How to Stream a Church Prayer Meeting Playlist 24/7 on YouTube

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To stream a church prayer meeting playlist continuously on YouTube, create a YouTube Live broadcast and send it a prepared audio-and-video feed from an encoder such as OBS. Before going live, confirm the channel is eligible, choose an ingest protocol supported by your encoder, test the complete playlist and recovery steps, and verify that your church has the rights to every song and recording. A 24/7 setup is not guaranteed to be interruption-proof: local equipment, internet service, YouTube, and copyright checks can all affect the stream.

What you need for a continuous prayer playlist

  • A YouTube channel that is eligible to live stream.
  • A prepared playlist and a visual that can stay on screen, such as a prayer meeting title card.
  • An encoder that can send the feed to YouTube. OBS is among the encoders YouTube lists as supporting HLS output; check that your chosen encoder supports the protocol you intend to use.
  • A stable computer and internet connection for a local encoder, plus a plan for monitoring and restarting the stream if something fails.
  • Permission for both the music and recordings you plan to use on YouTube.

An encoder sends the prepared feed to YouTube; it is not the same as simply pressing repeat in a music player. YouTube describes encoder-based broadcasts as useful when a stream needs overlays or other customized production elements.

Check that the channel can go live

YouTube’s live-streaming requirements include channel verification, no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days, and a minimum age of 16 for the streamer. Confirm the channel meets the current requirements before building your schedule around a broadcast. If you cannot start a live stream, check eligibility and any channel restrictions first.

Create the YouTube broadcast and connect the encoder

  1. Open YouTube Live Control Room. Create or schedule a live broadcast. Use a clear title and description explaining that viewers are joining a continuous prayer or worship playlist.
  2. Select the stream setup. In the broadcast’s encoder settings, choose the stream key and ingest protocol that match your encoder. Copy the key into the encoder’s stream settings, following the current instructions shown in YouTube Live Control Room.
  3. Keep the stream key private. Anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your broadcast. Do not publish it in a description, shared playlist, or public document. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube’s stream settings and update the encoder.
  4. Set the encoder’s video and audio output. Use the resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and keyframe settings recommended for the selected protocol in YouTube’s current encoder instructions and supported by your source material and connection. Do not copy HLS segment settings into an RTMP configuration, or vice versa; they are different ingest methods.
  5. Start the encoder and check the preview. Confirm that the picture, audio, title, and broadcast status look right in Live Control Room before sharing the link or treating the stream as operational.

Build and test the playlist before announcing it

Prepare a feed that can run unattended

Arrange the songs and prayer material in the order you want them to repeat, and prepare a visual that remains appropriate throughout the stream. Check that the playlist’s end behavior actually returns to the beginning or advances to the next item as intended. The exact looping controls depend on the media player or encoder you use; verify them in that software rather than assuming YouTube will loop the source automatically.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Run a full-cycle test

Test the entire playlist, including the transition from its last item back to its first. Listen for silence, clipped starts, abrupt volume changes, or gaps between tracks, and watch for a frozen image or an encoder that stops at the end of a file. Confirm that the stream remains live for the length of the test and that someone knows how to check it and restart the encoder.

For a local setup, the computer, encoder, power, and internet connection all need to remain available. Plan how a responsible person will respond to a computer restart, network outage, encoder error, or YouTube interruption. Testing these procedures is sensible operating practice, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service.

Choose RTMP or HLS based on your encoder

Use a protocol supported by both your encoder and the settings YouTube provides for the broadcast. YouTube says HLS has higher latency than RTMP because it sends the stream in segments rather than as a continuous feed. For a prayer playlist that does not need very low delay, HLS may be an option if your encoder supports it and you can configure it to YouTube’s requirements.

Decision What matters Practical choice
RTMP or HLS YouTube says HLS has higher latency than RTMP and has its own segment and playlist requirements. Choose an ingest protocol supported by your encoder and configure it using the matching YouTube instructions. Do not apply HLS parameters to RTMP.
Single ingest or backup ingest YouTube’s HLS developer guidance describes a backup ingestion URL, but that alone does not guarantee end-to-end continuity. If your encoder supports the documented backup configuration, consider it as one part of a broader recovery plan; still monitor the stream.

HLS requirements

If using HLS, YouTube specifies segment durations of 1–4 seconds, TS segment format, HTTPS POST/PUT, no byte-range support, and a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments. These are HLS-specific requirements. Follow YouTube’s current HLS setup instructions and your encoder’s corresponding configuration rather than trying to apply them to a different protocol.

Confirm music rights before using worship songs

Do not assume that permission to perform a song during a church service also permits streaming a commercial recording. Music use can involve different rights for the composition, a live performance, and a particular sound recording. Whether a licence covers your stream depends on the country, church, catalogue, song arrangement, platform, and how the material is used.

Live performance and recorded tracks are not interchangeable

The Church of England’s guidance says its CCLI Streaming Licence covers live worship music for qualifying churches’ YouTube streams, while commercially available CDs or recordings require specific permission from the copyright holder. It also describes One License as covering additional catalogues. The Methodist Church’s guidance likewise distinguishes live worship coverage from pre-recorded commercial tracks, such as a YouTube backing track, Spotify playlist, or CD, which its guidance says are not covered by that permission and generally require explicit rights-holder permission or another applicable licence.

  • Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft

These are denomination- and territory-specific examples, not universal legal advice. Check the current licence terms for your church and location, the catalogue and arrangements covered, and whether you will perform music live, play an existing recording, archive the broadcast, or embed it elsewhere. The United Methodist Church guidance updated April 24, 2026 also illustrates that permitted use can depend on the platform and source material.

Understand YouTube’s live copyright checks

YouTube says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” If it identifies third-party content, YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder image and warn the creator to stop streaming that material. If it continues, the stream may be interrupted or terminated.

A licence or other permission does not necessarily prevent an automated interruption. YouTube advises creators using licensed third-party content to ask the rights owner to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Check this with the rights owner before launch if your playlist contains material they control, and keep a record of the permissions you receive.

Troubleshoot common interruptions

  • You cannot start the broadcast: confirm channel verification, streamer age eligibility, and whether the channel has a live-stream restriction from the previous 90 days.
  • The encoder connects but YouTube does not receive the intended feed: check that the encoder is using the stream key and ingest protocol for the correct broadcast. Keep the key private; replace it if you suspect it has been exposed.
  • The stream drops or the picture freezes: check the encoder, computer, power, and internet connection. Restart the feed using the procedure you tested, then verify its status and preview in Live Control Room.
  • The stream is interrupted over music: review the notice and identify the affected material. Stop using it while you confirm the relevant permission; if it is licensed, contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting.
  • HLS ingest fails: verify that the encoder supports HLS and that segment duration, TS format, HTTPS POST/PUT, byte-range behavior, and rolling playlist settings match YouTube’s HLS requirements.
  • The playlist stops at the end or has gaps: inspect the player or encoder’s repeat and transition behavior, then retest a full cycle, including the final-to-first transition.
