You can stream Indian music on YouTube at 720p if your measured upload connection can sustain the full outgoing stream bitrate with headroom. For a practical starting setup, use 1280 × 720 at 30 fps, H.264 video at 6 Mbps, AAC stereo audio at 128 Kbps, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval. YouTube recommends keeping 20% upload-bandwidth headroom; a connection described as “720p” does not by itself show whether it can sustain a 24/7 broadcast.
What “720p upload connection” means for a livestream
720p describes the video resolution, not the upload speed provided by an internet plan. YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends 6 Mbps of H.264 video bitrate for both 720p30 and 720p60, with 3 Mbps listed as the minimum for either mode. Audio adds to the total outgoing bitrate, so you need to measure upload capacity rather than rely on a plan label. YouTube’s encoder settings and network guidance are recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular connection will stay stable around the clock.

For mostly static music visuals—such as a still image or gently changing background—720p30 is a sensible starting point. This is a practical choice, not a YouTube requirement. Choose 60 fps only if the visual content benefits from smoother motion and your encoder and connection can handle it.

Use YouTube’s encoder settings page to check its current recommendations and confirm your encoder is actually sending the selected resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate.

Check whether your upload connection has enough capacity
YouTube recommends 20% headroom above the total stream bitrate. As a rough planning example, a 6 Mbps video stream plus 128 Kbps audio has a combined configured bitrate of 6.128 Mbps; leaving 20% headroom means you would want roughly 7.36 Mbps of sustained available upload capacity for that stream. Treat that as a calculation from the configured bitrates, not as a guarantee of stability.
- Run an outbound speed test on the same connection and, as far as practical, under the conditions in which you plan to broadcast.
- Account for the video bitrate, audio bitrate, and any backup stream or other traffic sharing the upload connection.
- Compare the combined stream bitrate with the measured available upload capacity, leaving YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom.
- If your encoder supports it and your visuals do not need 60 fps, test at 720p30 before trying 720p60. Do not assume that a lower resolution label alone will solve an upload bottleneck if the configured bitrate is unchanged.
- Where your computer and router support it, a wired Ethernet connection is an option for connecting to the network. It cannot increase the upload capacity of your internet service or guarantee a stable stream.
Shared networks can reduce the bandwidth available to your stream. YouTube’s advice is straightforward: “Make sure that you have a reliable network.” See its streaming tips for network guidance.

Start a YouTube livestream and test it before going 24/7
- Check channel eligibility. Your channel must be verified and must not have livestream restrictions in the past 90 days. Review YouTube’s live streaming tips if you are unsure whether the channel can stream.
- Create or select a live stream. In YouTube Studio’s live controls, create or choose the stream and locate its stream key. YouTube’s live stream settings guide explains managing those settings.
- Enter the stream key in your encoder. Treat it as a password: YouTube describes the stream key as the address and password the encoder uses to send the feed. Do not share it publicly. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube’s stream settings and update the encoder.
- Configure the encoder. Set the resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate, audio, CBR, and keyframe interval from the table above. Select RTMPS where available.
- Run a test stream. Use the music and visual motion intended for the broadcast, then check the preview in Live Control Room. Confirm that audio and video are present, the event is viewable, and stream health is acceptable before committing to a long session.
- Monitor the broadcast. Watch audio, video, and stream health while live. For a 24/7 channel, plan for ongoing monitoring and possible interruptions; encoder settings do not certify uninterrupted operation.

Music that is available on YouTube, downloadable, or credited in a description is not automatically cleared for a continuous livestream. YouTube requires streamers to have the necessary rights, including music licensing rights, for the content and applicable territory. Its systems scan live streams for third-party matches; unresolved matches may trigger a placeholder, warning, interruption, or termination. Even licensed music can be interrupted if the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID.
