To broadcast a prerecorded yoga video as a YouTube Live stream, run it through OBS Studio on a computer: add the video as a Media Source, enable Loop, connect OBS to a YouTube stream key, and set a bitrate your tested upload connection can sustain. YouTube Live’s viewer-side loop button only repeats playback for one viewer; it does not create a live broadcast.
Before you set up OBS
Make sure the channel can livestream
Your YouTube channel must be verified and eligible for live streaming, with no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before your planned session. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup guide.

Prepare the video and rights
Keep the yoga recording available as a local file on the computer running OBS. Confirm you have the rights to broadcast the video, music, voiceover, and any other audio or visuals live. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches; it may replace matched content with a placeholder or interrupt or terminate the stream. If you have a license for third-party material, ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. An archived stream can also receive a Content ID claim after it ends. Details: YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
Loop one yoga video with OBS
- Create the YouTube stream: In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Copy its stream key. Treat the key like a password: do not put it in the video, show it on screen, or share it with anyone.
- Make an OBS scene: In OBS, create or select a scene, then use the Sources panel’s add control and choose Media Source. Give the source a recognizable name, select the local video file, and turn on Loop in the source properties. OBS documents this control as replaying the file after playback finishes. See OBS Project’s Media Sources reference.
- Check the scene: Confirm that the video appears in the OBS preview and that its audio is present at a suitable level. If the picture does not fill the canvas as intended, adjust the source in the preview before going live.
- Connect OBS to YouTube: In OBS’s stream settings, choose the YouTube service or YouTube RTMPS, then select or enter the stream key. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encoder ingestion; it encrypts the stream data through Google’s servers. Follow YouTube’s encoder instructions if the service or key workflow differs in your OBS version.
- Set output and test: Use the resolution and bitrate guidance below as a starting point, then test the upload connection and stream before the real session. Start an unlisted test if appropriate; check the Live Control Room preview and stream health, listen for sound, and verify the broadcast from another device.
- Go live and monitor: Start streaming in OBS and confirm that YouTube receives the encoder feed before starting the public broadcast. Keep an eye on stream health while live and be ready to reconnect OBS if the broadband connection drops.
Loop several yoga clips as a playlist
If you want different classes or segments to play one after another, add a VLC Video source instead of a single Media Source. Add the files to its playlist and enable Loop Playlist. OBS requires VLC to be installed for this source; 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. The VLC source is useful when you need multiple files, while Media Source is simpler for a single recording. See the OBS Media Sources reference for the documented controls.

Choose a resolution and bitrate that fit your upload
Upload speed—not the advertised download speed—is the key connection measurement for sending an encoder stream. YouTube recommends leaving about 20% upload headroom: total streaming bitrate should stay below the upload bandwidth actually available to the computer. Its H.264 video recommendations include the following values; the minimum and recommended video bitrates are not the same thing as a guarantee of stable streaming.
| Output | H.264 video bitrate minimum | H.264 video bitrate recommended | Approximate upload to reserve with 20% headroom, video only |
|---|---|---|---|
| 480p at 30 fps | 0.4 Mbps | 4 Mbps | 5 Mbps at the recommended video bitrate |
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | 6 Mbps | 7.5 Mbps at the recommended video bitrate |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 10 Mbps | 12.5 Mbps at the recommended video bitrate |
The approximate upload figures apply the 20% margin to the listed recommended video bitrate only. Your total bitrate also includes audio, and YouTube advises considering both primary and backup stream bitrates where relevant; leave additional room rather than treating those estimates as a target ceiling. These are YouTube’s current encoder-table values, with no publication year stated on the help page. Check YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrate, and resolution guidance for its current recommendations.

Choose the highest output that remains stable when tested at the time you plan to broadcast and makes posture and movement clear on the screens your viewers use. A yoga class may benefit from enough detail to see alignment, but a higher resolution is not useful if the stream becomes unstable. YouTube advises testing before the event, monitoring stream health, and leaving bandwidth headroom; a connection disruption can break the stream. Read its streaming tips.

What Indian broadband users should check
There is no universal Indian broadband upload tier that guarantees a particular live-stream resolution. TRAI says it does not prescribe a minimum upload or download speed for broadband. Providers must declare typical speeds in tariff offerings, and TRAI says at least 90% of measured test samples during testing must meet or exceed the declared typical speed. It also notes that speed may be reduced after a plan’s fair-usage threshold and points consumers to its MySpeed app or portal for measurement. See TRAI’s BroadBand FAQ.

- Dual band router upgrades to 1200 Mbps high speed internet (300mbps for 2.4GHz plus 900Mbps for 5GHz), reducing buffering and ideal for 4K stream
- Full Gigabit Ports - Gigabit Router with 4 Gigabit LAN ports, ideal for any internet plan and allow you to directly connect your wired devices
- Boosted Coverage - Four external antennas equipped with Beamforming technology extend and concentrate the Wi-Fi signals
- MU-MIMO technology - (5GHz band) allows high speeds for multiple devices simultaneously
- Access Point Mode - Supports AP Mode to transform your wired connection into wireless network, an ideal wireless router for home
- Measure upload speed under conditions close to the planned broadcast, not just at an unrelated time or on a different device.
- Check your plan’s fair-usage terms and whether your speed can be reduced after a threshold.
- Account for other people and devices sharing the connection; household traffic and shared Wi-Fi can reduce the bandwidth available to OBS.
- Choose bitrate based on sustained, tested upload capacity and keep YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. A plan’s advertised download speed is not a substitute for this test.
Troubleshooting a looping live stream
The channel will not let you start a live stream
Check that the channel is verified and has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. If this is its first livestream activation, allow up to 24 hours for access to become available.
YouTube does not receive the OBS feed
Confirm OBS is using the intended YouTube service or RTMPS setting and that the selected stream key belongs to the stream open in YouTube Studio. If the key has been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update OBS; do not leave a compromised key in use.

The video stops at the end instead of repeating
For a single file, reopen the Media Source properties and enable Loop. For multiple files, use VLC Video, check that VLC is installed in the matching 64-bit or 32-bit architecture for OBS, and enable Loop Playlist.

The picture stutters or stream health deteriorates
Reduce the output bitrate or resolution and test again; the encoder’s total bitrate may be too close to or above the upload bandwidth available at that moment. Pause other heavy network use where possible, check for Wi-Fi or household congestion, and measure upload performance again near the planned broadcast time. YouTube warns that connectivity disruption can break a stream.
The live stream is interrupted over music or other material
Review the rights for all video and audio elements. If third-party content is licensed, request that the rights holder allowlist the channel in Content ID; the license by itself may not stop live detection from interrupting the broadcast. Check the archived stream for claims after it ends.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a computer and home connection to keep the broadcast running, StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for looping uploaded videos. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; your video streams as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. The Monthly price is $9.99 per month. Start the free day at StreamNeo registration.
