You can run a continuous K-pop instrumental study-music stream on YouTube with an encoder, a verified channel, a stable internet connection and—most importantly—music and visuals cleared for the exact use. For a true 24/7 broadcast, plan for monitoring and recovery; YouTube may not capture streams longer than 12 hours as an archive, so one uninterrupted stream is not a reliable way to create a complete video-on-demand recording.
Before you start: clear the music and visual rights
Removing vocals does not make a K-pop song free to use. An instrumental arrangement, cover or recreation may still use a protected composition, and a recording can have separate rights. Before scheduling, confirm that you have permission for the sound recording and composition, the visual pairing, livestream transmission, intended territories, monetization (if applicable), and any archive you plan to keep or publish. The required permissions depend on the tracks, rights holders and applicable territories. YouTube’s terms make creators responsible for obtaining the rights needed for live content: YouTube Terms of Service.

Keep licenses and written permissions accessible, along with any correspondence about Content ID. If a label, distributor or music provider controls the tracks, ask whether it can add your channel to its Content ID allowlist and confirm that the permission covers a continuous live stream. A license alone may not prevent an interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Do not assume that “instrumental,” “cover,” crediting the artist, or writing “no copyright intended” grants permission. Even a short unlicensed use can receive a claim.
- YouTube’s Audio Library is one place to find music, but check the terms for each track and your intended use; a listing does not by itself establish permission for every territory, livestream, monetization or archive scenario. See YouTube’s Audio Library guidance.
- Use visuals you own or have permission to pair with the music. Album art, anime scenes, fan edits and other images can have separate rights from the audio.
Decide whether the stream will be public, monetized and archived, and which territories it will reach before you seek permission. A permission for one use or territory should not be treated as worldwide clearance or as permission for a different use.

What YouTube checks during a live stream
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. It says: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” If it detects a match, YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you; if the issue continues, it may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. Even licensed music can be interrupted unless the rights holder has added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Archived live streams can also receive Content ID claims after the broadcast.
For that reason, do not treat a successful unlisted test as proof that a track is cleared. Confirm the rights and allowlisting arrangements with the relevant owner or provider before committing to a long public run. YouTube’s explanation is at Copyright issues with live streams.
Prepare your channel, playlist and equipment
Check channel eligibility early
YouTube’s live-streaming guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. First-time live activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it at least a day before your planned launch. Review YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance and live-streaming restrictions.

Build the audio and visual loop
Prepare a playlist of cleared tracks and a visual loop cleared for use with them. Check the transitions between tracks, playback levels and loop point; a stream that is technically live can still fail as a listening experience if there are gaps, abrupt level changes or a frozen visual. Keep the track order and permission records available to whoever will monitor the broadcast.
Choose an encoder and connection you can monitor
An encoder gives you control over a designed music-and-visual feed. YouTube describes both software and hardware encoder workflows and says a laptop can be used; the cited guidance does not establish a minimum computer specification for a static-art stream. Start with suitable hardware you already own rather than buying a new machine without a specific need. The important practical considerations are reliable operation over long runs, compatibility with YouTube’s ingest settings, and how you will notice and recover from a disconnect.
Choose a stream quality your upload connection can sustain. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate and allowing 20% upload headroom; a disruption in connectivity can break the stream. For static artwork, high frame rate or 4K is not established as necessary by the platform guidance cited here. Prioritize a stable feed and readable artwork, and use YouTube’s current encoder settings for the resolution and ingest codec you select rather than copying generic bitrate figures. See YouTube’s encoder settings and network guidance for live streaming.

