You can stream Indian lo-fi beats on YouTube around the clock with OBS Studio by clearing the music rights first, enabling livestreaming on your channel, and sending a continuous audio-and-visual feed from OBS to YouTube. OBS is only the encoder: it does not grant music rights or guarantee that a computer, internet connection, or stream will stay up for 24 hours.
What you need before starting
- A verified YouTube channel with livestreaming enabled and no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance lists these access requirements.
- Audio you have permission to broadcast continuously on YouTube, and visuals you have rights to use.
- A computer running OBS Studio, a reliable upload connection, and a plan for power, playback, and connection failures.
The word “Indian” describes the music and intended audience here; YouTube’s cited setup and rights requirements do not establish a separate encoder or licensing rule for Indian lo-fi.

Clear the music rights before building the stream
Use original music or obtain permission that explicitly covers continuous YouTube livestreaming, the territories where you expect viewers, monetization if planned, and any recording or archive you intend to retain. Keep written licenses and track-level documentation. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the provider to hold all necessary worldwide rights, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants.

Check the specific catalog and license terms for live use, territories, archive/VOD use, monetization and Content ID handling. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match may replace the picture with a placeholder, and unresolved third-party content can interrupt or terminate the stream. If you have licensed third-party music, ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; YouTube says licensing alone may not prevent an interruption when the channel is not allowlisted. How do I stream music 24/7 on YouTube with OBS?
- Enable live access. Verify your YouTube channel and enable livestreaming. If this is your first time, allow up to 24 hours for activation. Check that the channel has no live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days.
- Create an encoder stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Set its title, description, visibility and other event details. Copy the stream key and server information shown there. Treat the stream key as a password: anyone with it may be able to send a feed to your channel.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, choose YouTube as the service if it is available, then enter or select the stream key as prompted. If using a custom configuration, copy the server URL and key from Live Control Room into OBS’s stream settings. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions describe copying the values into the encoder, starting it, checking the preview, and then going live.
- Prepare a continuous program. Add your rights-cleared audio and visuals to the OBS scene and make sure playback continues through the material you intend to use. OBS does not document a verified 24/7 playlist-automation workflow, so confirm that your chosen playback method loops reliably before relying on it. Do not assume that a static scene or a music file will recover automatically after a software, power, or playback failure.
- Set the output and audio, then test. Use the settings below as a starting point for a common 1080p30 H.264 stream. Test a representative section of the actual program and monitor the Live Control Room preview before making the event public.
- Start and monitor the broadcast. Start streaming from OBS, confirm that YouTube receives a clean preview, and then start the event in Live Control Room if it is not already set to start automatically. Keep a person or operational plan responsible for checking the stream and responding to connection, playback, audio, or rights problems.
What bitrate should I use for a YouTube music livestream?
For H.264 at 1080p30, YouTube lists 10 Mbps as its recommended video bitrate. It recommends constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval (not over four seconds), AAC audio, and 128 Kbps stereo audio. These are YouTube’s published encoder recommendations, not a guarantee that every computer or connection can sustain them. See YouTube’s encoder settings.
| Setting | Starting point for 1080p30 H.264 | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Video bitrate | 10 Mbps recommended by YouTube | Test sustained upload capacity and leave headroom; reduce the output if your connection cannot hold it. |
| Rate control | CBR | Match the encoder setting to YouTube’s recommendation. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds recommended; no more than 4 seconds | Confirm the encoder is applying the interval you set. |
| Audio | AAC, 128 Kbps stereo | Listen to the live preview for clipping, silence, distortion, or an unintended mono mix. |
Choose resolution and frame rate based on the visual content, equipment and sustained connection, then use YouTube’s bitrate table for that format rather than assuming the 1080p30 value fits every output. YouTube supports up to 60 fps and lists H.264, HEVC and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS ingestion. Its networking guidance recommends keeping about 20% of upload capacity available, so a speed test alone is not enough: test a stream using representative audio and visuals while preserving upload headroom. YouTube’s encoder guidance and networking guidance provide the relevant settings and bandwidth advice.

- Positionable design: Pivot the mic in relation to the sound source to optimize your sound quality thanks to the adjustable desktop stand and track your voice in real time with no-latency monitoring
RTMP/RTMPS or HLS: which should I choose?
For an ordinary SDR livestream, YouTube’s standard encoder guidance recommends RTMP/RTMPS settings. Prefer RTMPS when your encoder supports it, because it encrypts the connection. HLS is a separate ingestion option with different requirements and higher latency; YouTube lists OBS among encoders that support HLS output. You do not need to choose HLS merely because OBS can use it. Use YouTube’s HLS-specific instructions when your workflow calls for a codec or HDR setup supported through HLS. Check the current encoder instructions for the applicable ingestion settings.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Can I play lo-fi beats on a YouTube livestream?
Yes, if you have the necessary rights for the particular music and use. A genre label does not grant permission: Indian lo-fi, sampled material, remixes, vocals and instrumental tracks all require rights appropriate to the broadcast. Confirm live-stream, territory, monetization and archive permissions, and arrange Content ID allowlisting with the rights holder where applicable. Without the necessary rights, YouTube may interrupt or terminate a stream even if the music is credited or described as royalty-free.

Plan for interruptions and 24-hour operation
A local OBS setup depends on the computer, OBS, playback source, power and internet connection remaining functional. Before launch, test the complete program, check the Live Control Room preview, confirm the watch page is accessible, monitor audio and video quality, and decide how you will respond to a dropped connection or playback failure. If you use a backup encoder, YouTube advises testing failover in advance. Keep a local recording if you need a copy; platform archiving is not a substitute for an independent recording plan.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not promise a complete archive for one 24-hour livestream. Do not plan on a full-day recording being saved automatically; verify current platform behavior and make an independent recording if the archive matters. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance covers its stated archive boundary.

Common problems and fixes
- OBS cannot start a YouTube stream: Confirm livestreaming is enabled, the channel has no restriction in the prior 90 days, and first-time activation has completed. Re-copy the current stream key and server details from Live Control Room; do not expose the key publicly.
- YouTube does not show the OBS feed: Check that OBS is sending to the selected YouTube service or the exact server URL, and that the key belongs to the intended event. Start the encoder and wait for the preview before starting the public event.
- Buffering, dropped frames or an unstable feed: Compare actual sustained upload capacity with the chosen bitrate, preserve roughly 20% upload headroom, and test the real scene and audio. Lower resolution, frame rate or bitrate if the connection cannot sustain the chosen settings.
- Music is muted, replaced, or the stream is interrupted: Review the rights for every track and territory, then contact the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting. A license does not necessarily prevent automated interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.
- The stream stops after the computer or playback fails: Check power, OBS operation, the playback source and network. A local encoder does not provide automatic recovery from every failure; establish monitoring and a recovery plan rather than assuming the broadcast will continue unattended.
- A 24-hour recording is missing or incomplete: YouTube’s cited guidance only states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Keep a separate local recording when you need a full-length copy.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a YouTube channel to loop uploaded Indian lo-fi recordings without leaving a computer running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It is YouTube-only and plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting from a camera. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on; every slot streams what you upload, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. For Indian creators, UPI and cards are supported. You still need rights to the music and visuals you upload. Start the free first day on StreamNeo.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can YouTube interrupt my stream if I have a music license?
Yes. YouTube says licensed third-party content can still trigger an interruption if the rights holder has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist.
