches your format and connection
For H.264, YouTube’s table recommends 8 Mbps for 720p30 and 14 Mbps for 1080p30; the table lists a 3 Mbps minimum for 720p30. These are settings for those specific H.264 formats, not universal bitrates. Use the matching row for your chosen resolution, frame rate, and codec.
YouTube’s streaming tips recommend leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. Base the decision on sustained upload capacity, not the advertised download speed; account for a backup encoder’s bitrate as well. A speed test helps, but a longer test under realistic conditions can expose instability.

Loop a prerecorded file with FFmpeg
FFmpeg documents -stream_loop -1 as infinite input looping and -re (equivalent to -readrate 1) as reading a file at its native rate. The following is a command template, not a tested end-to-end recipe. Replace the placeholders with your file path and the server URL and stream key from Live Control Room; adapt stream mapping, codecs, and audio handling to the actual media and chosen YouTube settings.

It does not resize the source, so it is not a complete 720p conversion command; match the source dimensions and all output settings to the actual file and selected YouTube table row. The optional audio map means the command can proceed when the input has no audio, but a silent stream may not suit your broadcast. Check the preview and audio before publishing. For other formats, use the appropriate encoder and bitrate rather than copying these values.

Input options such as -re and -stream_loop belong before their input (-i). FFmpeg’s documentation explains the options; their presence alone does not guarantee YouTube compatibility or uninterrupted transmission.
Test the stream and plan for continuous operation
- Run FFmpeg and wait for the stream to appear in Live Control Room preview.
- Check that the video moves and the audio is present, correctly mapped, and at a usable level.
- Play the test from the channel or watch page and on a mobile device. YouTube recommends setting up in advance, checking preview and audio/video quality, and confirming playback on those surfaces. Its live-streaming tips also note that expensive equipment is not required.
- Monitor Live Control Room’s stream-health messages while the test runs. Check that the chosen bitrate is sustainable and that the stream does not repeatedly disconnect.
- Test what happens if FFmpeg exits, the computer restarts, or the network drops. Infinite looping handles the input file only; process supervision, power, network resilience, alerting, and secure key storage are separate parts of a 24/7 setup.
The available YouTube and FFmpeg guidance does not establish a minimum machine specification, a universally reliable reconnect command, or guaranteed uninterrupted service. Validate the particular computer, FFmpeg build, file, network, and recovery process you plan to use.

Plan around YouTube’s live archive limit
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived; that guidance does not promise a complete archive of one uninterrupted 24-hour stream. If a full replay matters, plan shorter sessions or make a separate local recording, and confirm your chosen workflow preserves the material you need. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
