For a local setup, the playback device, power, and internet connection must keep working; a cloud service can remove the need to leave a computer running at home.
Check YouTube eligibility before preparing the broadcast
YouTube’s current eligibility guidance requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. First-time live-streaming enablement can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned launch. See YouTube’s encoder guide and YouTube’s verified encoder list.

Choose how the lessons will run continuously
Local computer or hardware encoder
YouTube describes an encoder as software on a computer or a standalone hardware device that converts video for streaming. For a local setup, the chosen software or device must play the lesson sequence and send it to YouTube for as long as the broadcast is meant to run. The computer or encoder, power, internet connection, and playback procedure all become part of the continuous-stream setup.

YouTube’s guide lists software and standalone hardware encoders, but does not establish a minimum computer specification or endorse a particular model. Before buying a mini PC or hardware encoder, check the selected encoder’s requirements and whether your available upload bandwidth can support the chosen stream bitrate.

Cloud service
A cloud service can keep prerecorded video playing without a local playback computer remaining on. YouTube’s encoder directory describes Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming and says CamStreamer supports continuous 24/7 and scheduled streams. Those are directory descriptions, not independent reliability tests; check current availability, pricing, file compatibility, recovery behavior, and rights requirements directly with any provider.
What to compare
- Whether a computer or encoder must remain powered on at your location.
- How playback is managed and restarted if it stops.
- Dependencies on local power and internet, and what monitoring or recovery tools are included.
- Compatibility with your lesson files and the rights you hold for their contents.
- Current availability and pricing; the cited YouTube materials do not establish a price or uptime winner.
Prepare the lesson playlist and clear its rights
Before scheduling a stream, arrange the recordings in the playback order you want and test that the selected encoder or service can play them. A lesson may include more than a teacher’s narration: textbook pages, diagrams, photos, music, and other embedded material can have separate rights.

Balbharati says its textbooks can be downloaded as PDFs free of cost, but free access to a PDF is not, by itself, permission to reproduce, display, adapt, record, or stream its contents. Its official licensing information describes terms for using physical and digital textbook content, including some adaptations and multimedia educational materials, and says unauthorized entities may not reproduce its content. Check the applicable license and terms for the exact material, use, territory, and monetization plan; also account for third-party materials. Balbharati’s home page is the source for the free-download statement.
YouTube’s livestream terms require providers to have the rights needed to use live content on Google services and to comply with applicable laws. YouTube also scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match can replace the stream with a placeholder, and continued use can interrupt or terminate it. For licensed third-party content, the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; a license alone does not guarantee uninterrupted playback. Review YouTube’s terms and YouTube’s guidance on live-stream copyright.

Create the YouTube Live stream and connect an encoder
- Enable live streaming: verify the channel and complete YouTube’s live-stream enablement process early enough to allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Open YouTube Studio: select Create → Go Live, then create a stream or schedule the broadcast in Live Control Room.
- Copy the connection details: in the stream settings, copy the server URL and stream key. If using RTMPS, reveal and copy the RTMPS URL in Live Control Room and confirm that your encoder supports RTMPS. Use the exact connection details YouTube shows for that stream.
- Enter them in the encoder: add the server URL and stream key in the encoder’s stream settings, select the lesson playlist or playback source, and start sending the feed.
- Protect the key: treat the stream key like a password. Anyone with it may be able to send a feed to your channel; do not publish or share it unnecessarily.
- Check the preview before going public: confirm that the right lesson is playing and that both audio and video reach YouTube. For a scheduled event, test the complete playback chain before the public start.
Scheduling creates an event and can help viewers find it; it does not keep an encoder or lesson source running. The playback source and encoder must remain active according to the setup you choose. YouTube’s setup instructions are in its encoder guide and RTMPS guidance.
Plan bandwidth and monitor the stream
YouTube says the total stream bitrate must fit within available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% headroom above the total bitrate. Treat that as YouTube’s recommendation, not a guarantee of reliable streaming. Check the bitrate settings in your encoder and the real upload capacity available to the streaming device. YouTube’s live-streaming tips recommend previewing before starting, checking the channel or watch page and mobile playback, and monitoring audio and video quality during the stream.

For a 24/7 broadcast, decide who will check playback and what to do if the lesson stops or quality degrades. A local stream depends on its encoder, power, and internet connection; the cited YouTube guidance does not promise end-to-end uptime for any setup.

Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Live streaming is not available yet | Eligibility or first-time enablement is incomplete. | Verify the channel, check for live-stream restrictions in the prior 90 days, confirm the streamer meets the age requirement, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time enablement. |
| The encoder will not connect | Incorrect server URL or stream key, or an RTMPS compatibility mismatch. | Copy the connection details again from the correct Live Control Room stream. If using RTMPS, confirm encoder support and use the RTMPS URL shown by YouTube. |
| Video or audio is missing in preview | The wrong playback source, playlist, or audio/video path may be selected. | Check the encoder’s selected source and playlist, then confirm both picture and sound in YouTube’s preview before public broadcast. |
| Playback is unstable or degrades | Available upload bandwidth may not support the total stream bitrate, or the local connection or device may be interrupted. | Check the encoder bitrate and available upload capacity; follow YouTube’s recommendation to leave 20% headroom. Inspect power, internet, and the local encoder if applicable. |
| The stream is interrupted after a copyright match | YouTube detected third-party content in the live feed. | Review the rights for every included work. If licensed, ask the rights holder whether the channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist; a license does not itself prevent interruption. |
Or let it run in the cloud
