You can keep a Kannada children’s story playlist playing on YouTube by running a playlist encoder on an Indian VPS and sending its feed to YouTube Live. Use YouTube’s stream URL and key, start with a conservative encoding profile, and plan for restarts: a single stream lasting more than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive. Before going live, clear the rights to every story and media element, and mark the audience accurately if the content is made for children.
How the VPS-to-YouTube setup works
The VPS runs an encoder that plays your prepared files in sequence and sends the resulting live feed to YouTube. The VPS is the computer doing the work; your home computer can be off. You still need a YouTube channel enabled to livestream, a VPS plan that supports sustained outbound traffic, and a playlist made from material you are entitled to broadcast.

“24/7” describes the goal of keeping the channel live, not a guarantee that YouTube will save one uninterrupted broadcast or that viewers will see seamless transitions between separate sessions. YouTube says a stream over 12 hours may not be captured at all, so design around shorter sessions if you need YouTube archives.

Set up YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Confirm that the channel can livestream and create a live event. Schedule it if you want a public watch page ahead of time.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the event into your encoder’s YouTube output settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your channel. Reset it if you believe it has been exposed.
- Use RTMPS if your encoder supports it. YouTube recommends RTMPS because it encrypts the feed into and through Google’s servers. YouTube’s encoder settings explain the available ingest settings; its encoder how-to covers the Live Control Room workflow.
Clear each story and media asset
Do not assume that a traditional tale is automatically free to use. A modern Kannada translation, narration, audio recording, soundtrack, illustration, or video may have separate rights. Before broadcasting, keep a rights log for each item that records the work and edition, rights holder or licence, whether public livestreaming and replay are allowed, territories covered, and any attribution requirement. Check that your permission covers both the live broadcast and any on-demand archive you plan to retain.

The particular rights status of any Kannada story or recording cannot be determined from its language, age, or subject alone. YouTube identifies copyright matches or strikes as possible reasons livestreaming access can be restricted; see its live-stream restrictions.
Choose the stream settings
For RTMP or RTMPS, YouTube’s general encoder guidance supports H.264 video with AAC or MP3 audio, recommends constant bitrate (CBR), and recommends a two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds). Settings should be reliable for the VPS’s actual sustained outbound connection, not merely its advertised port speed.

A static or gently animated story image may not need the same bitrate as fast-moving footage, but lowering the rate can affect legibility and sound/video quality. Test the actual material and watch stream health before relying on the setup. YouTube’s encoder settings are platform recommendations, not a performance guarantee for a particular VPS.

Check VPS bandwidth and operating limits
Choose the bitrate first, then verify that the VPS can sustain the corresponding outbound rate to YouTube. YouTube recommends 20% headroom over the total stream bitrate; its streaming tips put this plainly: “Leave a bit of room (20% recommended).” A provider’s nominal port speed alone does not establish stable egress for a long-running stream.

Before buying a plan, check its current terms for sustained outbound throughput, monthly transfer allowance and overage charges, limits on long-running processes, region and network route to YouTube ingest, restart and recovery tools, storage for any separate recording, support, and total cost. Confirm what “unmetered” means in the actual terms. No particular Indian VPS provider or plan is established as suitable here.
Run a test before making the stream public
- Configure the encoder on the VPS with the YouTube stream URL and key, playlist, and chosen video/audio settings.
- Use an unlisted or private event for the initial test. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream-health indicators while the playlist plays.
- Listen for gaps, clipping, or unexpected silence; check that the picture remains legible and that playback advances correctly from one story to the next.
- Restart the encoder process and, if practical, restart the VPS. Confirm that the process starts again and that you can re-establish the YouTube feed. The exact service-manager or scheduler steps depend on the VPS operating system and encoder you choose.
- Watch the stream after going public and respond to stream-health warnings. YouTube recommends testing before going live and monitoring stream health; no VPS configuration or encoder command can guarantee a trouble-free connection.
Plan sessions around YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a YouTube replay, end and restart sessions before they cross 12 hours, and keep a separate recording if an archive is important and you have the rights and storage to retain it. Recurring shorter sessions can serve a continuous channel schedule, but the transition between events and the viewer experience should be tested in your account. A separate recording is useful for recovery if an archive is missing, but it does not replace the need to secure replay rights.

Set the audience correctly for children’s stories
If the stories are directed to children, designate the content as Made for Kids. YouTube disables features including live chat, live chat replay, Super Chat, comments on live archives and upcoming streams, and reminder notifications for Made for Kids streams. Personalized ads are disabled, although contextual advertising may still appear. Do not plan audience interaction around live chat or assume personalized advertising will be available.

YouTube’s kids and family quality guidance says channels primarily targeting young audiences or classified as Made for Kids need to meet its quality principles. It gives heavily commercial or promotional low-quality content as an example that can lead to YPP suspension, and individual videos may receive limited or no ads. A 24/7 schedule, repeated playback, or watch time does not guarantee monetization; treatment depends on the channel and content.
