You can stream Om chanting around the clock from a Windows PC by creating an encoder stream in YouTube Studio and sending it from OBS using YouTube’s stream URL and stream key. The PC, internet connection, power, and media must keep working for the broadcast to continue; YouTube’s guidance does not guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 operation. Set up and test the full chain before relying on it.
Check channel access and prepare your content
- Enable live streaming in advance. In YouTube Studio, use YouTube’s encoder setup guide to start the Live Control Room workflow. YouTube says channels must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and be operated by creators aged 16 or older. First-time live activation may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave this until broadcast day.
- Choose the audio and visuals. Decide whether to show a static image with the chant or a video. Use original material or material you have the rights to stream. A devotional theme, public availability, or a license by itself does not ensure that YouTube will leave a live stream uninterrupted.
- Plan for a PC that stays available. The Windows computer must remain powered on and connected, and the encoder must continue running. Prevent sleep or hibernation during the broadcast, keep the PC ventilated, and ensure Windows or other software will not force an unexpected restart. These are practical local-computer precautions, not a YouTube guarantee of uptime.
Create the YouTube stream and connect OBS
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live, then use the Live Control Room’s Stream workflow to create the broadcast.
- Install OBS, an open-source software encoder that YouTube lists as available at no charge. OBS sends your media to YouTube and can combine sources such as audio and images.
- In the Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key into OBS’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, reset it using YouTube’s stream-key controls.
- Start streaming from OBS. Wait for the preview in Live Control Room, check that the picture and audio are correct, then start the broadcast using YouTube’s stream workflow. Do a complete test before the intended 24/7 run, and keep an eye on stream health.

Choose resolution, bitrate, and network settings
For a mostly static image and chanting audio, a higher resolution is not automatically better. Select a resolution your PC can encode and your measured upload connection can sustain. YouTube recommends testing upload speed and leaving about 20% upload headroom; use a reliable connection and reduce the resolution or bitrate if tests show dropped frames or unstable upload.
- Protocol: Prefer RTMPS when available in the encoder and stream settings.
- Rate control: Use CBR (constant bitrate).
- Keyframes: Set a two-second interval; YouTube says it should not exceed four seconds.
- Audio: YouTube’s encoder guidance specifies AAC or MP3. Check your audio meters and listen to the preview for clipping, silence, or unwanted noise.
- Video bitrate: YouTube’s current H.264 recommendations include 4 Mbps for 720p at 30 or 60 fps, 5 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps, and 6 Mbps for 1080p at 60 fps. These are platform recommendations, not a promise that your PC or internet connection can sustain them. These values apply to H.264; YouTube gives different ranges for AV1 and HEVC.
For a still background, 720p may be adequate and easier to sustain than 1080p. Choose based on testing rather than selecting the highest available option. A wired connection may be convenient for a stationary PC, but YouTube does not require Cat6 or any particular cable category. Plan for session length and replay archives
YouTube warns that a live stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive at all. If you need a replay, plan archive-conscious sessions and make a local recording as a backup. YouTube recommends testing the setup in advance, checking the preview, confirming local archive files continue to grow, and monitoring audio and video during the stream.
Splitting a continuous broadcast into shorter sessions may help with archive planning, but the documentation does not promise an uninterrupted viewer experience during a stop and restart. Copyright, rights, and monetization
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, warn the streamer, interrupt or terminate the broadcast, or apply a strike. YouTube also says a rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist even when you believe you have a license. Keep documentation covering both the chant recording and any images or video, and prefer material you created or have permission to use. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Common problems and fixes
- You cannot start a live stream: Check channel verification, eligibility, and any live-stream restriction. If this is the channel’s first live activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder: Check that OBS has the correct stream URL and current key, that the key was not reset, and that the PC is online. Recopy the credentials from Live Control Room rather than reusing a possibly outdated key.
- Dropped frames or unstable stream health: Run an upload-speed test, leave the recommended headroom, and lower the video resolution or bitrate until the connection sustains the stream. Check other devices and applications using the connection.
- Audio is silent, clipped, or interrupted: Check the selected OBS audio source, meters, and preview; listen to the stream rather than relying only on the desktop output. Verify the source recording plays through its full duration and loops as intended.
- The stream is interrupted after a copyright match: Review the notice in YouTube Studio. Confirm rights for the audio and visuals, and ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting if appropriate. A license does not necessarily prevent an automated interruption.
- The replay is missing: Check whether the session exceeded 12 hours; YouTube says it may not capture longer streams. Make and verify a local recording if you need an archive.
- The stream stops when unattended: Check PC sleep settings, power, network, OBS status, and whether Windows restarted. Local checks can identify common causes, but they cannot guarantee continuous operation.
