The encoder or playback workflow must repeat the media; YouTube’s setup guidance does not provide a universal loop switch. Test the full loop and connection before going public, and plan who or what will monitor the stream and recover it if it stops.
Before you set up the stream
Check that your channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. It also requires livestreamers to be at least 16. Check eligibility and enable livestreaming before preparing a launch; access may not be available immediately. See YouTube’s live streaming setup guidance and age requirements for livestreaming.

Prepare media you have permission to use
Choose a meadow image or video and soft wind audio that you created or are properly licensed to use. Confirm that the rights cover continuous livestreaming and any archive or replay you intend to keep. A track or clip being publicly available does not establish permission to rebroadcast it. YouTube’s technical setup instructions do not determine the license status of your particular assets.

Listen for abrupt changes in wind volume or silence, and look for a visible jump, flash, or change in framing. A long, seamless source is easier to repeat cleanly than a short clip with an obvious endpoint.

Choose a workflow that can repeat the media
You need an encoder or playback workflow that supplies the prepared audio and video continuously. YouTube supports encoder-based livestreaming and documents a 24/7 live-feed example, but it does not prescribe one specific looping setup. Confirm that your chosen encoder or media workflow can repeat the files without a gap, and test that behavior rather than assuming a player’s repeat setting will feed the live output.
Configure YouTube and the encoder

Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to enter Live Control Room. Create or select the stream and set its visibility for testing. The interface can change; follow the current Live Control Room labels and prompts.

Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the stream into the corresponding server and key fields in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or include it in a screenshot. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before continuing.

Set the encoder to send to YouTube using RTMPS where supported. YouTube’s general encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS ingest, frame rates up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR), and a keyframe interval of two seconds recommended, not exceeding four seconds. Check that your encoder and chosen output format support the settings you select. The current recommendations are on YouTube’s encoder settings page.

Choose output resolution and bitrate together, based on the source and a stable upload connection. For H.264 at 1080p and 30 fps, YouTube recommends 5 Mbps. This is a platform recommendation, not a guarantee that a particular computer or connection can sustain a continuous stream. Test the available upload capacity under realistic conditions before choosing a higher-quality setting.

For stereo audio, YouTube’s advanced settings recommend 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps. Use a supported audio codec such as AAC or MP3, and verify that the encoder’s audio output is actually reaching the preview.

Start the encoder and wait for the stream preview in Live Control Room. Check the picture, audio level, loop boundary, and stream-health messages before making the stream public. YouTube recommends testing before launch and monitoring stream quality while live; see its encoder guidance and live streaming instructions.

Run an unlisted test before going public
Use an unlisted test stream to verify the whole chain from media playback to YouTube’s preview. Let it run long enough to cross at least one audio and video loop boundary. Observe the image and listen on headphones as well as checking the encoder’s meters.
- Loop continuity: look for black frames, frozen images, gaps, clicks, abrupt volume changes, or a momentary loss of audio.
- Ingest and stability: check that the encoder remains connected and YouTube reports healthy stream status. Test upload capacity; a connection that works briefly may not remain reliable over an extended broadcast.
- Visibility and playback: confirm the intended stream is selected in Live Control Room and that a viewer can play the test at the intended visibility setting.
- Monitoring and recovery: decide who will notice a failure and how the encoder or connection will be restarted. YouTube’s reviewed instructions recommend monitoring but do not specify a watchdog or automatic-restart tool.
Only switch to public once the test is clean and you have a practical monitoring plan. Do not assume that starting the encoder alone makes the feed self-healing: recovery depends on your workflow or service.

Plan for stream interruptions and archives
Keep an eye on stream health
During the broadcast, check Live Control Room’s preview and stream-health messages, and monitor audio and video quality. If the stream disconnects, investigate the connection, encoder, and media playback; then restore the feed using your workflow’s recovery steps. For a genuinely continuous channel, provide human or automated monitoring rather than relying on an unattended computer or connection without a recovery plan.
Do not rely on a full archive of a stream longer than 12 hours
YouTube’s encoder help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not establish that a single continuous stream lasting longer than 12 hours will be saved in full. If a complete replay matters, plan around that documented limit and confirm the current behavior in YouTube’s encoder livestream instructions before launch.
Troubleshoot common problems
