To send a live source through Wowza to YouTube, create a live stream in YouTube Studio, copy its stream URL and private stream key, configure the matching YouTube destination in your Wowza product, then test the complete route in YouTube’s Live Control Room before publishing. Wowza Streaming Engine and Wowza Video use different setup paths. For a Hindi music playlist, settle the rights to every recording and composition before you broadcast; a playlist or stream key does not grant rebroadcast permission.

YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days to stream live. Check eligibility in YouTube Studio before troubleshooting Wowza. Clear every track for this use
Before airing a Hindi music playlist, establish that you have the necessary rights for each sound recording and its underlying composition, for the territories and type of use involved. A song’s presence in a YouTube playlist, public accessibility, or permission for another kind of use does not establish permission to rebroadcast it in a separate live stream. YouTube for Artists points creators to its policies, including copyright policies; if a Content ID claim is made and you have a valid basis, YouTube says it can be disputed in Studio. A copyright takedown request is a legal process, and applicable copyright exceptions may be relevant in some circumstances; neither should be treated as automatic clearance. Create the YouTube Live destination
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Streaming page. Create a stream or select an existing one.
- Enter the stream details, including title, privacy, description and category.
- Copy the generated stream URL and stream name/key. Keep the key private: anyone with access to it may be able to send video to your stream.
- Keep the Live Control Room available. You will use its preview and stream-health information to check the incoming broadcast before making it public.

Set up Wowza Streaming Engine
Use this route if your incoming source is being sent to a live application in Wowza Streaming Engine. Wowza’s documented workflow sends a single live stream from the Engine to YouTube for delivery and adaptive-bitrate playback.
- In Wowza Streaming Engine Manager, open the live application receiving your source.
- Open Stream Targets, add a target under third-party destinations, and choose YouTube Live.
- Enter a unique target name, the incoming source stream name, and the YouTube application/destination details requested by the target configuration. Use the URL and stream key created in YouTube Studio.
- Start the H.264 camera or encoder feeding the Wowza application so the Engine has a live source to relay.
- Check the stream preview and health in YouTube Live Control Room. Publish only after the expected picture and sound arrive correctly.

Set up Wowza Video
Wowza Video is a separate product and uses an external-service RTMP destination, not the Streaming Engine’s Stream Targets route. Create the YouTube stream first and have its primary URL and key ready.
- In Wowza Video, select the stream output rendition.
- Choose Add external service and set Provider to RTMP.
- Enter YouTube’s primary URL and stream key. Wowza’s guide says to omit the RTMP prefix and trailing slash from the primary URL.
- If using a backup URL, enter it in the same way. The backup URL is optional.
- Leave target username and password blank, as specified in Wowza’s guide.
- Start the Wowza stream, then check playback and stream health in YouTube Live Control Room before publishing.

Test the full route before going public
- Confirm the channel is eligible for live streaming before diagnosing the encoder or Wowza destination.
- Verify that the correct YouTube stream URL and key are in the destination. Treat the key as a credential and do not expose it in a public post or recording.
- Start the actual source feeding Wowza; a configured destination alone does not provide a live picture or audio.
- Wait for YouTube’s Live Control Room preview and health indicators. Check that both the intended video and audible music are present before changing privacy or publishing.
- Use only music for which you have established the necessary rights for this rebroadcast and the intended territories.
