You can broadcast a prerecorded Sanskrit shloka playlist on YouTube Live with an encoder, but do not assume one live session can run indefinitely: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, and its published guidance does not establish a method for a single stream to continue beyond that limit. First confirm your channel can livestream and that you have the rights to every recording and other asset. Then configure the encoder, test the playlist, and plan for monitoring and recovery.
What you need before you start
- An eligible, verified YouTube channel with no livestream restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube says streamers must be at least 16. First-time livestream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of your planned start. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup guide explain the requirements.
- A software or hardware encoder that can play your prepared playlist and send it to YouTube Live. The host computer, playback process, encoder and internet connection must remain operational for a do-it-yourself setup.
- Your prepared audio and visuals, plus permission for the actual assets and the way you intend to use them. A traditional Sanskrit verse may be ancient, but a particular recording, arrangement, performance, image or video can have separate rights.
- A monitoring and recovery plan. A 24/7 schedule needs someone or a service to notice interruptions and restore the broadcast; a playlist alone does not guarantee continuity.
Check rights for the shloka recordings and visuals
YouTube makes the creator responsible for rights to live content, including music. Its Livestream terms and conditions state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” This is YouTube’s contractual requirement, not jurisdiction-specific legal advice. What permissions you need depends on the assets, intended use and applicable law.

Keep a record of the source and permitted use for each recording, composition or arrangement, image and other third-party element. Confirm that permission covers livestreaming, the relevant territories, and any archive or monetization plans you have. Do not infer that a verse being old makes a modern recording free to broadcast.

- YouTube can scan live streams for third-party content. It may replace the stream image, interrupt the broadcast or terminate it. Even licensed content may be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID; see YouTube’s live-streaming copyright guidance.
- Creator Music permissions are track-specific. The cited usage-details guidance excludes live streams from the covered revenue-sharing requirements (“No live streams or Shorts”). Do not treat permission for an ordinary uploaded video as clearance for a live broadcast; check the exact track’s current live-use terms.
Set up and start the encoder stream
- Enable livestreaming. In YouTube, verify the channel and request live access well before your planned broadcast. Confirm that the channel meets YouTube’s eligibility requirements and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Create the stream in YouTube Studio. Choose an encoder-based live stream or schedule one, then locate its stream URL (server URL) and stream key. YouTube supports both software and standalone hardware encoders; hardware is optional.
- Protect the stream key. Enter the URL and key in the encoder’s YouTube Live destination settings. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it casually. Reset it in YouTube Studio if it is exposed.
- Load and check the playlist. Confirm the encoder can play the files in order and loop them as intended. Check that audio is present and consistent, visuals display correctly, and there are no unintended gaps or abrupt starts between files.
- Choose audience and playback settings. Set the stream to public, private or unlisted according to your plan. YouTube’s DVR feature can allow viewers to pause and rewind; review the available stream settings at YouTube’s live-stream settings guide.
- Start early and verify the preview. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours before a scheduled event and starting it at least 15 minutes beforehand. Check the Studio preview and stream health before you announce or rely on the stream. These are production recommendations, not guarantees against failure; see YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
- Monitor after going live. Watch Studio’s stream-health indicators and the public or unlisted watch page. Check that playback continues, audio remains audible, and any archive is progressing as expected.
Can one YouTube Live stream run continuously for 24/7?
Do not plan on a single encoder session lasting forever based on YouTube’s published guidance. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not establish that a stream can safely or reliably run beyond 12 hours, nor does it specify a supported handoff process for a nonstop prerecorded channel. Verify current YouTube guidance and the chosen operator’s continuity behavior before promising an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast.

For a genuinely continuous service, decide in advance who or what will notice a dropped connection or encoder failure, how the stream will be restarted, and how viewers will be informed if a session ends. If continuity across stream sessions matters, test the transition and archive behavior before making the schedule public.
Choose an operating method
Software encoder on a computer
This is the lower-equipment route when you already have a suitable computer and encoder software. The computer, playlist playback, encoder and network connection must keep operating; sleep settings, updates, power loss or a home internet interruption can stop the stream. Check that the software supports the playlist format, looping, stream-health visibility and a recovery workflow that fits your needs.

Troubleshoot common interruptions
- Livestreaming is not available yet: Check channel verification and eligibility, including any livestream restrictions during the prior 90 days. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- YouTube Studio receives no encoder signal: Check that the encoder is using the stream URL and key for the intended event, that it is online, and that the key has not been changed or reset. Replace a compromised key in the encoder after resetting it.
- The preview has no sound or skips between verses: Inspect playlist order, file playback and audio output in the encoder. Listen to the preview and watch for gaps before directing viewers to the stream.
- The stream is interrupted or replaced with a warning: Check YouTube’s stream-health notice and review every audio and visual asset for a rights or Content ID issue. A license may not prevent interruption if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel; contact the rights owner about the appropriate Content ID process.
- The broadcast ends or the archive is incomplete: Check the encoder, host power and network, then review YouTube’s current duration and archive guidance. YouTube’s statement that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived is not a guarantee of indefinite session continuity.
Cost and planning notes
A software-encoder setup may avoid dedicated encoder hardware, but it still depends on a computer, power and network connection staying available. Hardware adds equipment and operating costs. A cloud service shifts the always-on playback and encoding away from a home computer; compare the actual service price, storage allowance, supported quality, recovery behavior and billing period with your operating needs. Rights clearance for recordings and visuals is a separate responsibility whichever method you choose.
