If you mean a live camera feed, use the workflow below. If you mean prerecorded clips played in sequence, do not assume IRL Pro handles playlist playout.
First decide what “vertical video playlist” means
- Live phone video: You film with the phone and send its live feed through IRL Pro. The documented IRL Pro path is streaming to a destination using RTMP or SRT.
- Prerecorded playlist: You want several saved clips to play in sequence and appear as a live YouTube broadcast. The consulted IRL Pro instructions do not document importing, arranging, or looping prerecorded clips. That requires a separate, verified playout and encoding workflow; the steps here do not establish one.
Keep the framing question separate from the content-source question. YouTube’s Live Control Room supports vertical layout options for eligible live workflows, but that does not prove IRL Pro itself creates a native portrait feed.

Set up a vertical live camera stream
1. Check which YouTube route you will use
YouTube’s Android mobile-live route lists a verified channel, at least 50 subscribers, no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and Android 8.0 or newer. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours. These are requirements for YouTube’s mobile route; they should not be treated as identical requirements for an external encoder workflow. 2. Plan the vertical layout before going live
YouTube Live Control Room streams default to horizontal 16:9 and vertical 9:16 together in the dual-format workflow. In the scheduled stream’s vertical preview, set the layout to centre crop, fit to phone width, or stacked, then adjust zoom and position. You cannot add the vertical format after the stream has started. YouTube describes the options in its vertical live-streaming guidance.
This is a YouTube layout capability, not an IRL Pro feature. Confirm the actual preview on a phone before the event; do not assume a horizontal camera feed will frame well as portrait.
3. Configure IRL Pro only with the destination’s correct ingest details
If you are using a third-party intermediary such as Enhanced IRL, follow that service’s own instructions rather than pasting one service’s details into another. Its documented sequence is to select RTMP or SRT in its dashboard, copy the full publish URL, choose the same protocol in IRL Pro, paste the URL, set resolution, frame rate, and bitrate within the key’s cap, then start broadcasting and check for a live signal. The intermediary’s ingest URL is not the same thing as YouTube’s Live server URL and stream key. Enhanced IRL’s instructions are at Enhanced IRL Docs.

Enhanced IRL says IRL Pro supports RTMP and SRT over one connection, not bonding. Its settings and key caps apply to its own service and plans, not to YouTube universally:

Those figures are the intermediary’s caps, not recommended universal settings. Its guide suggests starting at half the applicable cap while moving and increasing only if the bitrate remains stable on a test route.
4. Test the broadcast privately
- Set the YouTube event to unlisted for the test.
- Start the stream from IRL Pro and confirm that the destination receives a live signal.
- Open the preview on a phone. Check portrait framing, audio, and whether important content is cropped or obscured.
- Check the connection and image while moving if the stream will be mobile. YouTube recommends testing audio and video with an unlisted stream and checking network strength; see its mobile live-streaming tips and filming guidance.
- Make the event public only after the preview and sound are right.
What viewers see on YouTube
YouTube says vertical live streams give mobile viewers a full-screen viewing experience, and viewers may discover them while browsing Shorts. In the Live Control Room dual-format setup, subscribers receive one go-live notification and a shared stream URL; mobile viewers in the Shorts feed see the vertical version, while other viewers see horizontal. YouTube says both formats share the same live chat. Combined metrics are available during and after the stream; vertical-only metrics become available 24 hours later. Common problems and fixes
IRL Pro sends video, but the playlist does not play
The documented IRL Pro workflow covers live-feed encoding and delivery, not prerecorded playlist playout. Use a separate, verified playback-and-encoding setup if your intended source is saved clips; do not treat an RTMP or SRT stream key as a playlist player.

Check the scheduled event’s vertical preview and adjust its layout, zoom, or position before starting. YouTube says vertical format cannot be added once the stream has begun. IRL Pro’s own ability to output native 9:16 is unresolved: a Google Play review dated August 16, 2026 reports difficulty finding portrait mode, but one user report is not authoritative proof that the feature is unavailable. Verify the target device and app version. The app listing shows a last update date of September 18, 2024, which is a listing date, not proof that no later changes occurred. The destination no longer accepts the URL
For Enhanced IRL, changing a key’s region or protocol, or rotating the key, invalidates the old URL. Copy the current full publish URL from the service dashboard and replace the old one in IRL Pro. Confirm that the app protocol matches the dashboard selection.

The stream becomes unstable while walking or moving
Enhanced IRL recommends SRT rather than RTMP for street-level single-SIM broadcasting and advises lowering bitrate if SRT remains unstable. Treat this as that guide publisher’s recommendation, not a guarantee: route, carrier, and local coverage affect results. Start below the service’s cap and test the route before relying on it.
The video or audio is shaky, hard to hear, or cuts out
Test the phone, sound, and connection in an unlisted stream. For a stationary framed shot, YouTube suggests a tripod, selfie stick, or similar accessory to reduce camera shake. A phone-compatible external microphone may help in a noisy location; a power bank can be useful for a long phone broadcast. These are optional aids, not requirements. YouTube’s advice is in its filming guidance and mobile tips.
