You can keep a pranayama guide live around the clock by sending an encoder feed to YouTube Live, but do not rely on one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast for its replay: YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Enable livestreaming on your verified channel in advance, test the feed and keep a local recording. What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel that is verified, has no livestream restriction in the past 90 days, and is operated by someone at least 16 years old for the stream. YouTube says enabling livestreaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until launch day. YouTube’s livestreaming access requirements describe general eligibility; the 50-subscriber threshold applies to mobile livestreaming, not the encoder workflow described here.
- An encoder, such as software or hardware that sends your audio and video to YouTube. YouTube’s encoder workflow uses a stream URL and key from Live Control Room.
- A stable internet connection with upload capacity above the total stream bitrate, plus 20% headroom as YouTube recommends. A wired connection is often a practical way to reduce local wireless variability, but test your actual setup rather than assuming a connection type guarantees stability.
- A clear, rights-cleared guide recording or live-produced breathing instruction, and a local recording plan if you need a copy of the program.
Set up YouTube Live and your encoder
1. Enable livestreaming and create the event
- Verify your channel and enable livestreaming in YouTube Studio. Wait for the activation to complete if this is your first livestream.
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Set the title, description, visibility, audience setting, and other event details before launch.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room into the corresponding encoder fields. Treat the key like a password: someone with it can send content to your stream. If it is exposed, change it in Live Control Room and update the encoder.
2. Choose reliable video and audio settings
YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport, H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), AAC or MP3 audio, and a two-second keyframe interval; do not set the keyframe interval above four seconds. Choose resolution and bitrate for the upload capacity you have actually tested. Keep total stream bitrate within available upload bandwidth and retain the 20% headroom YouTube recommends, including traffic from a backup encoder if you use one. The cited guidance does not establish a required resolution or a particular microphone model for a spoken breathing guide.

For pranayama instruction, intelligible speech and consistent pacing matter more than elaborate visuals. Connect and test the microphone or other audio source you intend to use, check for clipping, distracting background noise, and gaps, and listen to the complete breathing cues. 3. Preview and test before going public
- Start the encoder feed and wait for the preview in Live Control Room.
- Check that the picture, voice, levels, and timing are correct, and that YouTube reports a healthy incoming stream before making the event public.
- Test the viewer experience from the channel or watch page, including on a mobile device. A creator-side preview alone does not confirm that the audience experience is correct.
- If you plan to use encoder failover, test it before launch: stop the primary feed or disconnect its network, then confirm that the viewer’s player switches to the backup. Monitor audio and video continuously during operation.
- Record a local copy. YouTube recommends a local archive backup, and a local recording gives you a source file if a platform archive is unavailable.
Choose how to handle the 24-hour schedule
“24/7” can mean a continuous presence for viewers, but it need not mean one encoder session that runs forever. YouTube says a stream shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube also warns that DVR may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. These are risks, not a promise that every shorter stream will be archived or that any stream will stay live indefinitely.

If replay access matters, plan sessions shorter than 12 hours, retain local recordings, and test each handoff between sessions. If you choose a single longer broadcast, tell viewers that its YouTube replay may be unavailable and preserve your own recording.
Keep the breathing guide responsible and rights-cleared
YouTube’s medical misinformation policy applies to livestreams and prohibits specified serious-risk medical misinformation that contradicts local health authority guidance. Present the stream as breathing instruction, not as a guaranteed treatment or cure, and avoid unsupported health claims. YouTube’s livestream terms also require the necessary rights for live content, including music where relevant, and compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements in the territory where you stream. The sources cited here do not establish a specific India permit or registration for this format; check obligations that apply to your particular production rather than assuming a blanket rule.

Troubleshoot common problems
- Livestreaming is not available yet: Confirm channel verification and eligibility, then allow up to 24 hours for first-time enablement to take effect.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Check that the encoder has the correct stream URL and key, that the event is active in Live Control Room, and that the network can reach the service. Replace an exposed key and update the encoder.
- The stream is unstable or drops: Check total bitrate against upload capacity, restore the recommended 20% headroom, and reduce output demands if the tested connection cannot sustain them. Check for competing upload traffic and verify any backup encoder before relying on it.
- Viewers report missing audio or unclear cues: Inspect the selected audio input and encoder audio settings, listen to the Live Control Room preview, and test the actual viewer page. Monitor the guide during the stream rather than assuming the encoder’s meters tell the whole story.
- The replay is missing or DVR does not work as expected: A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured, and DVR may be limited or unavailable. Use planned shorter sessions and keep a local recording when an archive is important.
- The picture or audio changes during failover: Test the backup path under realistic conditions before launch and monitor both feeds’ output. A failover that has not been tested is not a dependable recovery plan.
