You can run a 24/7 YouTube chillhop stream from a Windows PC with OBS, but the first requirement is a license that explicitly permits your continuous live broadcast and any saved replay. “Royalty-free” does not automatically mean public domain or permission to rebroadcast music around the clock. Confirm the rights and any Content ID allowlisting before configuring the stream; otherwise YouTube may interrupt it or apply a claim.
Get permission for the exact use before going live
YouTube’s livestream terms make the creator responsible for having the rights needed to exploit live content worldwide, including music licensing rights. Read the YouTube livestream terms and obtain written permission for every track or catalog you plan to use.

Ask the rights holder to confirm that its grant covers all of the following:
- A continuous, creator-operated livestream on YouTube—not just music in ordinary edited videos.
- The channel you intend to use, the territories where the stream will be available, and your planned monetization.
- The saved livestream archive or VOD, if YouTube will retain one.
- Any attribution, reporting, or other license conditions.
- Whether the channel must be allowlisted in Content ID and how to resolve an incorrect claim.
Keep the license, track list, and any written allowlisting confirmation. A license and Content ID allowlisting are separate operational checks: YouTube says a live stream can be interrupted when it matches third-party content, and a licensed channel may still need to be allowlisted by the rights holder. Why “royalty-free” chillhop may still be off limits
“Royalty-free” describes a type of licensing arrangement; it is not the same as public domain, and it does not grant every use by default. Read the actual license for the particular music and use case.
Chillhop’s creator program excludes creator-run 24/7 streams
Chillhop’s creator FAQ says its music is not royalty-free and states: “Please do not use our music to create your own 24/7 music stream.” It also says its website livestream player and Spotify or Apple Music playlists are not permitted sources for a creator’s YouTube or Twitch livestream. Do not route those feeds into OBS as a substitute for a license.

Chillhop’s creator terms, last updated 17 August 2026, describe a limited license for designated tracks in qualifying audiovisual productions on linked channels. The program is for eligible registered individuals, requires credits, excludes standalone audio, and does not cover commercial or corporate use. Those terms do not override the FAQ’s explicit restriction on making your own 24/7 music stream.
Creator Music is not established as permission for a continuous live stream
YouTube’s Creator Music license information says availability is limited to U.S. creators in the YouTube Partner Program, and a removed license no longer protects a track from copyright claims. The information available here does not establish that a Creator Music license allows continuous 24/7 livestream use. Verify the current license terms for the specific track and use before relying on it.

Prepare the Windows PC and YouTube live event
Once your music rights are documented, use YouTube’s current live-streaming setup guidance to enable and create the live event. The exact dashboard labels can change; follow the current YouTube flow for scheduling or starting a stream and selecting an encoder. OBS is a free software option according to the OBS Project Help Portal, but installing OBS does not grant music rights.
- Enable live streaming on the intended channel. Complete any YouTube eligibility or verification steps shown in YouTube Studio before planning a launch.
- Create the live event in YouTube Studio. Choose the stream’s visibility and whether an archive should be retained. For an initial rights check, use private or unlisted visibility where available.
- Choose the encoder workflow and retrieve the stream key. Use the stream key provided for that event or channel in YouTube Studio. Treat it like a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not broadcast to your channel.
- Open OBS and configure the YouTube connection. Follow OBS’s current setup instructions for connecting to YouTube, then select the correct event or enter the stream key as the workflow requires.
- Add only authorized audio and visuals. Use local audio files or other sources only when the license explicitly permits this broadcast. Do not capture a consumer streaming service or a public radio feed unless its rights holder has expressly licensed that redistribution.
- Check the preview and dashboard before starting. Confirm the expected audio and image are present, the correct event is selected, and YouTube has not displayed a rights warning. Start with a private or unlisted test using documented music.
The available official setup material supports using OBS and YouTube’s live workflow, but it does not establish a tested Windows hardware specification, bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, or OBS configuration for an uninterrupted 24/7 stream. Use the current YouTube and OBS guidance for the selected stream mode rather than treating an unverified preset as a guarantee.

Test claims, then monitor the stream
- During a private or unlisted test, watch YouTube Studio for copyright notices, interruptions, or other stream warnings.
- If a licensed track is matched, contact the rights holder using the claim-resolution process it specified and confirm whether your channel needs Content ID allowlisting. Do not assume that your copy of a license automatically prevents an automated interruption.
- After ending a test, inspect the saved archive if one was created. YouTube says copyright claims on archived streams may be applied after the live stream finishes.
- Before leaving a self-hosted stream running, account for the PC, OBS, power, and network connection: all must remain available for the broadcast to continue. A Windows PC and OBS do not by themselves provide a 24/7 uptime guarantee.
