To stream a playlist at 4K 60fps with Streamlabs Desktop, set up an encoder livestream in YouTube Studio, add and test your media source, then configure the video output to 3840×2160 at 60 fps and use YouTube’s recommended ingest settings. Your source, encoder and upload connection must all sustain that profile; a 4K setting alone cannot guarantee a stable or 4K playback stream for every viewer.

Set up the YouTube encoder stream

Open YouTube Studio and create or schedule a livestream using an encoder. Follow the Live Control Room prompts for the stream’s title, visibility and schedule.

In the stream settings, copy the stream URL and stream key into Streamlabs Desktop’s streaming configuration. Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a broadcast to your channel.

Use RTMPS if it is available in the connection options. YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS as supported ingest protocols and recommends RTMPS.
Exact Streamlabs menu wording can vary by app version. Do not assume a particular playlist-specific control is available: use the current source controls in your installation and verify the behavior before going live.

Open the scene you intend to broadcast and add a media source for the local video file. Streamlabs documents media files such as MP4 and media-source looping behavior in its media source guidance.

If your playlist consists of multiple files, configure it using the playlist or media-source options actually shown in your current version. The documented material does not establish a single current playlist menu path, so confirm the controls in the app rather than relying on guessed labels.

Test playback from beginning to end, including the transition back to the first item. Confirm the loop does not leave a black screen, stop on the last file or lose audio. Check that the source fits the canvas as intended and that its audio is routed to the stream.
Set 3840×2160 at 60 fps

In Streamlabs Desktop, open Settings > Video. Set the base (canvas) resolution and output resolution to 3840×2160 if the source and computer can handle them. Set the frame rate to 60 fps. Streamlabs documents these controls in its video settings guide.

In Settings > Output, choose an encoder that your computer supports reliably. Hardware and software encoder options depend on your system; test the selected option with the actual media and scene before the event.

Set the output bitrate, rate control and keyframe interval according to YouTube’s current encoder recommendations below. The 4K60 source profile is 2160p60; YouTube transcodes live streams, so the rendition a viewer receives can vary with their device, bandwidth and YouTube processing.
Use YouTube’s current 2160p60 ingest settings

YouTube’s published table is the relevant source for current ingest settings. A Streamlabs article has previously cited a different 4K60 bitrate range; do not substitute that older range for YouTube’s current recommendation. YouTube also specifies normal latency for 4K streams rather than low latency.
Plan bandwidth and run a preflight test
YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. At the 35 Mbps H.264 video recommendation, that implies about 42 Mbps of available upload capacity before accounting for audio and other traffic: 35 Mbps × 1.2 = 42 Mbps. This is arithmetic from YouTube’s headroom recommendation, not a guaranteed speed-test threshold. Other devices and uploads can still destabilize the stream.

Use a reliable connection and check that available upload capacity has room for the stream plus competing network use. YouTube’s streaming tips explain bandwidth planning. Ethernet is an optional way to reduce wireless variability, not a YouTube requirement.

Test the complete scene with representative motion and audio. Watch the Live Control Room preview and stream-health indicators; a clean local preview does not prove YouTube is receiving a healthy stream.

YouTube recommends setting up at least two hours ahead and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before a scheduled event. Use that time to check the preview, audio, looping behavior and stream health.

If the feed drops frames or health warnings persist, reduce bitrate or output resolution/frame rate, or improve the connection and encoder capacity before relying on 4K60.

Troubleshoot common 4K60 playlist problems
