How to Stream 24/7 Indian Music on YouTube from a Windows 11 PC

Before you stream any Indian music, confirm that you have permission to broadcast both the underlying musical works and the particular sound recordings, for YouTube Live and the territories you intend to reach. A consumer subscription or a track being available online does not, by itself, establish rebroadcast rights. Once the rights are clear, you can run a continuous feed from a Windows 11 PC using an encoder such as OBS Studio, YouTube Live Control Room, and a connection and computer configured to stay online. Treat 24/7 as an operating goal, not a guarantee: power, internet, the encoder, YouTube enforcement, or an unnoticed playback problem can interrupt the stream.

Clear the music rights before you configure the stream

YouTube scans live broadcasts for third-party matches. Its Help page, “Copyright issues with live streams,” says: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A detected match can lead YouTube to replace the live image, interrupt the broadcast, or end it. Even if you have a licence, a rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist for the stream not to be interrupted.

YouTube’s livestream terms require the content provider to represent that it has all rights needed for worldwide use of the live content, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. That is a statement in YouTube’s terms, not a determination that a particular Indian licence covers your tracks or channel.

Check both the composition and the recording

A song can involve separate rights in the musical work and in the sound recording. India’s Copyright Act addresses communication of works to the public, including making them available by display or diffusion. The Copyright Office handbook notes that playing a sound recording may require a licence for the underlying music as well as for the recording, depending on the rights and repertoire. A licence from one organization should not be assumed to clear every layer or every track.

  • Confirm the exact track and recording are covered—not just the artist, album, label, or type of music.
  • Ask whether the permission covers YouTube livestreaming, any archive or replay, your intended territories, the full duration, and commercial or monetized use.
  • Ask the relevant rights holders or licensing organizations whether your channel must be allowlisted in Content ID before you go live.
  • Keep written confirmations, licence terms, track lists, and any allowlisting confirmation where you can retrieve them.

IPRS describes licensing for online streaming platforms for its repertoire and/or the author royalty share of its members; PPL India describes a multi-language sound-recording library and licensing. Neither description alone proves that a general licence covers every track, YouTube livestream, archive, territory, or monetization arrangement. Check the scope directly with the relevant rights holders or licensing organizations. This is practical guidance, not legal advice or a decision about a specific licence. The copyright safety checklist can help organize the questions to ask.

Check that your YouTube channel can go live

YouTube’s current live-stream eligibility guidance requires a verified channel with no live-stream restrictions during the preceding 90 days; it also states an age minimum. Check the current eligibility requirements in YouTube Help and confirm live streaming is enabled for your channel before planning a long broadcast. If you have not streamed before, activation or restrictions may prevent an immediate start.

Use YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room to create or schedule a stream, review its settings, and check the preview. YouTube’s controls can change, so follow the labels shown in your account. A scheduled stream is useful for testing the whole path before committing to an overnight or continuous broadcast.

Set up a Windows 11 PC and encoder

The workflow below uses OBS Studio as an example of an encoder; YouTube does not require OBS specifically. The relevant controls can vary by OBS version and YouTube Studio interface. First test with music you own or have permission to use, and use a private or unlisted test if that option is available for your stream.

  • Connectivity: Includes WiFi, Bluetooth, and LAN for wireless and wired connections
  • Memory: Features 16GB DDR4 RAM for smooth multitasking and performance
  • Storage: Combines 500GB SSD and 1TB HDD for ample storage space
  • Graphics: Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 for crisp visuals and video playback
  • Design: Sleek desktop tower with black color and slim profile for modern look
  1. Prepare the playback source. Put the authorized tracks in a playlist or in a reliable local playback setup. Confirm that the files play from beginning to end and that the playlist actually repeats if you expect a loop. Add a static image or other visual you have permission to use. Avoid assuming that a playlist will restart correctly until you have watched it do so.
  2. Create the YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Copy the stream URL/server and stream key shown for that stream. Treat the key like a password: do not put it in a public screenshot, video, chat, or shared document. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
  3. Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open the stream configuration, choose YouTube as the service if offered, and enter the stream key; if using a custom server workflow, use the server URL and key supplied by YouTube. Do not reuse a key from an unrelated stream unless YouTube identifies it as the one you intend to use. Confirm the encoder reports that it is connected.
  4. Build a scene and check audio. Add the authorized music playback source and a suitable visual to an OBS scene. Watch the audio meter while music plays, and listen to the result through the preview or a test stream. Check that Windows playback is not muted, the correct output device is selected, and notification sounds or other desktop audio will not interrupt the programme.
  5. Set a sustainable video profile. YouTube’s general encoder guidance recommends 2 Mbps video bitrate for 720p at 30 frames per second. It lists CBR bitrate mode and a two-second keyframe frequency, and supports RTMP/RTMPS ingestion with H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 options. For a simple static visual, standard definition or 720p may be adequate; choose a profile your PC and connection can sustain rather than treating one setting as universal. If you use YouTube’s 720p30 recommendation, set the encoder’s video bitrate to 2 Mbps, CBR, and keyframes every two seconds, then test the result.
  6. Preview before going public. Start the encoder and check the Live Control Room preview before starting the live broadcast as directed by YouTube’s current controls. Confirm the picture, music level, synchronization, and stream health. Test with the full playback chain—not only a short sample—and verify that the playlist continues and loops as intended.

