Short answer: You can use a JioPC as a desktop for an encoder such as OBS only if your plan permits the software and the session stays active—but Jio does not document JioPC as a 24/7 playout service. In particular, Jio says a JioPC session accessed through its set-top box shuts down 15 minutes after the box is switched off. For continuous playback of recorded worship services, verify JioPC’s limits and test the complete setup before relying on it; a cloud playout service is a better fit when uninterrupted operation is the priority.
First decide what “continuously” means
A scheduled replay of one service for its duration and a channel that stays live around the clock are different jobs. A single replay needs an encoder session that lasts through that broadcast. A continuous channel also needs recordings to play in sequence or loop, plus a way to recover if the encoder or connection stops.

Jio describes JioPC as an Ubuntu/Linux virtual desktop, not as a dedicated video playout service. Its public information does not establish that OBS can be installed in every subscriber environment or that an encoder will keep running after the desktop access session ends. Treat a JioPC-based 24/7 stream as unverified until Jio confirms the relevant limits and your own sustained test succeeds.
What each part of the setup does
- JioPC: A virtual desktop delivered over the internet. Jio’s published JioPC page lists configurations including 4 CPU/8 GB RAM/500 GB and 8 CPU/16 GB RAM/1 TB; another Jio page describes a different launch/storage offer. Check the current offer on your account rather than assuming one configuration applies universally. JioPC product information.
- OBS Studio: Software that can take recorded video and send an encoder feed to YouTube. OBS lists Linux requirements including an OpenGL 3.3-compatible GPU and X window system or Wayland. It cautions that meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee streaming or recording capability; performance depends on the encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity. How to try the JioPC and OBS method

Confirm JioPC can run the encoder for your use
Before preparing the broadcast, ask Jio support whether your specific JioPC plan allows OBS installation and outbound YouTube RTMP streaming; whether browser-access sessions time out; whether disconnecting suspends the desktop; and whether an encoder can continue without the access device active. Jio’s published set-top-box guidance says the desktop remains running for 15 minutes after the set-top box is switched off and then shuts down. Do not switch off that box assuming the stream will continue. The documented timeout applies to set-top-box use; public information does not settle idle or disconnect behavior for browser access. Enable and prepare YouTube Live
In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and follow the current encoder instructions in YouTube Help. If this is the channel’s first live broadcast, allow up to 24 hours for enablement. Keep the stream key private: anyone with it may be able to send video to the stream. Use YouTube’s preview/control room to confirm the picture and sound before starting the public broadcast. Install OBS and prepare the recording
Only proceed if JioPC allows installation and its Linux environment meets OBS requirements. Add the recorded service as a media source in OBS. For one scheduled replay, configure the source and scene for that broadcast. For a continuous channel, configure the playlist or playback arrangement to move through the recordings and repeat as intended; verify the behavior in a test rather than assuming that a single video source will loop or that a playlist will recover after a failure.

Choose a resolution and frame rate that the JioPC environment and your outbound connection can sustain. OBS notes that stream performance depends on the encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity; there is no JioPC-specific OBS preset established by the available product information. Check the YouTube preview for audio/video sync and stream health before relying on the output.

Connect OBS to the YouTube stream
In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service, and connect the account or use the stream key provided by YouTube, following the current OBS and YouTube prompts. If entering a key manually, copy it carefully and do not publish or share it. Start the encoder and wait for YouTube Studio to show its incoming feed; verify the preview before making the event live.

Test longer than the intended broadcast
Run a private or otherwise suitable test that exceeds the expected service duration. Check YouTube’s stream health, audio, video, playlist transitions, and whether the desktop and encoder remain active. Simulate the access interruption relevant to your setup, but do not assume a set-top-box shutdown test is safe for a live public stream. OBS identifies unstable networks and insufficient bitrate as possible causes of dropped frames or disconnections. A running desktop cannot prevent network-related interruptions. Protect the worship recordings and channel
Only stream recordings your church has the rights and permissions to use, including music, performances, and any third-party material. Review YouTube’s current policies and the permissions attached to each recording; a past service being available to replay does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast it. Keep the stream key private and use an appropriate visibility setting while testing.

When cloud playout is the better fit
A church-oriented cloud playout service advertises broadcasting uploaded past services around the clock without keeping a streaming PC running. That is closer to a continuous prerecorded channel than relying on an unverified desktop session. Before choosing any provider, confirm its current support for uploaded recordings, looping or scheduling, YouTube connection, reconnect behavior, stream duration, archive behavior, and total cost.
