You can broadcast a recorded prayer meeting around the clock by looping the video in an encoder such as OBS Studio, then sending that feed to YouTube Live. You will need a verified channel eligible to livestream, permission for everything in the recording, a stable internet connection, and an archive plan: YouTube says a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured as a replay.
Before you start: check channel access and content rights
Confirm the channel can go live
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. The person streaming must be at least 16. Check eligibility in YouTube Studio before preparing the broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.

Clear every part of the recording
Confirm that your church, ministry or publisher has the necessary rights for all audio and video, including hymns, background music, prayers, performers and any embedded third-party footage. Permission for an in-person meeting or an ordinary recording does not necessarily cover repeated transmission on YouTube Live, worldwide distribution or archiving. Where rights are not wholly yours, seek written permission that covers those uses.

YouTube scans live feeds for third-party copyrighted material. A match can cause the video to be replaced with a placeholder or the stream to be interrupted or terminated. Even if you have a licence, the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Choose what viewers will see

Both options loop files in the encoder; they do not make a camera broadcast live. OBS documents the settings in its Media Sources guide.
Set up a looping YouTube Live stream in OBS
- Prepare the video files. Keep the source recording available on the computer running OBS. Check that its audio is audible and that the file plays from start to finish. If using a playlist, install VLC before configuring the OBS VLC Video source.
- Create a scene and add the recording. In OBS, select or create a scene, then add a Media Source. Choose the local video file and enable Loop. For several videos, add a VLC Video source, create the playlist in that source and enable Loop Playlist.
- Create or schedule the YouTube broadcast. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream using an encoder. Open the stream’s Live Control Room details and copy the stream URL and stream key. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube as the service if available, and enter the stream key. If your OBS setup asks for a server, use the stream URL supplied in Live Control Room. Treat the key like a password: do not share it publicly, and reset it if you think it has been exposed.
- Set and test the output. Choose resolution, frame rate and bitrate to suit the source and the sustained upload capacity of the connection. There is no single safe bitrate for every recording and network. YouTube recommends testing upload speed, using RTMPS and monitoring stream health; consult its current encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions rather than relying on a universal preset.
- Start the encoder and inspect the preview. Start streaming in OBS, then check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before making the event public or directing viewers to it. Confirm both picture and sound, and check that the loop or playlist advances as intended. YouTube’s live-streaming tips also recommend checking setup and monitoring the stream.
- End deliberately if you stop the event. When you intend to finish a broadcast, stop it in the encoder and confirm the event has ended in Live Control Room. If the channel is meant to remain continuously available, make sure the encoder and source remain running; a computer-based setup depends on that machine and its connection staying available.
Plan separately for continuous viewing and replay
A 24/7 live endpoint is not the same thing as a guaranteed single replay file. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. It recommends keeping a local archive if you need a dependable copy. If retention matters, record locally and test how your organization will preserve and publish that copy. A long-running stream should not be your only source of the meeting recording. The cited YouTube guidance does not establish a seamless automatic daily restart workflow, so do not assume that dividing a broadcast into sessions will happen without planning and supervision.

YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the provider to hold necessary worldwide rights for live and archived content, including music rights, and to comply with applicable laws and regulatory requirements in the territories where the stream is made available. The platform information cited here does not determine which Indian broadcast or other regulatory approvals, if any, apply to a particular church or ministry’s YouTube stream. Requirements may depend on the organization, content and distribution. Do not assume a repeated recording will earn money
Eligible YouTube Partner Program channels may have live ads, Super Chat, Super Stickers or memberships available, but eligibility, feature availability and earnings are not guaranteed; ad delivery depends on YouTube’s systems and other factors. YouTube’s July 15, 2025 monetization-policy update says repetitive or mass-produced material is ineligible under its inauthentic-content policy. That does not establish that every prayer stream is automatically disqualified—or automatically eligible. The review depends on the channel’s content, so build around distinctive, original ministry programming and check the current YouTube channel monetization policies before relying on revenue.
