Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo run recorded exam lessons as a continuous YouTube live channel, send them through an encoder: software on a computer, a dedicated hardware encoder, or a cloud service. YouTube receives the encoder’s video and audio feed through a server URL and stream key. First verify that your channel can livestream, prepare a rights-cleared lesson sequence, test it, then monitor the feed after launch.
Before you set up the stream
- Check channel access. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before your planned launch. YouTube’s live-streaming requirements
- Clear the content. Confirm you have permission to stream every lesson and every included element, such as slides, music, textbook excerpts, images, and instructor material. Educational use does not automatically grant permission. YouTube says live streams must follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service; it can age-restrict or remove a stream or restrict live access.
- Plan for both live and on-demand viewing. Label lessons clearly so students joining midstream know what is playing. Keep original lesson files and publish ordinary videos or playlists for dependable, searchable access outside the live feed.
- Choose who will operate it. A computer-based setup depends on that computer, its power, and its internet connection. A hardware encoder requires compatible equipment. A cloud service can keep the stream running without a home computer, but its limits, recovery behavior, price, support, and data-handling terms should be checked before committing.
Choose how to send the recorded lessons
YouTube’s encoder guidance describes software and hardware encoders and lists options for prerecorded 24/7 streaming. These are examples, not endorsements or guarantees of uninterrupted operation. Evaluate the product and its fit for your needs.

| Route | What YouTube’s guidance identifies | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder on a computer | YouTube lists OBS as open-source software available at no charge. | Computer availability, power and internet continuity, setup skill, and scheduling and recovery features. |
| Dedicated hardware encoder | YouTube lists hardware encoders; its AJA HELO Plus entry describes scheduled prerecorded-media streaming. | Purchase cost, supported media and scheduling workflow, storage, monitoring, service, and whether the hardware suits your scale. |
| Cloud service | YouTube lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded video. | Current price, file limits, scheduling, recovery, data handling, regional availability, support, and export options. |
Set up and test the YouTube live feed
- Enable livestreaming. Verify your channel and confirm it has no live-streaming restriction. If this is your first stream, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Choose the encoder and prepare the sequence. Arrange the lessons in the order you want them to play. Include only material you have the right to stream, and use descriptive lesson names. Check how the chosen encoder handles the end of a playlist and the transition back to its beginning.
- Create or schedule a broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open Go Live and create or schedule the stream. YouTube treats a broadcast as a distinct video event.
- Connect the encoder. Copy the YouTube server URL and stream key into the encoder’s streaming settings. Keep the stream key private: it grants access to send a feed to your stream. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Run a private or unlisted rehearsal. Check that the intended broadcast is live in YouTube Studio. Verify lesson order, picture, audio, transitions, stream health, and what viewers see between recordings. Test the restart or recovery procedure rather than assuming the encoder will resume correctly after a drop.
- Launch and monitor. Keep an operator responsible for stream health and, if enabled, chat. Maintain the source files and lesson sequence, and have a plan for restarting the encoder or reconnecting it if the feed stops.
- Keep on-demand copies separately. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not count on one 24-hour event becoming one complete replay: retain the original files and publish recordings or playlists for students who need to find a lesson later. How a continuous channel can coexist with a separate live event
YouTube’s Live Streaming API distinguishes a liveStream, the incoming media feed and its settings, from a liveBroadcast, a distinct video event. Google’s documentation describes a channel with a 24/7 feed that also creates a separate interview broadcast using the same stream; the continuous feed remains live when the additional broadcast ends. That architecture can be useful if you want a separate revision Q&A event without ending the always-on channel. YouTube Live Streaming API: broadcasts and streams
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Copyright, policy, and monetization
Review rights for the complete recording, not just the teacher’s narration. A lesson can include third-party material in slides, background music, book pages, images, or video clips. YouTube’s live-stream rules still apply, and a stream may be age-restricted or removed. Do not assume that a classroom purpose makes every included work permissible.

Do not budget on guaranteed advertising income. YouTube says a channel in the YouTube Partner Program can monetize a live stream, but eligibility and settings matter, and ad delivery is not guaranteed. Check YouTube’s current monetization guidance and your own channel’s eligibility before relying on revenue.
Troubleshoot common problems
- Live streaming is unavailable: check channel verification, any live-streaming restriction, and whether first-time activation has had up to 24 hours to complete.
- YouTube is not receiving the encoder feed: confirm you copied the server URL and stream key for the intended broadcast and entered them in the encoder’s streaming settings. If the key may have been exposed, rotate it and update the encoder.
- The wrong lesson plays or the sequence stops: inspect the playlist or schedule in the encoder, then test its end-of-list behavior and loop boundary in a private or unlisted rehearsal.
- The feed drops: check the encoder and its internet connection, then follow the tested restart and reconnection plan. Do not treat a 24/7 goal as proof of uninterrupted uptime.
- Students cannot find a complete replay: a 24-hour feed is not assured to become one complete archive. Keep original recordings and publish them separately as videos or playlists.
- A stream is restricted or removed: review YouTube’s notice and the Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and rights for all included material before streaming again.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for looping uploaded videos or playlists; it does not stream from a camera. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers; it includes 10 GB storage per slot, pooled across active slots. If YouTube drops the stream, StreamNeo automatically recovers. The first day is free with no card, once per account. Monthly: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free first day.
