You can send a prerecorded unboxing video to YouTube Live by creating an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, then using software or hardware that plays the file as the encoder’s outgoing video and audio. YouTube’s setup guidance explains how to connect an encoder; it does not provide a repeat-playback recipe or expressly say whether a continuously repeated prerecorded loop is permitted. Treat a 24/7 loop as an unconfirmed format, check current YouTube policies for your specific use, and do not assume one stream session can run or archive for 24 hours.
Before you start
- Check eligibility: YouTube says live streaming requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days; the minimum age is 16. Follow YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance to enable the feature.
- Confirm your rights: Make sure you have permission for the unboxing footage and every other element in the stream, including music, product clips, graphics and audio. Being prerecorded or featuring a product does not remove copyright obligations.
- Choose a playback-and-encoding setup: The computer or hardware encoder must be able to play or ingest the recording and send it to YouTube continuously. YouTube’s instructions cover stream destination and key setup, not a particular software player or loop configuration.
- Plan to monitor the broadcast: YouTube recommends monitoring audio and video quality. Neither an encoder setup nor a repeated file guarantees an uninterrupted broadcast.
Set up a prerecorded video as a YouTube Live feed
- Verify live streaming is enabled. Sign in to YouTube and complete the channel verification and eligibility steps described in Get started with live streaming. If the channel is restricted, resolve that before planning a broadcast.
- Review rights and Content ID risk. YouTube’s livestream terms say: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” Read the full Livestream terms and conditions. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match may replace the stream with a placeholder, and continued use can lead to interruption or termination. A license alone may not prevent an interruption if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
- Create or schedule the stream in YouTube Studio. Choose an encoder-compatible stream setup in Live Control Room. Copy the server URL and stream key shown there into your encoder. Treat the key like a password: it is the destination credential that lets the encoder send video to your stream.
- Configure the encoder to play the recording. Select the unboxing file as the encoder’s outgoing source. For a loop, the playback tool or encoder must support repeating the file; YouTube’s encoder setup page does not explain how to configure repeat playback. Check that the outgoing feed includes the intended audio and video before starting.
- Set delivery and encoding options. Use RTMPS if your encoder supports it; YouTube describes it as an encrypted extension of RTMP. For general encoder settings, YouTube lists CBR encoding and recommends a two-second keyframe frequency, with a maximum of four seconds. Choose a bitrate appropriate to the selected resolution and your connection using YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrate and resolution guidance, rather than applying one bitrate to every setup. HLS is another ingestion option for some capabilities and codecs, but YouTube notes that it has higher latency than RTMP.
- Preview, then go live. Check the incoming feed in Live Control Room for picture, sound, framing and playback before starting the encoder and going live. YouTube recommends monitoring the broadcast continuously; have someone check it if the stream is unattended.
Software or hardware encoder?

YouTube says expensive equipment is not necessary to get started and supports software encoding as an option. The cited guidance does not identify a specific computer, encoder model or playback application as suitable for a continuous unboxing loop. What continuous streaming and archives mean here
YouTube’s encoder help page says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That is an archive statement, not confirmation that a single session may run continuously for 24 hours or that a longer stream will be archived. If you need an around-the-clock presentation, plan stream sessions and archives separately, and verify current YouTube guidance for your format.

The official pages referenced here do not expressly approve or prohibit continuously repeating prerecorded video. They also do not provide a complete 24/7 loop procedure or a guarantee of uninterrupted operation. Check YouTube’s current policies for the specific content and presentation you intend to run; do not assume that calling a broadcast an unboxing or using your own recording settles every policy question.

Troubleshooting common problems
- You cannot create a live stream: Check that the channel is verified, live streaming is enabled, the account meets the minimum-age requirement and there has been no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. See YouTube’s eligibility guidance.
- YouTube receives no video: Confirm the encoder has the correct server URL and stream key, and that the encoder is sending the playback source rather than an empty or inactive input. Recheck the preview in Live Control Room.
- The picture or audio is unstable: Check the source file playback, encoder output and available connection capacity. Compare the chosen resolution and bitrate with YouTube’s current settings guidance, and monitor both audio and video as YouTube recommends.
- The feed stops at the end of the recording: The playback or encoding software may not repeat the file. Configure repeat playback in that tool if supported; YouTube’s destination setup does not set looping behavior for you.
- A copyright match interrupts the broadcast: Stop or replace the matched material and resolve the rights issue. If you have a license, ask the rights owner about allowlisting your channel through Content ID; YouTube notes that licensed material can still be interrupted when the channel is not allowlisted. Details are in YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.
- You expected a 24-hour archive: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not infer archive behavior for longer broadcasts from that statement; manage sessions and recordings with that limitation in mind.
