You can run a continuous YouTube meditation stream by sending a prerecorded video playlist through a live-stream encoder—or by using a cloud service that loops uploaded videos. Before launch, verify your channel’s live-stream access, clear the rights to every visual and sound, test the stream, and plan for recovery and local archiving. A 24/7 broadcast is not guaranteed to stay uninterrupted just because playback is set to loop.
Choose how the stream will run
YouTube’s encoder workflow can send prerecorded video as a live feed. The encoder may run on a computer you operate, or you can use a cloud service designed for continuous prerecorded streams. YouTube lists OBS as open-source streaming software and also lists a cloud service for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming; those listings establish that the options exist, not that either will guarantee uninterrupted service. Confirm channel access and prepare the content
Verify live-stream eligibility
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable live streaming and confirm access well before the intended launch. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
Build a rights-cleared playlist
Assemble the meditation visuals and soundtrack in a playback workflow your encoder can repeat. Keep documentation showing that you have permission for worldwide streaming and any archive use you intend. YouTube’s live-stream terms put responsibility for necessary rights on the creator, including music rights involving artists, labels, publishers, public performance licenses, and other royalty participants. A license alone may not prevent a live interruption: YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. If you have permission to use third-party material, ask the rights holder to allowlist your channel through Content ID, and test the production feed before relying on it continuously. YouTube explains the process and possible interruptions in Copyright issues with live streams.
Create the YouTube stream and connect the encoder
- Open YouTube Studio and create a live stream. Choose the stream type, enter its details, and schedule it if you want it to appear as upcoming for subscribers. YouTube says viewers may opt into notifications for scheduled streams. See Manage live stream settings.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key. In the stream’s settings, copy the connection details for the encoder. Treat the key like a password: it identifies where the encoder sends the feed and lets YouTube accept it. Do not publish or share it. Reset it if you believe it has been exposed. Follow YouTube’s encoder guide.
- Enter the connection details in your encoder. Select the option to stream to YouTube using an encoder, then enter the stream URL and key. Exact labels differ by software; use that encoder’s current interface rather than assuming every version uses the same menu names.
- Set up continuous playback. Load the intended prerecorded sequence and configure the playback workflow to repeat it. Decide what should happen if a source file ends, the encoder or host restarts, or the network drops. Test each case: YouTube’s connection guidance does not guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 loop from a particular software configuration.
- Check the preview before going public. Start the encoder, confirm that the Live Control Room receives picture and sound, and verify the event can be watched from the channel or watch page and on a mobile device. YouTube recommends testing before launch; use its live-streaming tips as a checklist.
Set up for reliable continuous playback
Leave bandwidth headroom
YouTube recommends keeping 20% of upload bandwidth available beyond the total streaming bitrate. This is operational guidance, not a performance guarantee. Check the whole playback chain
- Confirm the video and audio continue through playlist transitions without a blank screen, abrupt silence, or an unexpected stop.
- Test what happens after a network interruption and after restarting the encoder or host. Confirm the stream reconnects as intended rather than relying on an assumed automatic recovery behavior.
- Monitor YouTube’s stream health and the encoder or playback process. For a local setup, check power, network, and available storage as part of the same routine.
- If you keep a local recording, verify that the file opens, plays correctly, and continues growing during the stream. YouTube recommends checking local archive integrity and file size.
For a scheduled event, YouTube advises setting up the encoder at least two hours ahead and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start so you can check the preview. Do not rely on YouTube to preserve a complete 24-hour broadcast. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived and warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If preserving the program matters, make and verify a local recording or another backup. The threshold and warning are in YouTube’s archive guidance.

Decide whether viewers should be able to pause and rewind or should join at the current live point, then check the stream’s current DVR settings. For a meditation stream, that choice affects whether someone arriving mid-session can return to the beginning or simply listen along in real time. Understand copyright and monetization separately
Copyright permission and YouTube monetization eligibility are different questions. YouTube says reused content with minimal changes may violate its monetization policies even when the creator has permission; the reused-content policy is separate from copyright enforcement. A loop of stock visuals or another creator’s soundtrack is not automatically eligible for monetization. Make your own authorship and meaningful original contribution clear, and review YouTube’s channel monetization policies before applying to or relying on the YouTube Partner Program.

Troubleshoot common failures
