How to Stream a 24/7 Lofi Study Music Channel on YouTube From Prerecorded Tracks

You can stream prerecorded lofi music around the clock by creating a YouTube Live event and sending it a continuous audio-and-visual feed from an encoder. Before launch, enable live streaming on your channel, confirm you have rights to every track and visual, test the encoder and upload connection, and plan how you will detect and recover from interruptions. YouTube does not prescribe one universal playlist-loop setup for every encoder, so verify that your chosen workflow actually repeats the files unattended.

What you need before you start

  • A YouTube channel eligible to livestream. YouTube requires channel verification and no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days; first-time activation can take up to 24 hours. Its overview also states a minimum age of 16 to livestream. Check YouTube’s live-streaming requirements well ahead of your launch.
  • An encoder workflow. An encoder—software, hardware, or a managed service—sends your prepared audio and visuals to YouTube. The encoder or service must keep supplying a valid stream for the duration of the broadcast.
  • Music and visual rights. Secure permission or licences for both the sound recordings and compositions, as well as artwork, animations, and other visual material you use.
  • A stable upload connection and a monitoring plan. A 24/7 broadcast depends on a sustained feed. Decide who or what will notice a stalled file, computer, connection, or encoder and how it will be restarted.

YouTube lists verified encoder products, but says those products are not made by YouTube. Its guidance does not set a universal playlist-loop recipe, unattended restart setting, minimum computer specification, or uptime guarantee. Choose an encoder or service that supports your files and continuous-operation needs, then test those capabilities rather than assuming they are automatic. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance and its HLS setup guidance.

Set up the stream from prerecorded tracks

  1. Enable live streaming early. Verify the channel and request activation before your planned start; initial activation may take up to 24 hours. Confirm there is no live-stream restriction on the channel.
  2. Prepare a rights-cleared audio-and-visual program. Organize the tracks and visuals your encoder will send. If you intend to loop a playlist, configure the encoder or service to repeat it and confirm the transition from the final item back to the first. The exact setting depends on the product; YouTube does not provide a single universal loop configuration.
  3. Create or schedule a live stream in YouTube Studio. Choose the encoder workflow, then copy the stream URL and stream key from the stream setup into the corresponding encoder fields. Treat the stream key as a password: do not publish or share it. Use YouTube’s encoder instructions for the current Studio flow, since interface labels may change.
  4. Set the encoder’s output to settings your connection can sustain. YouTube recommends RTMPS for secure ingestion. For a simple 720p, 30-fps visual loop, its settings table lists 2 Mbps video as a recommendation. Use constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio. YouTube’s recommended stereo audio setting is 44.1 kHz at 128 kbps. These are recommendations, not mandatory minimums for every source or encoder. Details are in YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guide.
  5. Start the encoder and inspect the preview. Wait for the feed to appear in YouTube’s Live Control Room preview before going public. Confirm that both audio and visuals are present and that the stream is using the intended event.
  6. Publish only after a test. Run a private or unlisted test first, then verify playback from the channel or watch page and on a mobile device. Check that your playlist loops as intended and that the stream remains stable through transitions.
  7. Monitor the broadcast. Watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators and arrange a way to notice feed, power, network, or encoder failures. Test encoder failover if available. YouTube’s tips recommend leaving upload bandwidth headroom; they cite 20% as a recommended margin. These checks are useful, but they do not guarantee uninterrupted service.

Choose settings for a continuous lofi stream

For a static or gently animated scene, 720p at 30 fps is a reasonable starting point if it suits your source and connection. YouTube lists 2 Mbps for that video setting. Do not increase resolution or bitrate simply because the broadcast is long-running: choose values your upload can sustain consistently, including during normal household or office network use.

Use the same audio quality as your prepared tracks where practical, while keeping the encoder within YouTube’s recommended audio guidance: stereo at 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps, using AAC or MP3. Check the encoder’s output meter and listen to the preview for clipping, silence, dropouts, or an unexpectedly low level.

YouTube automatically transcodes live streams for viewers on different devices and networks. HLS is a supported alternative ingestion protocol with its own format and segment requirements, and it has higher latency than continuous RTMP delivery. A prerecorded lofi program does not need HLS just because its audio was recorded earlier; follow your encoder’s supported workflow. See YouTube’s HLS requirements and streaming tips.

Clear music and visual rights before going live

“Lofi,” a credit in the description, a royalty-free label, or buying a track does not by itself establish that you can use it in a livestream. YouTube’s livestream terms say the channel operator is responsible for having the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of live content, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. Keep written permission or licence records for each recording and composition, and for any visual assets.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can lead to a placeholder, warning, interruption, termination, or strike. Even where you have a licence, the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist to prevent interruptions. If a stream is stopped or flagged, review the channel’s Studio dashboard and contact the relevant rights owner. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Keep the stream running: local setup or cloud service

A local encoder gives you direct control, but the computer, power, internet connection, and encoder must remain operational. A managed cloud workflow can remove the need to keep a home computer running. Compare options on whether they loop your files, who monitors and restarts a failed feed, what network or power dependencies remain, how billing works, and how rights-owner allowlisting is handled. YouTube’s encoder directory establishes that software, hardware, and cloud processing options exist; it does not rank their reliability or price.

Or let it run in the cloud

StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for keeping a channel live from uploaded videos: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded program without a computer, OBS, or home connection needing to stay on. Each slot supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers, and includes automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card; it is one free day per account. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. It does not clear music or visual rights for you, so use only content you are authorized to stream. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
