You can run the encoder on a computer that stays powered and connected, or use a cloud service such as StreamNeo to loop uploaded video without keeping a home computer online. Either way, confirm you have rights to every part of the video and audio, test the feed before making it public, and plan for interruptions: a 24/7 broadcast is not guaranteed to stay uninterrupted.
What you need before starting
- A verified YouTube channel with live streaming enabled and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube says streamers must be at least 16. First-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave setup until the planned start time. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- A video file or playlist of Kerala backwaters footage and ambient sound that you are entitled to stream.
- Either encoder software running on a computer that remains powered and connected, or a hosted service that loops uploaded video to YouTube.
- Enough sustained upload capacity for the encoder’s total video and audio bitrate, with additional room for network variation.
YouTube’s interface and eligibility requirements can change. Check the current options in YouTube Studio before scheduling a long run.

Clear the rights to the footage and sound
Scenic footage is not automatically free to use. You need the necessary rights for the video, ambient recordings, music, and any other material in the feed. YouTube’s live-stream terms require streamers to have the rights needed to exploit live content on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights: YouTube Terms of Service.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can trigger a warning and placeholder image; if the matched material remains in the feed, YouTube may temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream. A copyright strike can also end a live stream. If you have a licence for third-party content, check whether the rights holder must allowlist your channel through Content ID. Keep permission records available, and do not assume that a video being online or licensed for another use clears it for a continuous YouTube live stream. Details are in YouTube’s guidance on copyrighted content in live streams.

Set up a local encoder loop
1. Enable live streaming and open Live Control Room
- Verify your YouTube channel and check that it has no live-streaming restrictions within the prior 90 days.
- In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go live. If this is your first live stream, enable the feature and allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Create a new stream or schedule one. Set its title, description, visibility, and start details for the ambience broadcast. Use the current Live Control Room options; labels can change.
YouTube’s encoder workflow sends a feed to the server URL using the stream key shown in Live Control Room. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your stream. Do not publish it in a description, screenshot, or public chat. YouTube’s setup guide is at Go live with an encoder.
2. Configure your encoder and repeat the media
- Choose YouTube as the destination in the encoder, or enter the server URL and stream key from Live Control Room. Use RTMPS where your encoder supports it; YouTube recommends the encrypted connection.
- Select the video file or playlist and enable the encoder’s repeat, loop, or equivalent playback option. The exact control depends on the encoder. Confirm that the playlist returns to its start or the file restarts cleanly, with no unintended pause or silent gap.
- Use a supported format. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends H.264 video, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; the keyframe interval should not exceed four seconds. These are platform recommendations, not a guarantee that particular hardware can run unattended for a day.
- Set resolution and bitrate to match the source and your stable upload capacity. YouTube automatically transcodes live streams into formats for viewers. Do not choose a bitrate your connection cannot sustain; leave around 20% upload headroom above the combined video and audio streaming bitrate.
YouTube also documents HLS for some codec and HDR workflows, but HLS has higher latency than RTMP. A standard ambience stream does not need HDR or HLS; follow the encoder workflow and connection type your setup supports. See YouTube’s recommended encoder settings.

3. Preview before going public
- Start sending the encoder feed and wait for it to appear in Live Control Room.
- Check the preview for the correct picture, steady playback, and clean audio. Listen for clipping, abrupt level changes, gaps, or a loop restart that is obvious or disruptive.
- Check the stream health indicator and confirm the watch page opens on your channel and on mobile before sharing it or switching to the intended public visibility.
- If you plan to keep a local recording, verify that the recording is being written and that there is enough storage for the planned run.
YouTube advises creators to set up encoders ahead of time, verify the preview and watch page, and continuously monitor audio and video quality. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems4. Keep the computer and connection available
A local encoder only sends while its computer, software, power, and network are working. Prevent sleep or automatic shutdown, keep the encoder running, and avoid relying on a Wi-Fi or mobile connection that fluctuates under load. YouTube recommends roughly 20% bandwidth headroom over the total stream bitrate; network disruption can still break the broadcast. A backup encoder may help if the primary encoder fails, but it does not provide backup power or internet by itself. YouTube’s network guidance is at its encoder settings page.

A dedicated mini PC is one possible way to run encoder software continuously, but YouTube does not specify a minimum computer model or configuration for 24/7 ambience streaming. Hardware requirements depend on the encoder, media, and settings you choose.
Plan for stream interruptions and archives
Do not treat a 24/7 run as a single guaranteed recording. A local power cut, internet outage, encoder crash, or YouTube-side interruption can stop the feed. Monitor the broadcast when possible and decide how you will restart it if it drops. A restart may require checking the encoder and Live Control Room rather than assuming the stream will resume by itself.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That rule does not establish that one 24-hour broadcast will be saved as a single uninterrupted replay. If a replay matters, plan shorter sessions or make and check a separate local recording, allowing for the storage and file-management requirements of your setup. To end an encoder stream, end it in Live Control Room and stop sending from the encoder, following YouTube’s encoder instructions.
