Yes—you can run a nonstop GTA marathon on YouTube from prerecorded videos. The practical method is to create an encoder-based live stream in YouTube Studio, add the stream key to OBS, load your rights-cleared recordings as a looping media source or playlist, and verify the feed before making it public. Your computer, storage, power and upload connection must remain available for as long as the marathon runs.
If you do not want a home computer online around the clock, a cloud service can keep the YouTube feed running instead. The method you choose does not change your copyright obligations or YouTube’s rules on repetitive and reused content.

What a nonstop prerecorded GTA stream requires
YouTube accepts prerecorded video through an encoder stream. OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) can send one GTA recording on a loop, or move through a queue of recordings, while YouTube presents the feed as a live broadcast. This is different from uploading videos one at a time: the encoder maintains one continuous live session.

Before you build the marathon, confirm the following:

- [Deep Bass with Clear Vocals] High-performance drivers produce punchy bass while keeping vocals clean and detailed for everyday listening.
- A verified YouTube channel with live streaming enabled and no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube’s requirements can change, so check the current status in YouTube Studio immediately before launch.
- The streamer is at least 16 years old.
- Gameplay and audio that you recorded yourself or have permission to rebroadcast.
- An encoder, such as OBS, with access to your video files.
- Enough local storage, power and upload capacity to keep the encoder running continuously.
- A plan for moderation, interruptions, archives and copyright claims.
YouTube’s encoder documentation describes the key exchange plainly: “You’ll create a stream key in YouTube, and then enter it into your encoder.” Treat the stream key like a password; anyone who has it can send video to your channel.
Clear the GTA footage and every audio layer
A long loop is not automatically safe to broadcast or monetize. Rights must be considered separately for the gameplay image, music, voices, mods and other assets in each recording.
Gameplay ownership and permissions
Use sessions you captured yourself, or obtain written permission from the person who recorded them. If a role-play server, mod team or collaborator imposes additional publishing terms, keep those terms with your production records. Permission to use a video does not automatically grant permission to use its soundtrack or other people’s voices.

Disable or remove in-game radio and other licensed songs unless your licence specifically covers a YouTube live broadcast and its archive. Check music added during editing as well as music captured from the game. A copyright match can place a placeholder image over a live feed, interrupt the broadcast or lead to a strike; the resulting archive can also be reviewed after the stream.
Keep a rights log
For each file, record who created it, what permissions cover it, which music is present, and where the permission can be verified. If you cannot establish the right to rebroadcast an element, replace or mute it before adding the file to the marathon. Test the complete package privately or unlisted first; an unlisted test is not a substitute for rights, but it can reveal a match before a public launch.
Create the encoder stream in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and choose the live-stream workflow for an encoder rather than a webcam or mobile broadcast.
- Create a new stream and enter an accurate title and description. State that the program is a prerecorded GTA marathon and explain the planned schedule. Do not describe a repeated recording as live gameplay.
- Copy the generated stream key. Store it securely and do not paste it into screenshots, chat messages or public notes.
- Choose visibility. Private or unlisted is useful for a technical and rights test; Public is the final setting after the preview is healthy.
- Review the live-control settings for latency, chat and moderation before you start sending video. Use the current labels shown in your Studio account because YouTube changes its interface and eligibility rules.
Leave the Live Control Room open during the first launch. You need its preview, audio meter and health indicators to confirm that YouTube is receiving the encoder feed rather than merely running locally.

