You can put a Bengali radio station’s live feed on YouTube Live using a software or hardware encoder: clear the rights for every element first, connect the station feed to the encoder, then send it to YouTube Studio using the stream’s server URL and key. YouTube may interrupt a live stream that contains third-party music even when you have a licence, unless the relevant rights holder has allowlisted your channel through Content ID.
Clear the rights before sending music to YouTube
Do not treat a feed that is cleared for your website, app, or terrestrial broadcast as automatically cleared for YouTube. Make an inventory of everything the YouTube stream will carry: the station’s programme output, recorded songs, jingles, interviews, guest voices, and any visuals used alongside the audio. For each element, confirm who controls it and whether the relevant permission covers YouTube, live transmission, the territories you intend to serve, and any archived stream. The station’s actual contracts and licences determine what it may transmit; the available platform and policy guidance cannot establish those permissions.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. It can replace a stream with a placeholder and warn the operator; if the content remains, it may interrupt or terminate the stream. YouTube also warns: “If your channel isn’t added to their allowlist, your live stream can be interrupted even if you’ve licensed the content.” Contact the relevant rights holders about YouTube use and ask them to add your channel to their Content ID allowlist where necessary. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
YouTube’s contractual terms put responsibility on the provider to hold the necessary rights for the live content. Its Live Stream Terms and Conditions say: “You represent and warrant that You have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licences) and any other royalty participants.” This is YouTube’s platform requirement, not a substitute for checking the station’s permissions.

What the TRAI recommendation does—and does not—say
TRAI’s 2025 recommendations on broadcasting service authorisations discuss allowing authorized terrestrial radio entities to stream the same programmes concurrently without user control; they specify that download, playback, and replay should not be available while streaming. The recommendation also retains applicable law, including the Copyright Act, 1957. It is not a YouTube-specific permission and does not establish that an unnamed station is authorized or holds the music rights it needs.
Check YouTube eligibility and choose an encoder
YouTube supports both software and hardware encoders. Choose according to how your existing station feed can connect and what the team can reliably monitor and recover—not because a dedicated appliance is mandatory.

| Path | When it may fit | Check before choosing |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder | A suitable computer can receive the station’s audio feed, and you want to use a computer-based encoder. | Confirm compatibility with the feed, YouTube ingestion support, monitoring and recovery workflow, and the computer and network costs. |
| Hardware encoder | A dedicated appliance fits the station’s production setup, reliability needs, or existing audio/video chain. | Confirm it accepts the station’s feed and supports YouTube ingestion; compare its cost and monitoring and recovery options with software encoding. |
YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. Check the channel in YouTube Studio before a planned launch, as eligibility and activation status matter more than the encoder choice.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsConnect the station feed and start the YouTube stream
- Route the programme feed. Connect the audio output you intend to broadcast to the computer or hardware encoder. Confirm that it receives the correct programme mix and that interviews, music, and any other intended elements are present. The exact cable or interface depends on the station’s equipment.
- Create or select a stream. In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go Live, then use the Stream tab to create or select a stream. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions if labels or layout differ in your Studio account.
- Enter YouTube’s connection details in the encoder. Copy the stream’s server URL and stream key from Studio into the matching encoder fields. Treat the key like a password: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Do not publish or share it unnecessarily.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Send the feed from the encoder, then inspect the incoming preview in YouTube’s Live Control Room. Confirm the right programme is arriving and that the audio is audible and stable.
- Make the stream live. For a scheduled stream, click Go live in Live Control Room once the preview is available. Do not assume that starting the encoder alone completes the scheduled broadcast.
Test the connection and plan the launch
Test the full route before announcing a public start: station output, encoder input, internet upload, YouTube preview, and audible programme. YouTube recommends leaving upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the stream’s needs and testing the encoder feed. Its streaming tips recommend setting up an encoder at least 2 hours ahead and starting it at least 15 minutes ahead; these are preparation recommendations, not bitrate specifications.

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.
- TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. It does NOT support 4-pole headsets on a single combo plug, it does NOT power passive speakers, and it does NOT add surround sound - it is a stereo 2-channel adapter.
- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.
- SABRENT SUPPORT AND WARRANTY - What is in the box: one USB audio sound adapter. Backed by a 1-year limited warranty, extended to 2 years when you register within 90 days on the manufacturer's website.
For its hired-agency webcast context, the National Informatics Centre specifies an encoder capable of publishing a live stream, outbound access to RTMP port 1935, and dedicated network bandwidth of 2–4 Mbps per stream. These are NIC webcast requirements for that context, not universal YouTube bitrate settings. Ask your network provider or administrator to verify outbound access if the encoder cannot connect.
After the broadcast
If you choose to archive the live stream, review the recording for Content ID claims after the stream finishes. YouTube says claims on archived live streams are made after the stream ends; an uneventful live preview does not by itself confirm that every element is cleared for the archive.

Troubleshoot common launch problems
- You cannot start a live stream: Check channel verification and whether the channel has a live-streaming restriction in the prior 90 days. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Recheck the server URL and stream key in the encoder, confirm the encoder is running, and verify outbound network access. For NIC’s hired-agency webcast setup, check its stated RTMP port 1935 requirement.
- The preview is missing the programme audio: Check that the encoder input is connected to the intended station output and that the correct input is selected. Inspect the incoming preview before clicking Go live.
- The stream is interrupted after music begins: YouTube may detect third-party content and replace, interrupt, or terminate the stream. Resolve the rights issue and ask the relevant rights holder to allowlist the channel through Content ID where applicable; a licence alone may not prevent interruption.
- The feed is unstable: Test the complete path and compare the planned stream demands with available upload capacity. YouTube recommends upload headroom and a test run; NIC’s 2–4 Mbps figure applies only to its specified webcast context.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your station wants a prerecorded programme or playlist to keep looping as a YouTube live stream, StreamNeo runs that uploaded video from the cloud. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams what you upload at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and the first day is free with no card. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos rather than going live from a camera, so it is a different workflow from encoding a station’s live audio feed. Start the free day on StreamNeo.