Set up the broadcast in YouTube Studio
- Enable live streaming: verify the channel and activate live streaming at least 24 hours before the first broadcast. Check that there is no live-streaming restriction on the channel.
- Create or schedule the event: in YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live, then set up the stream in Live Control Room. Choose the title, audience setting, visibility and schedule that match your rights and publishing plan.
- Copy the ingest details: in Live Control Room, copy YouTube’s stream URL and stream key into your encoder. Keep the key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a broadcast to your channel. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before going live.
- Set and check encoder output: choose a resolution and codec supported by YouTube’s current settings, then set the output to a bitrate your tested upload can sustain with headroom. Confirm that the audio is present and the visual loop is playing correctly.
- Run an unlisted test: inspect the Live Control Room preview and stream-health messages before publishing. Listen for silence, clipping, gaps and abrupt transitions; check that the artwork moves or loops as intended. An unlisted test helps find technical problems but does not establish that music rights are cleared.
- Publish and monitor: start the encoder, confirm the preview is healthy, then make the event public when ready. Keep checking stream health, audio and video during operation, and have someone responsible for responding to warnings or interruption.
YouTube for Artists recommends an encoder for a more customized stream and recommends testing, particularly for a high-investment production. Its workflow guidance is available at YouTube for Artists. YouTube’s live tips also emphasize previewing and monitoring the stream: YouTube live-streaming tips.
Plan for interruptions and the 12-hour archive limit
A 24/7 schedule is not a guarantee of uninterrupted playback. The encoder, home or studio connection, power, YouTube ingest and copyright checks can all require attention. YouTube recommends continuous monitoring and a local recording as a backup where an archive matters. A local recording does not grant rights to retain or publish the music.
YouTube automatically archives streams that are under 12 hours, but says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a dependable YouTube VOD, schedule shorter sessions under 12 hours or record a local copy and verify it. Confirm that your music permissions cover the archive as well as the live transmission. Details are in YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance.

Choose a workflow that matches your priorities
Existing computer with a software encoder
This is a practical starting point if you already have suitable equipment and can keep it, the encoder and the connection running. You control the setup directly, but a long run needs a monitoring and recovery plan. YouTube’s guidance does not identify a best encoder product for a static music stream or prescribe minimum hardware for it.
Dedicated hardware encoder
A hardware encoder is another YouTube-supported approach. Compare it with software on compatibility, long-run reliability, reconnection behavior and how you will monitor it. The cited platform guidance does not establish that dedicated hardware is necessary or superior for this use case.

One uninterrupted broadcast gives listeners a single continuing live destination, but it is not a dependable way to obtain one complete YouTube archive because streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Shorter sessions make it easier to retain YouTube’s under-12-hour auto-archive behavior, at the cost of planned restarts and a need to manage each session. Choose based on whether continuity or an on-platform VOD matters more.

Licensed catalog or original tracks
A catalog license can save you from sourcing each track individually, but check that its terms cover live performance, visual synchronization, territories, monetization and archives, and ask how Content ID interruptions are handled. Original or commissioned tracks can give you clearer control only if the relevant agreements actually grant those uses for both the composition and recording.
Common problems and fixes
- Live streaming is unavailable: verify the channel, activate live streaming in advance and check for a restriction within the preceding 90 days.
- The preview is blank, silent or unstable: confirm that the encoder is using the current YouTube stream URL and key, the intended audio and video sources, and a supported output configuration. Review Live Control Room’s stream-health messages and run another unlisted test.
- The stream drops or buffers: check the upload connection and encoder status, then reduce output demands if the connection cannot sustain them. Retest bitrate and preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% upload headroom; a network disruption can break the stream.
- YouTube shows a copyright warning or replaces the stream: pause or stop the affected material and contact the rights holder or provider. Confirm permission for the exact use and ask whether your channel must be added to the Content ID allowlist. Do not assume a license automatically prevents a live interruption.
- The live ends but there is no complete replay: streams longer than 12 hours may not be archived. Use shorter sessions or a verified local recording if an archive is important, with rights that cover retention and publication.
- The stream is interrupted while nobody is watching the encoder: assign someone to monitor it and define who will respond to a network, encoder or rights interruption. A 24-hour schedule still needs a recovery plan.
Or let it run in the cloud
If keeping a computer and home connection running is the part you want to avoid, StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos in the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it plays uploaded videos, not a camera feed, and it is for YouTube only. Every slot streams what you upload, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot rather than quality tiers, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. Each slot includes 10 GB of storage (pooled across active slots), looping and playlists, and support from the StreamNeo team. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are accepted in India; card checkout is available worldwide. Review StreamNeo, then start your free first day.
Cost and audience expectations
A do-it-yourself setup may use a computer and encoder you already have, but it still depends on electricity, a stable upload connection and active monitoring. YouTube’s guidance does not establish minimum hardware requirements or a tested cost for running this particular stream, so assess your existing equipment and operating costs before buying anything.

YouTube for Artists reported that over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That broad platform statistic is not a forecast of audience size for a new K-pop study-music channel; discoverability and interest in this specific stream are not established by it.
