You can stream recorded exam lessons as a continuous YouTube Live feed by playing the files through an encoder connected to a YouTube live event. The practical steps are to confirm live access, create the event in YouTube Live Control Room, send the lesson playback to it, check the preview and stream health, and monitor the broadcast. This is not blanket approval for every 24/7 prerecorded format: YouTube’s rules, copyright checks, channel access and any applicable Indian requirements still matter.
How the YouTube Live setup works
YouTube distinguishes the event viewers watch from the feed sent to it. In the platform’s API terminology, a broadcast is the viewer-facing event and a stream is the video feed transmitted to YouTube. An encoder connects the two by sending the audio and video feed to the event. YouTube’s documentation describes this model and stream ingestion options, but it does not guarantee that a particular continuous prerecorded setup will be accepted or monetized. What to prepare before going live
- Lesson files: Check that each recording plays correctly, including its audio and any slides, diagrams or embedded clips. Decide how lessons will be ordered and what viewers should see between files.
- Channel access: Sign in to the channel and confirm that it can use YouTube Live. If live access is unavailable, resolve that through YouTube before planning a continuous stream.
- Rights records: Review the full lesson package—not only the spoken lecture—for material you did not create or do not otherwise have rights to use. Keep licenses and permissions available, and ask relevant rights holders to allowlist the channel in Content ID when applicable.
- Streaming method: You need an encoder that can send the playback of the lesson files as the audio/video feed. The official sources cited here do not establish a particular encoder, computer specification, capture card or network configuration as necessary.
DIY: send recorded lessons to a YouTube Live event
- Confirm live access. Open YouTube Studio and check whether the channel can start or schedule a live stream. Follow any prompts YouTube presents for enabling access; do not assume a new or restricted channel can go live immediately.
- Create or schedule the event. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule the broadcast. Set the viewer-facing title and other event details so students can identify the class. The event is the watch page; it is separate from the stream feed sent by the encoder.
- Set up the encoder feed. In the Live Control Room, use the stream details shown for that event to connect the encoder. Choose the lesson-file playback as its media source and configure the feed to match the encoder’s supported output and the settings offered by YouTube. The cited official documentation describes RTMP or HLS ingestion options and resolution/frame-rate configuration at the API level; it does not prescribe one universal setting for every encoder or prerecorded lesson.
- Start with a preview check. Start the encoder feed and wait for the event preview. Confirm that the intended lesson image and audio are present and that Live Control Room reports a healthy feed before sharing the event with students.
- Begin the broadcast and monitor it. Start the event from the Live Control Room when ready. Keep an eye on stream health and any copyright or policy notices, and be prepared to stop or change the feed if YouTube flags it.
- Plan lesson transitions. Ensure the playback sequence does not stop unexpectedly when one file ends. If you need students to find individual classes rather than watch one continuous channel, consider whether separate scheduled events better fit that need; the cited sources do not provide a full feature comparison of continuous streams and other YouTube formats.
Copyright, YouTube policy and monetization are separate checks
Clear rights for every part of the recording
YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to have the rights needed to use live and archived content on Google services, including relevant music rights, and to comply with applicable law and territory requirements. That means checking the recording as a whole: narration, music, slides, diagrams, question-bank excerpts, animations and third-party video. Being authorized to teach a subject does not by itself establish permission to reproduce a publisher’s questions, graphics or recordings. See YouTube Help: Livestream terms and conditions.

YouTube says live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. A match may lead to a placeholder image and warning; if the content remains, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. If you have a license for material that is detected, ask the rights holder to add your channel to the Content ID allowlist. A license and a successful live-stream allowlist are not the same thing. Details are in YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams.

Permission does not guarantee monetization
YouTube’s monetization rules assess reused content separately from copyright enforcement. Its policy describes reused content as material repurposed from YouTube or another online source without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value, and says the review can affect monetization across a channel. On July 15, 2025, YouTube said it was clarifying that repetitive or mass-produced material falls under its “inauthentic content” policy; it said this was not a change to the reused-content policy. Neither having permission nor streaming continuously predicts the outcome of a channel review. Read YouTube channel monetization policies.
What creators in India should verify
YouTube’s livestream terms require compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements in the territory where the stream is available. The sources cited here do not establish which licensing, registration, notification, consent or approval requirements apply to a particular creator, lesson package or continuous educational stream in India. Check obligations that apply to your own content and circumstances rather than assuming no additional requirement exists. YouTube’s livestream terms set out the platform’s general territory requirement.

Common problems and what to do
- No live access: You cannot complete the workflow until the channel has access to live streaming. Check the channel’s Live Control Room and follow any platform prompts or restrictions shown there.
- No preview or an unhealthy feed: Confirm the encoder is using the stream details for the intended event, that lesson playback is selected as the source, and that the encoder is actually sending audio and video. Check Live Control Room again before sharing the event.
- Copyright warning, placeholder or interruption: Identify the flagged material, stop using it if you cannot establish the necessary rights, or contact the rights holder about permission and Content ID allowlisting. A license may not prevent an interruption if the channel has not been allowlisted.
- Stream stops between lessons: Check the playback sequence and how the encoder handles the end of each file. Arrange the lesson files so playback continues as intended and monitor the feed rather than assuming an event will remain active without an incoming feed.
- Monetization is denied or uncertain: Review the channel-level reused and inauthentic content policies. Copyright permission alone does not resolve whether YouTube considers the channel’s material sufficiently original or valuable for monetization.