Bitrate needs depend on the chosen resolution, frame rate, encoder, and connection. YouTube recommends testing upload capacity and leaving 20% headroom; its total-bitrate guidance means the combined stream must fit within available upload bandwidth. A recommendation such as 2 Mbps is not a guarantee that a particular PC or internet connection will avoid dropouts. Prefer a wired connection where practical, and test at the bitrate you plan to use.

Keep the stream running overnight and recover from interruptions

A PC-based stream depends on the computer, encoder, playback source, power, internet connection, and YouTube. YouTube recommends advance configuration, encoder testing, monitoring, and testing failover; it does not promise uninterrupted 24/7 availability. Build a monitoring and recovery plan rather than assuming a stream will repair itself.

Reduce preventable interruptions

  • Prevent sleep. Review Windows 11 power and sleep settings so the PC does not sleep while streaming. Check the settings on the installed Windows version and power profile; a Windows update, laptop lid action, or changed profile can alter behavior.
  • Use stable networking. Prefer Ethernet if available. Avoid large uploads or other network use that could consume the upload headroom during a long stream.
  • Plan maintenance. Install updates and restart the PC before a planned continuous run, not during it. Close unnecessary apps and disable disruptive notifications or scheduled restarts where appropriate.
  • Check the loop and audio. Confirm the source repeats, audio remains audible, and the encoder scene does not switch or go silent after a file ends. Inspect the stream periodically for frozen visuals, silence, clipping, or an unexpected source change.
  • Keep recovery materials ready. Save the playlist and visual assets locally, know how to restart the encoder, and keep the YouTube stream details accessible without exposing the stream key. Verify any local archive file after a test; a recording option is useful only if the file is being written correctly and the disk has room.
  • Consider power backup only for brief outages. A UPS for the PC and router is an optional way to bridge some short power interruptions. It does not keep an ISP connection online through an outage, and no runtime can be assumed without matching the equipment and load.

Use a backup or a documented restart plan

YouTube describes backup encoder failover as a way to prepare for encoder or connection problems. If you configure a backup encoder, test it before relying on it and follow the failover controls shown in Live Control Room. Otherwise, write down the restart sequence: check power and internet, confirm the music source, restart the encoder if necessary, inspect the YouTube preview, and resume the stream using the current Studio controls. Monitor the broadcast often enough to notice a failure; a stream that appears live in one window can still have a silent or frozen programme.

Preflight and recovery checklists

Before starting

  • Channel verification, live eligibility, and any required activation are complete.
  • Track-specific permissions cover the recording and composition, YouTube Live, intended territories, and any archive or monetization; Content ID allowlisting is confirmed where needed.
  • Windows power settings prevent sleep, the PC has stable power, and the internet connection has tested upload headroom.
  • The encoder is using a sustainable profile, the stream key is private, and the YouTube preview shows the expected image and sound.
  • The playlist loops correctly, the audio level is audible and clean, and the restart or failover procedure is known.

If the broadcast stops or becomes silent

  • No connection or dropped frames: Check the PC’s network, router, and available upload capacity. Reduce the encoder bitrate or resolution if the connection cannot sustain the selected profile, then check the Live Control Room preview again.
  • Stream stopped after a copyright match: Review YouTube’s notice and identify the matched content. Do not simply restart with the same track; confirm the relevant rights and channel allowlisting first.
  • Picture is frozen or music has stopped: Check whether the local playlist or playback application is still advancing, whether OBS is using the intended scene and audio source, and whether the PC slept or changed output devices.
  • Stream key rejected or exposed: Verify that the encoder has the current key for the intended YouTube stream. If the key was disclosed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS before reconnecting.
  • Power or ISP outage: Restore the PC, router, and connection, then follow the tested restart or backup-encoder procedure. A UPS may cover some brief power interruptions but cannot fix an internet-provider outage.

Or let it run in the cloud

If the goal is an always-on YouTube channel rather than operating a Windows encoder, StreamNeo is the cloud option to consider first: it keeps uploaded videos running on YouTube, at any quality up to 4K 60fps as uploaded, for one flat price per slot, with the first day free. It is for uploaded videos, not a live camera feed.
