YouTube Studio supplies the stream URL and key, but its documented workflow does not provide a control to automatically play every file in an arbitrary folder. You need a separate playback-and-encoding setup, or specialized hardware with scheduled playback.
What you need to stream prerecorded videos
Think of the setup as two jobs: a player selects and plays the videos in order, while an encoder sends that playback as a live stream. YouTube lists encoder streaming as one of its streaming methods, alongside mobile and webcam streaming; for computer-based prerecorded video, the encoder workflow is the relevant option. YouTube’s documented Studio instructions explain how to connect an encoder, but do not establish a universal local-folder queue or autoplay feature. YouTube’s computer live-streaming guidance
Choose an encoder and playback method that support the sequence or scheduling you want. Their specific menus and folder-automation features vary, so verify those capabilities for the software and operating system you plan to use rather than assuming that selecting a folder will make it play continuously.
Check channel eligibility and enable live streaming
- Your channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, according to YouTube’s requirements for computer live streaming.
- If this is your first time enabling live streaming, activation may take up to 24 hours. Set it up before your planned broadcast, not just before it starts. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions
Create a stream and get its connection details
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create a stream or open one you have already scheduled.
- Copy the stream URL from the stream’s connection settings into the encoder’s server or ingest URL field.
- Copy the stream key into the encoder’s stream-key field, then save the connection settings. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup steps if you need help locating these values.
Treat the stream key like a password: it authorizes an encoder to send a feed to that stream. Do not share it publicly or include it in a video, screenshot, or post. If you think it has been exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder with the new key.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Set up playback and the encoder
- Arrange the files in the order you want viewers to see them. Confirm that the chosen playback method can advance through that sequence and handle the behavior you need at the end of the list, such as stopping or starting again.
- Configure the encoder to capture or receive the video and audio playback, then send it to YouTube using the server URL and stream key. The exact playback source, queue controls, and encoder menus depend on the software you choose; YouTube’s connection instructions do not prescribe a particular desktop player or folder-monitoring function.
- Check that the encoder is sending the intended video and audio. Start the encoder feed and wait for the Live Control Room preview before starting the public event.
Test the stream and check your upload connection
Run a test before the public broadcast. Inspect the Live Control Room preview and confirm that both picture and sound are present, the videos play in the intended order, and the encoder feed is stable. YouTube recommends upload bandwidth with 20% headroom above the total streaming bitrate; the necessary capacity depends on your configured bitrate and any other traffic using the connection. YouTube’s streaming tips
- Test on the same computer, network, playback sequence, and encoder settings you plan to use.
- Keep other upload-heavy activity off the connection during the test and broadcast if it would consume your headroom.
- Use a private or unlisted test where appropriate, and check the visibility and scheduling settings before you make the event public.
Start the broadcast and understand archiving
Once the Live Control Room preview is correct, start the public event using the controls shown for that stream. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume a longer broadcast will be archived automatically. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions

Optional: scheduled playback with dedicated hardware
YouTube names the AJA HELO Plus as a hardware option with optional PlayToStream functionality. YouTube describes PlayToStream as scheduling prerecorded media for direct streaming to YouTube Live without a computer. This is a specialized hardware route, not a requirement for the ordinary computer-and-encoder workflow. The cited YouTube guidance does not establish current pricing or availability in India. If you want an always-on YouTube stream without keeping a computer running at home, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer can be off; the service loops the uploaded video and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube.