Configure OBS for a looping GTA marathon
Install and prepare a clean scene
- Install OBS from its official distribution and open a new profile for the marathon so unrelated scenes and hotkeys cannot interfere.
- Create a scene named for the broadcast. Add a Media Source and select the first GTA recording.
- Enable the source’s loop option if one file should repeat. For a multi-video marathon, add separate media sources or use a playlist-capable workflow and arrange the files in the intended order.
- Enable automatic restart when the source becomes active if that option is available in your OBS version. This makes a source start from its beginning when you switch scenes, but it does not repair a missing or moved file.
- Set the source to the correct audio behavior. Monitor the mixer while the video plays and remove duplicate audio captures; a desktop-audio channel plus the media source can otherwise create an echo.
Match the canvas and output to the recordings
In Settings → Video, set the base canvas to the format you are designing around and set the output resolution and frame rate to match the intended YouTube presentation. Avoid enlarging a low-resolution recording merely to claim a higher format; it increases upload work without adding detail. If your files have mixed dimensions or frame rates, decide whether to standardize them before the marathon or accept visible transitions and encoder scaling.
In Settings → Output, select the streaming encoder available on your system. Hardware encoding can reduce CPU load; software encoding may be preferable when your hardware encoder produces unwanted artifacts. Watch the encoder-health indicators during a long test rather than assuming a setting is stable because a short clip played correctly.
Set bitrate, keyframes and audio deliberately
Use the current bitrate guidance displayed by YouTube for the resolution and frame rate you selected. A bitrate that is too low produces blocky motion in driving scenes; one that is too high can exceed your sustained upload capacity and cause dropped frames. Measure the connection under normal household use, not only at an idle moment.
Set the keyframe interval to the value accepted by YouTube’s current encoder guidance, and keep the same value throughout the marathon. In the audio section, choose a supported sample rate and channel layout, then keep peaks below clipping while preserving enough loudness for dialogue and game effects. Check quiet sections as well as explosions and menu sounds.
Protect the playlist from routine failures
- Use local paths that will not change when a drive is remounted. Do not edit, rename or move files while OBS is playing them.
- Keep all marathon files on a drive with more free space than the source library needs for temporary files and the operating system.
- Disable sleep, hibernation and automatic shutdown. Configure the computer to reconnect to the network after a brief outage and to launch OBS after a planned reboot.
- Use mains power or an uninterruptible power supply where a short outage is plausible. A battery backup does not replace a sustained power solution.
- Choose a scene collection with no hotkeys that could accidentally stop streaming or switch to a blank scene.
Start, verify and publish the broadcast
- Start the media source and watch its preview in OBS. Confirm that the correct file is playing, the image is framed properly and the audio meter moves without clipping.
- Click Start Streaming in OBS and wait for the encoder to connect.
- Return to YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Wait until the preview shows the expected video and the audio indicators respond.
- Check the stream-health messages for dropped frames, unstable bitrate or encoder warnings. Fix the cause before publishing rather than hoping the issue will disappear during the marathon.
- Start or publish the event from YouTube Studio once the feed is stable. Keep the control room available for moderation and emergency stops.
- From a separate device, open the public viewing page and confirm that the title, schedule, audio and chat settings appear as intended.
A private or unlisted run long enough to exercise every file transition is more useful than a short launch test. Include the quietest section, the loudest section and at least one transition between files.

Monitor the failure points
During the marathon, watch CPU and GPU load, temperature, available disk space, upload bitrate, dropped frames and the OBS encoder status. Also check that the media source has not reached the end of a playlist and stopped. A stream can look healthy in YouTube while a local source is frozen, so periodically verify that the picture is changing.

Plan restart and alert procedures
Write down who can restart OBS, where the stream key is stored, and which scene should be active after a reboot. If you use remote access, secure that access and test it before the public launch. Arrange an alert when the machine loses power, the encoder exits or the upload drops; without an alert, a black or stale feed may remain unnoticed.
Handle interruptions and archives
If the internet connection fails, OBS may continue recording locally while YouTube stops receiving data. Reconnect the encoder and check the Live Control Room before assuming the original broadcast resumed. Depending on how YouTube handles the interruption, you may need to start a new live session rather than continue the old one.
YouTube may process a live archive after the broadcast. Copyright systems can review that archive even if the live session was not interrupted. Decide in advance whether you will keep, edit, set private or remove the archive, and retain the rights log that supports each file.

A live label does not change the underlying rights
Third-party matches can replace the live picture with a placeholder, and a copyright or Community Guidelines strike can terminate a stream. A continuous loop therefore needs the same rights review as an edited upload, plus the operational risk of a live takedown.
Why a permissioned loop may still fail monetization review
YouTube’s reused-content policy evaluates whether a channel adds significant original commentary, substantive modifications, or educational or entertainment value. The policy can apply even when you have permission to use the footage. On July 15, 2025, YouTube renamed “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material is ineligible under that existing policy; YouTube said the reused-content policy itself did not change.
A silent recording repeated for days gives reviewers little evidence of original value. A stronger editorial package can include an original host introduction and outro, narration between segments, analysis of missions or strategies, chaptered programming, on-screen context, and active chat moderation. These additions do not guarantee approval, but they make the viewer experience meaningfully different from a raw repeated file.

| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check and change |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube never receives the preview | Wrong stream key, wrong server selection, or OBS has not started sending | Copy the key again from the correct YouTube event, paste it into OBS’s stream settings, start streaming, and watch the Live Control Room for a new connection. |
| Preview is visible but audio is silent | Media-source audio is disabled, muted, routed to another device, or duplicated and then suppressed | Play the source in OBS, inspect the mixer meters, unmute the source, select the intended monitoring device, and remove duplicate desktop capture. |
| Video stops after one file | Loop is off, playlist order is invalid, or a file path changed | Enable looping or verify the playlist, test every transition, and keep source files in stable local paths. |
| Frames drop or the stream health turns red | Upload capacity is insufficient, bitrate is too aggressive, or the encoder is overloaded | Test sustained upload, lower the output load within YouTube’s guidance, close competing network traffic, and inspect CPU/GPU encoder usage. |
| Image is stretched, cropped or blurry | Canvas and source aspect ratios do not match, or a low-resolution file is being upscaled | Set the canvas and output to the intended format, use the source’s native proportions, and standardize mixed files before the marathon. |
| OBS freezes after a reboot | Sleep, an automatic update, a missing drive or a changed path prevents the scene from loading | Disable sleep, test startup recovery, confirm the drive is mounted, and open the scene collection manually before reconnecting YouTube. |
| Stream is interrupted by a rights action | Unlicensed music, a third-party match or a policy strike | Stop or replace the offending file, review the rights log, and resolve the claim through the applicable YouTube process. Do not simply loop the same disputed file again. |
| Live feed works but monetization is denied | Repetitive or mass-produced presentation, even with permission | Add genuine commentary, context and programming value, then review the channel-level monetization requirements before applying again. |
Local OBS versus running the marathon in the cloud
Both approaches still require rights-cleared footage and compliance with YouTube policy. The difference is who carries the uptime burden.
| Approach | Where it runs | Uptime responsibility | Control and recovery | Home upload dependence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Cloud service for uploaded videos and YouTube | The cloud keeps the slot running; automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream | Upload files, arrange looping or playlists, add the stream key once, and manage the slot from the service | Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on after upload |
| OBS on a home computer | Your PC, local storage and network | You must maintain power, operating-system stability, storage, upload and restarts | Maximum control over scenes, sources and live changes; recovery is your responsibility | Required continuously while the encoder sends the feed |
For a marathon that must continue while your laptop is off, StreamNeo is the first option to consider: it keeps an uploaded-video YouTube stream on from the cloud, accepts any quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and includes a first free day without a card.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for uploaded videos. It does not clear GTA rights or guarantee monetization; you remain responsible for the footage, music, voices and YouTube policies.
- Upload: add your rights-cleared GTA recordings and build a loop or playlist.
- Add the stream key: paste the YouTube encoder key once in StreamNeo.
- Go live: start the slot and verify the YouTube preview.
The practical reasons to choose this route are straightforward: nothing has to stay on at home; whatever you upload streams at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat slot price; automatic recovery helps if YouTube drops the stream; and the first day is free with no card (one free day per account). The same product is included on every plan; only the billing length changes. Storage is 10 GB per slot, pooled across your active slots, with 24/7 looping and playlists and support from the StreamNeo team.

Questions to settle before you publish
- Have you muted or licensed every song, radio track and collaborator voice?
- Can the channel explain what is original about the marathon beyond repeating a recording?
- Will someone notice a stopped encoder, silent source or rights action quickly?
- Is the title honest about prerecorded content and the expected schedule?
- Do you know whether the archive will remain public after the live session?
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I call a prerecorded GTA loop “live gameplay”?
No. Label it as a prerecorded marathon or similar schedule. The encoder connection is live, but the gameplay was recorded earlier.
Does an unlisted test prevent a copyright claim later?
No. It only lets you find technical or rights problems before a public launch. You still need permission for every element and can be reviewed during the live session or on its archive.
What happens if one video in my playlist is missing?
The media source can stop or show an error, depending on your OBS setup. Keep paths stable, test every transition, and remove missing files before publishing.
Can a cloud host make my channel eligible for monetization?
No. Hosting changes where the encoder runs; YouTube still evaluates copyright, reused or inauthentic content and channel-level monetization requirements.
Should I keep the live archive public?
Choose based on your rights records, claims and programming goals. YouTube may process and review the archive after the stream, so decide in advance whether to keep it public, edit it, set it private or remove it.
