To stream a prerecorded yoga playlist overnight, schedule a YouTube Live event and send the playlist through an encoder using the event’s stream URL and stream key. Before relying on it, test the full sequence, preview the stream, check the watch page, and plan for failures: an unattended computer or internet connection is not guaranteed to recover after an interruption.
What you need before the overnight stream
- A verified YouTube channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. If this is the channel’s first live stream, activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well ahead of the planned broadcast. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming
- An encoder that can play your prerecorded videos in the intended order and send them to YouTube Live. YouTube’s encoder documentation lists Gyre as a cloud option for continuous prerecorded-video streaming; confirm current features and availability with the provider before choosing it. - Video and audio files you have the necessary rights to stream, including music rights.
- A dependable upload connection with enough capacity for the selected stream settings and some bandwidth headroom.
Set up the YouTube Live event
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live event. Scheduling through the Manage tab gives viewers a watch page and the option to set a reminder. YouTube Help: Schedule a live stream
- Choose or create stream settings. Use the settings appropriate to the encoder and video you plan to send. If your encoder supports YouTube’s automatic start and stop settings, test them in advance; do not assume they behave identically across encoders.
- Copy the stream URL and key into the encoder. Find them in Live Control Room and enter them in the encoder’s YouTube connection settings. Treat the stream key like a password: do not share or publish it, and reset it if you think it has been exposed. YouTube Help: Live streaming with an encoder
- Load the playlist and verify its order. Check that the encoder will play each yoga class and any breaks or transitions in the sequence you intend. Confirm the audio is audible and the video is moving as expected.
- Start the encoder and inspect the preview. Wait for the incoming stream to appear in Live Control Room, then check the scheduled event’s watch page. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder well in advance, previewing the stream, and checking the event on the channel, watch page, and mobile. YouTube Help: Live streaming tips
Check rights before broadcasting
Make sure you are entitled to stream every class recording, image, voice, and music track in the playlist. A license to use music in a recorded video does not necessarily establish permission to broadcast it live; confirm that your rights cover the planned use and platform. YouTube scans live video for third-party matches. A match can result in a placeholder, interruption, or termination. If a rights holder has licensed content for your stream, YouTube says to ask them to allowlist your channel through Content ID. YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams

Make the overnight run more dependable
Leave bandwidth headroom
YouTube says the stream’s total bitrate must fit within available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving about 20% headroom. Network disruption can break the stream. Use a reliable connection, avoid competing uploads where possible, and monitor stream health before and during the event. YouTube recommends RTMPS when the encoder supports it. Plan for interruptions
Keep the computer, encoder, and network powered and available for the entire run if you are using a local setup. A wired Ethernet connection is an optional way to connect a computer encoder, not a requirement or a guarantee against failure. YouTube recommends monitoring; there is no universal guarantee that a local encoder will restart or recover after a computer, power, encoder, or internet failure. If nobody can monitor overnight, choose a setup whose recovery behavior you have verified and consider whether you need a backup plan.

Check the archive duration
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not rely on that automatic archive behavior for a broadcast that may run 12 hours or longer. YouTube Help: Archive live streams
Test the complete playlist before the scheduled night
- Run the actual encoder and playlist long enough to check the whole sequence, including transitions and any repeat behavior.
- Confirm the Live Control Room preview and public watch page show the expected picture and sound.
- Check stream health and whether the connection has enough upload capacity with headroom.
- Verify the stream key, schedule, and any automatic start or stop behavior you plan to use.
- Decide how you will notice a failure and who can act on it. A scheduled event alone does not ensure an unattended stream will recover.
Troubleshoot common problems
