YouTube does not automatically turn a watch-page playlist into a 24/7 live broadcast. To keep a channel live, prepare a continuous video feed, send it through a compatible encoder using your YouTube server URL and stream key, and monitor it in YouTube Studio. Before broadcasting market quotes, news footage, music, or graphics, confirm that you have the rights to show and redistribute each element.
What “playlist” means for a 24/7 live stream
A YouTube watch playlist is not, by itself, a live broadcast source. You need a playout system that continuously supplies video—such as a rotation of permitted prerecorded segments or a generated market bulletin—to an encoder. The encoder sends that feed to YouTube Live. YouTube’s encoder guide explains how to send a feed, but does not document an automatic watch-playlist-to-live-stream feature.

Plan the source and the encoder as separate parts of the chain: content or graphics are assembled into a continuous program; the playout system outputs that program; and the encoder sends it to YouTube. A digital bulletin may not require a camera or microphone. Equipment depends on how the feed is produced.
Check permissions before assembling market content

Subscribers may not redistribute data except as allowed by the applicable agreement, which defines permitted use, handling, transmission, and end-user restrictions.

Do not assume that a quote visible on a screen, a paid feed, or a broker subscription grants the right to rebroadcast it publicly. Confirm the precise display and redistribution rights with the relevant exchange or data provider. The NSE policy does not establish permissions for BSE data, other vendors’ feeds, news footage, or every legal issue in India.
Video, audio, and other material
Check the rights for every element in the program, including news clips, music, images, graphics, and third-party reporting. A live format does not make copyrighted material or market data free to republish. Include only material you are authorized to broadcast and, where relevant, to make available in an archive.

Set up a self-hosted YouTube encoder stream
- Prepare a continuous source. Build the rotation or generated bulletin in a playout system that can keep producing a feed. Confirm that the output remains continuous when a segment ends, a file is missing, or the program reaches the end of its list.
- Create or schedule the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create a live stream or schedule one. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup to obtain the server URL and stream key. Treat the key as a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not control the stream.
- Configure the encoder. Enter the YouTube server URL and stream key in a compatible encoder, select the continuous feed as its input, and use the ingest method supported by both YouTube and the encoder. YouTube’s general encoder instructions do not specify a universal bitrate, resolution, or keyframe interval for every source and encoder; use the applicable encoder guidance and YouTube’s current settings for the format you intend to send.
- Start sending the feed. Start the encoder’s output. YouTube says the watch page is created when the encoder begins sending content. If the stream is scheduled, wait for the preview to appear in Live Control Room, then select Go live.
- Monitor the actual broadcast. Keep Live Control Room available and check that video and audio (if used) are arriving and that the public output matches the intended program. Arrange monitoring for the playout source, encoder, power, and network connection; an encoder setup alone does not guarantee uninterrupted operation.
Choose RTMP or HLS only when your setup supports it
For a standard encoder setup, use YouTube’s server URL and stream-key instructions with an ingest method supported by your encoder. HLS is a separate choice for a compatible workflow, not a set of settings to apply to every stream.

YouTube says HLS has higher latency than continuous RTMP. If the bulletin needs to feel immediate, account for that trade-off. YouTube’s HLS instructions specify 1–4 second segments, TS segment format, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, HTTPS POST or PUT, and no encryption beyond HTTPS. These requirements apply to HLS; do not apply them to an RTMP setup. The suitable latency for a particular channel depends on its workflow.

Keep the broadcast running and plan for archives
A self-hosted encoder depends on the computer or hardware running it, continuous power, the local network, and the playout source. A mini PC is one possible category of local machine for an always-on encoder, but YouTube does not specify a mini PC, minimum hardware, or a tested model. Check the requirements of the chosen encoder and source before buying equipment.
YouTube Help states: “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” That does not promise that one 24/7 stream will produce a complete replay. If you need replays, plan archive segments and verify YouTube’s current behavior before relying on a full-day video. Monitor for dropped connections and failures in the source as well as in the encoder.
