A computer running encoder software sends the audio-video feed to YouTube. OBS is one option; its official Help Portal covers streaming and x264. Whether a particular computer can encode your chosen resolution continuously depends on its workload and configuration, so test the actual setup rather than assuming it will hold up unattended.

Standalone hardware encoder
YouTube also supports standalone hardware encoders. Compare a device with the software route based on the encoding workload, the picture and audio quality you want, how it will be maintained unattended, and how you will recover after power or network interruptions. The available platform documentation does not benchmark specific devices or establish one as universally best.
Plan for power, internet and recovery
Measure the internet connection at the actual streaming location and test the complete system before relying on it. YouTube’s documentation does not specify a Rajasthan-specific minimum connection speed, bitrate, resolution, UPS capacity or guaranteed uptime for this kind of channel. The Live Streaming API describes an incoming feed and ingest configuration, including primary and backup stream URLs; that platform architecture does not itself provide your setup with redundant internet or guaranteed failover. Create and start the YouTube stream
- Enable live streaming. If this is the channel’s first live stream, enable the feature in YouTube and allow up to 24 hours for activation. Check the current requirements and workflow in YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
- Create or schedule a stream. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create a stream or schedule one. Scheduling can provide a watch page and let viewers set a reminder.
- Copy the connection details. In the stream setup, copy the server URL and stream key into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Treat the stream key as a credential: anyone with access to it may be able to connect an encoder to your stream, so keep it private.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Start sending the feed, then verify that the incoming preview appears in Live Control Room before making the broadcast public. If you scheduled the stream, follow the Studio process to go live.
- Monitor stream health. Keep an eye on the Studio dashboard for interruptions or health warnings. If the stream stops, check the dashboard for strikes as well as checking your encoder, network and power.
Clear rights and reduce the risk of interruption
YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility for necessary rights on the person providing the live content, including music licensing rights. Use audio, images and video only when you have the rights needed for the intended live use and any resulting archive.

Understand the 24/7 archive limitation
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a continuous broadcast longer than 12 hours will be archived in full. If you need a complete recording, arrange separate recording or plan shorter broadcast segments, and confirm how your chosen workflow will capture the material you need.
