Use a YouTube Premiere to present a prerecorded concert as a shared event: schedule the upload, share its watch page in advance, and host the live chat while the video plays. The concert then remains on your channel as a regular video, with chat replay available. Before uploading, confirm that you have the necessary rights for the music, recording, performers, and footage.
Premiere or live introduction: choose the format
| Format | Host presence | Setup | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premiere alone | The artist or host can interact through live chat while the concert plays. | One scheduled video event. | A straightforward shared viewing of the recorded performance. |
| Live introduction followed by a Premiere | A host welcomes viewers in a separate live stream, then hands off to the concert. | Requires a separate live stream and, if using Live Redirect, meeting its eligibility requirements. | An event that benefits from a live welcome or introduction. |
A Premiere is YouTube’s documented format for a scheduled, shared viewing of a prerecorded upload. A separate live segment is optional; the Premiere itself is the simpler route for the concert video. Rights clearance applies to the concert in either format.

Clear rights before you schedule
Confirm that permissions cover the sound recording, musical compositions, performers, concert footage, territories, and both the scheduled presentation and the archived video. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions say that the content provider warrants it has the rights needed to exploit live content on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other rights participants.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf the concert includes licensed third-party material, ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube warns that a live stream can be interrupted even when you have licensed the content if your channel is not allowlisted; see Copyright issues with live streams. A license, upload, or Premiere setting does not itself establish that all relevant rights are cleared.

Upload and schedule the concert as a Premiere
- Prepare the concert master. Use the final version you are authorized to publish, and check YouTube’s current Premiere format limits. YouTube says Premieres do not support 360/VR180 video or output above 1080p. See Premiere a new video.
- Upload in YouTube Studio. Add the concert video and its title, description, thumbnail, and other publishing details as you would for a video upload.
- Schedule the event. Choose the scheduling option, set the date and time, and select Set as Premiere. Review the resulting public watch page before promoting it.
- Check the event settings. Make sure the watch page is accessible to the intended audience and that live chat is enabled if you plan to host a conversation. Check the relevant live stream settings and Premiere controls in Studio; available options can vary by account and feature availability.
Help fans find the watch page and arrive together
Share the public Premiere watch page through the artist’s social channels, website, and mailing list. Invite fans to select Notify me on the page. YouTube recommends scheduling at least 24 hours ahead so audiences have an opportunity to see the thumbnail in their subscriptions. YouTube says viewers who set a reminder receive a notification about 30 minutes before the Premiere and another when it starts; these are platform notifications, not a guarantee that every fan will see or open them. See YouTube premiere tips.
Make the invitation specific: give the event time and time zone, explain that the video is prerecorded but the viewing and chat are shared, and say whether the artist or a host will be present. This helps viewers know what kind of event to expect.

Host an engaging, moderated chat
- Be present. Have the artist, a band member, or a host greet viewers and respond as the concert plays.
- Use prompts that invite conversation. Ask fans which song they are most looking forward to, where they are watching from, or what a particular performance means to them.
- Add context without talking over the music. Share short behind-the-scenes details or song notes between songs or at planned moments, rather than competing with the performance.
- Assign moderation. Arrange for someone to keep chat constructive and help the host focus on the audience.
- Acknowledge available features appropriately. YouTube’s guidance suggests recognizing Super Chat, Super Stickers, and members where those features are available. Do not assume every channel or viewer has access to them.
After the final song, stay for a short post-show conversation: answer questions, ask what viewers thought, and point them to a relevant follow-up video or live event. YouTube recommends this kind of post-event engagement in its Premiere tips. The Premiere remains on the channel as a regular upload, and chat replay is available afterward.

- Schedule a separate live stream. Use it for an introduction, interview, or brief pre-show, rather than treating it as the concert playback itself.
- Check eligibility before planning the handoff. YouTube requires a channel using Live Redirect to have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes.
- Set the redirect destination. If redirecting viewers to another channel’s live stream, that channel’s permission is required. For the full requirements and setup, see How to use YouTube Live Redirect.

Troubleshoot common problems
- The Premiere option or format is unavailable: Check the current Premiere requirements and confirm the video is not 360/VR180 or above 1080p. YouTube’s documented format limits are listed in Premiere a new video.
- Fans cannot find or join the event: Share the public watch-page link, confirm the scheduled date and time, and check the page’s audience access settings. Encourage viewers to use Notify me rather than relying on a social post alone.
- Chat is unavailable or not behaving as expected: Check that live chat is enabled for the event and review the applicable Studio settings. YouTube’s live stream settings explain relevant controls.
- A stream is interrupted over licensed music: A license may not prevent automated interruption if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID. Contact the rights owner and resolve the allowlist status; see YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.
- The Live Redirect handoff is unavailable: Confirm the redirecting channel meets the more-than-1,000-subscriber and no-Community-Guidelines-strikes requirements, and obtain permission if the destination is another channel’s live stream. Otherwise, use the Premiere watch page as the direct destination.
Or let it run in the cloud
A Premiere is the simplest YouTube-native choice for a scheduled concert watch party. If you also want an uploaded concert or other prerecorded video to keep a YouTube channel live continuously, StreamNeo is a separate cloud service for looping uploaded videos—not a camera broadcast—and streams to YouTube. The steps are upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on; StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. Any quality up to 4K 60fps streams as uploaded at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
