To keep meditation music playing continuously, loop the audio at its source: in OBS Studio, enable Loop for one file or Loop Playlist for a playlist. That prevents playback from stopping when the file or playlist ends; it cannot guarantee an uninterrupted internet connection, encoder, or YouTube broadcast. For music you did not create, clear livestream and replay rights before going live.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel eligible to livestream. YouTube says the channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. Check the current YouTube live-streaming eligibility guidance and your Live Control Room for account-specific status.
- OBS Studio and the meditation audio or video files you plan to play. For OBS’s VLC Video source, VLC must also be installed.
- Music you control or permission that covers the livestream and, if you keep a replay, that replay too.
Set up a YouTube livestream and connect OBS
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or configure a stream using the encoder workflow. YouTube supports encoder-based broadcasts; follow the current getting-started instructions for account setup and stream creation.
- Open the stream’s settings in YouTube Studio and copy its stream key into OBS using YouTube’s stream settings instructions. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, share it, or show it in a recording. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
- In OBS, confirm the selected stream service and key, then configure and test the scene before starting the broadcast. Keep YouTube’s Live Control Room open so you can check the preview and stream health.
Loop one meditation file in OBS
- In the OBS Sources panel, select + and add Media Source.
- Choose the local audio or video file. If you want only audio, make sure the scene still sends any video YouTube expects, such as a still image; check that the source’s audio is reaching the OBS mixer.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source properties and select OK.
- Play the source and listen to the file’s ending and restart. OBS documents the Media Source loop setting in its Media Sources guide.
Loop a playlist in OBS
- Install VLC if it is not already installed. OBS requires VLC for the VLC Video source type to appear.
- In OBS, choose Sources > + > VLC Video, then add the meditation tracks in the order you want them played.
- Enable Loop Playlist in the source properties and apply the settings.
- Play through at least one transition and the end of the playlist. Confirm that the next track starts as expected and its audio is audible in the OBS mixer. See OBS’s Media Sources guide for the playlist controls.
Prevent gaps at track boundaries
A loop repeats the file or playlist; it does not edit the audio. If a file ends with silence, the next begins with silence, or the edit contains a pause, listeners can still hear a gap. Inspect the boundary in an audio editor or play the tracks in sequence before broadcasting. For a seamless transition, prepare the files with matching edits and levels rather than relying on OBS to remove silence or abrupt cuts.

Also check that the files play reliably in your chosen source and that the playlist order is correct. A smooth local transition is only one part of continuity: the encoder must continue sending audio and video, and YouTube must continue receiving them.

Check the stream before leaving it unattended
- Start the encoder and inspect YouTube’s live preview before relying on the broadcast. Verify that video appears and that the audio is audible on the preview, not just in your local headphones.
- Check the OBS audio mixer for activity while the track plays. YouTube’s Live Streaming API documents
noAudioStreamas a stream health issue, so a picture alone is not proof that the broadcast includes sound: LiveStreams API documentation. - Watch the Live Control Room health indicators and respond to warnings. Keep OBS and the network connection running; a local loop cannot recover a stopped computer or a failed connection.
- Test your restart and recovery steps before you need them. A computer crash, encoder stop, network outage, or YouTube interruption can pause or end delivery even when the playlist is configured correctly.
Understand what “24/7 without gaps” can mean

- Track continuity: correct file order, loop settings, clean edits, and consistent audio levels.
- Encoder continuity: OBS remains open and sends the intended audio and video.
- Connection and platform continuity: the uplink and YouTube ingest stay healthy; use the Live Control Room to monitor delivery.
- Rights continuity: the music remains authorized for the live use and any replay, with Content ID allowlisting arranged where needed.
A 24/7 title does not itself establish that one YouTube live event can run indefinitely, that every broadcast will remain available, or that a replay will be archived as expected. YouTube’s current Studio workflow and archive behavior should be checked for the channel and broadcast plan; do not promise an indefinite event or a guaranteed archive.
Clear music rights before broadcasting
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. Its copyright guidance for live streams says streams may be interrupted or terminated when copyrighted content is detected. A licence alone may not prevent a live interruption: YouTube advises creators using licensed third-party content to ask the owner to add their channel to the Content ID allowlist.

- For original music, make sure you control the relevant rights and that no distributor or rights administrator is claiming it in a way that could interrupt the stream.
- For third-party music, obtain permission for the intended livestream and any saved replay, and ask the relevant owner to allowlist the channel through Content ID where applicable.
- Keep the permission and allowlisting confirmation accessible. Do not assume that music described as royalty-free, licensed, or available online is automatically cleared for a continuous YouTube livestream.
Choose between a local computer and a cloud service
Run OBS on a computer you operate
A local encoder means your computer runs OBS and must remain powered, connected, and monitored. You can use an existing suitable computer or a separate mini PC; the reviewed sources do not establish a universal minimum CPU, memory, storage, or network specification. Test the actual scene and stream workload, and consider reliability, power use, cooling, operating-system compatibility, and who can restart the system if something fails.
