To loop a Hindi yoga nidra recording on YouTube using OBS, add the audio or video file to a scene as a Media Source, enable Loop in its properties, then connect OBS to a YouTube encoder stream using that stream’s URL and key. Test privately or unlisted first. The stream runs through your computer and internet connection, and YouTube warns that broadcasts longer than 12 hours may not be captured in its archive.
Before you start
- Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have had live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Check eligibility in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room; eligibility depends on the channel.
- Have the Hindi yoga nidra recording ready as a local audio or video file. OBS Media Source supports formats including MP3, AAC, OGG, WAV, MP4, MOV, MKV, and WebM on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Use only narration, music, images, and video you have the necessary rights to stream. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a detected match can replace the stream with a placeholder, and continued use can interrupt or terminate it.
Set up a looping recording in OBS
- Create a scene. In OBS, add a scene for the broadcast.
- Add the file. In the Sources panel, select + → Media Source, create or select a source, and browse to the local recording.
- Enable looping. In the Media Source properties, turn on Loop. OBS will replay the file when it reaches the end. Keep the source in the scene that is active during the broadcast.
- Check source activation behavior. Restart playback when source becomes active is separate from Loop: it controls what happens when the source becomes visible. It is not the setting that makes playback repeat.
- Check audio and visuals. Confirm the intended source appears in the Audio Mixer and that its meter moves during playback. If the meter is inactive or the wrong input is captured, open Settings → Audio and select the intended device. For an audio-only recording, provide an intentional visual presentation instead of leaving an accidental blank screen.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, open Go Live to reach the Live Control Room, then create or schedule an encoder stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter the stream details. If OBS presents separate fields, paste the URL and key into their corresponding fields.
- Protect the stream key as you would a password. YouTube uses it to authorize the encoder feed; anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your stream. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
Choose video and encoder settings
There is no one best preset for every computer or connection. Choose the output resolution and frame rate you can sustain, then test at those exact settings. YouTube’s current encoder guidance supports H.264, H.265, and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS ingestion, recommends constant bitrate (CBR), and recommends a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds.

These are YouTube recommendations for the stated H.264 formats, not a guarantee that your upload connection or computer can sustain them. A lower resolution can be preferable to a higher setting that repeatedly drops frames or loses connection. The file may be static visually, but the audio still needs to play correctly and remain within your rights.

Test before publishing
- Set the YouTube stream visibility to private or unlisted for the test, as appropriate.
- Start the OBS stream and wait for the feed to appear in the Live Control Room.
- Listen to the audio and check the picture, stream health, and Audio Mixer. Confirm the recording starts correctly and returns to its beginning when it ends.
- Test using representative audio and movement, and monitor audio and video during the broadcast. A short test before the first public stream can catch wrong sources, silence, and unstable settings.
- When the test is satisfactory, use the Live Control Room controls to publish the stream if it is scheduled or awaiting manual start.
Plan for long broadcasts and local backups
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not rely on YouTube’s archive as the only copy of a long broadcast.

OBS can record locally while streaming. Configure the recording path in OBS’s recording settings, check available disk space for the intended quality and duration, and consider MKV: OBS recommends it because an ungraceful stop is less likely to corrupt the entire recording. Storage needs depend on the actual recording bitrate and duration; verify capacity before starting.
A looping OBS source is not a guaranteed unattended 24/7 service. It depends on the local computer, source file, power, network, and monitoring. If the computer sleeps, OBS stops, the connection fails, or the file becomes unavailable, the broadcast can be interrupted.

Troubleshooting
- The file plays once and stops: Reopen the Media Source properties and check Loop. The restart-when-active option does not replace Loop.
- The YouTube preview has no sound: Check that the source is in the active scene, the Audio Mixer meter moves, and the intended device is selected under Settings → Audio. Confirm the source file itself plays with audio.
- The Live Control Room does not receive OBS: Verify that the encoder stream is active, and that OBS has the matching stream URL and key. Replace the key in YouTube Studio if it was copied incorrectly or exposed.
- The stream is unstable or drops frames: Test the exact resolution and frame rate on the connection you will use. Reduce output demands or bitrate to a level the upload connection can reliably sustain; the recommended bitrate is not a substitute for a stable connection.
- The broadcast is interrupted after a copyright match: Stop using the matched material unless you have the necessary rights. For licensed third-party content, YouTube says the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility for obtaining necessary rights on the provider.
- The archive is missing or incomplete: For a stream exceeding 12 hours, YouTube warns that it may not capture the broadcast. Use an OBS local recording as a backup and confirm it is being saved to a drive with enough free space.
