You can turn a prepared fireplace video and relaxation-sound mix into a YouTube Live broadcast with OBS Studio: create the broadcast in YouTube Studio, add the file to OBS as a looping Media Source, connect OBS with your stream key, check the preview and audio, then start the broadcast. Your computer and internet connection must stay on while OBS streams. For a stream that should keep running without your computer, a cloud service is an alternative.
Before you start: prepare the file and check your rights
Use a video file that already contains the fireplace visuals and relaxation sounds, or prepare the picture and audio together before adding them to OBS. Check that the mix plays continuously and that its sound level is comfortable. If you plan to combine clips, test their joins so the stream does not have gaps, abrupt changes or unintended silence.

You need permission for every element you broadcast: footage, music, ambient sounds, artwork and stock material. Read the license itself and confirm it covers live streaming, your intended territories, monetization if applicable, and an archived replay. Keep records of permissions. A “royalty-free” label or purchase receipt does not by itself guarantee clearance for every use.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can result in a placeholder, warning, interruption or termination if the content remains. Even when you have a license, the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist for live streaming. Archived broadcasts can also receive Content ID claims after the stream ends. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Set up YouTube Live and OBS
- Enable live streaming in advance. If this is your first YouTube live broadcast, access may take 24 hours to activate, according to Google’s Full Live Production guide. Check your current YouTube Studio status before planning the stream.
- Create the broadcast. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Add an accurate title and description, and select the audience and privacy settings that fit the content.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, choose YouTube or YouTube RTMPS as the streaming service and connect the broadcast using its stream key. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, show it on screen or share it in chat. If exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio.
- Add the fireplace video. In OBS, add a Media Source, select the prepared file and enable its loop option. For a playlist made from several prepared clips, verify the transitions and audio levels before broadcasting.
- Check the encoder settings. Resolution, frame rate, bitrate and keyframe interval should follow YouTube’s current encoder guidance for the selected stream quality. These settings can change; check the live guidance in YouTube Studio rather than relying on old example values. The cited looping walkthrough mentions H.264, CBR, a two-second keyframe interval and example bitrates, but those recommendations should not be treated as current universal settings.
- Send a preview before going live. Start streaming from OBS, then inspect the Live Control Room preview and stream health. Confirm that the picture is moving and that the relaxation audio is audible and balanced. Use YouTube’s Go Live control if the broadcast settings require it.
- Keep the local setup running. For an OBS stream, keep the computer, OBS, power and network connection available. If it should continue unattended, prevent sleep or automatic shutdown and monitor the stream when possible.
Plan for long streams and replays
Google’s Full Live Production guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived and recommends manually recording and uploading streams longer than 12 hours. If you need a replay of a longer broadcast, plan a separate recording rather than assuming YouTube will preserve it automatically. Any archived replay remains subject to copyright and Content ID claims.
Choose between OBS and a cloud stream

The preview has no picture or is not looping
Confirm that the correct file is selected in the OBS Media Source and that its loop option is enabled. Check that OBS is sending and that the Live Control Room preview has loaded before using Go Live.
The preview has no sound or the mix sounds wrong
Check that the file contains the intended audio, that the OBS audio meter responds during playback, and that the audio is not muted or routed incorrectly. Listen to the preview before going live; for multiple clips, check levels and transitions across the playlist.

YouTube warns about or interrupts the stream
Review the matched content notice and identify the specific visual or audio element involved. Confirm your license covers live streaming and the replay, and contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting where appropriate. Permission does not guarantee that YouTube will not interrupt a matched stream.

The local stream stops unexpectedly
Check whether the computer slept, OBS closed, power was interrupted or the network connection dropped. For a local setup, disable sleep for the intended broadcast period and verify that the encoder and connection stay active. A cloud service avoids dependence on the home computer, but copyright and YouTube platform rules still apply.
