Set up an encoder in YouTube Studio, connect it with your stream key, test privately or unlisted, and plan how someone—or a cloud service—will notice and recover from interruptions. A licence by itself may not prevent YouTube from interrupting the stream if the channel is not allowlisted by the relevant rights owner.
Clear the music rights before building the stream
An instrumental is not automatically copyright-free. Indian copyright law treats a musical work and a sound recording as distinct protected works, with rights that include communication to the public. A film instrumental may involve rights in the composition as well as the particular recording you plan to play. The rights for a specific track cannot be inferred from its lack of vocals or from the fact that it is available online.

Before scheduling a broadcast, identify the relevant rights holders and obtain permission that covers the actual use. Confirm that the permission applies to livestreaming on YouTube, the territories in which the stream will be available, and any replay or archive you intend to keep. If you are using a re-recorded version rather than the film soundtrack, verify the rights for that recording and the underlying composition separately.
Coordinate with Content ID rights owners
YouTube Help says that all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. A match can lead to a warning, a placeholder replacing the stream, an interruption, or termination. YouTube also warns that a stream can be interrupted even when the creator has licensed the content if the channel has not been added to the rights owner’s Content ID allowlist.

Ask the label, distributor, or other relevant rights owner whether allowlisting is required, and get confirmation for the channel you will use before relying on a licence as an operational safeguard. YouTube for Artists likewise recommends coordinating with a label or distributor when using protected music.
Do not treat statutory licensing as a blanket clearance
The Indian Copyright Act includes a statutory-licence provision concerning broadcasting published literary or musical works and sound recordings. That fact alone does not establish that the provision applies to a particular creator’s YouTube livestream or covers every right and use involved. Applicability depends on the repertoire, channel, territory, platform arrangement, and intended use; check the matter with qualified counsel and the relevant rights holders.
Choose how the feed will stay live
YouTube supports encoder-based livestreaming using software or hardware. For a 24/7 broadcast, the practical difference is where the playout runs and who can respond when it fails.

- Software encoder: A program such as OBS can send the prepared audio-and-video feed from a computer. The computer, encoder, and internet connection must remain available for the broadcast, and you need a way to monitor failures.
- Hardware encoder: YouTube lists the AJA HELO Plus as one hardware option and describes it as supporting YouTube Live streaming, recording, and scheduled prerecorded-media streaming. It is an optional dedicated device, not a requirement or a guarantee of uninterrupted operation.
- Cloud playout: A cloud service can run uploaded videos without requiring your home computer to stay on. Check whether it supports continuous looping, what happens after a platform disconnect, and whether its use fits your rights and archive plans.
Whichever setup you choose, decide who will watch for a stalled feed, network or encoder failures, YouTube warnings, and Content ID interruptions. YouTube’s setup guidance explains how to start an encoder stream; it does not promise uninterrupted 24/7 operation or prescribe a complete staffing, redundancy, or recovery plan.
Set up the YouTube broadcast and encoder
YouTube says first-time live-stream access may take up to 24 hours to enable. Allow for that before your planned launch. YouTube for Artists recommends testing an unlisted stream in advance, particularly when the production represents a substantial investment.
- Enable live streaming. In the YouTube account you intend to use, enable livestreaming and allow time for activation. If live access is not yet enabled, resolve that before scheduling the first broadcast.
- Prepare the programme. Arrange the instrumentals in the intended order or playlist and prepare the video component that will accompany the audio. Use visuals you have permission to display. Confirm that every track in the programme is covered by the permissions described above.
- Create the broadcast in YouTube Studio. Create the stream in YouTube Studio and open its Live Control Room. The stream’s server URL and stream key are the connection details the encoder needs.
- Connect the encoder. In your chosen software or hardware encoder, enter the server URL and stream key supplied for the broadcast, then configure the prepared programme as its input. Treat the key as a credential: do not publish it or include it in a public description.
- Check the preview before going live. Start the encoder feed and inspect the Live Control Room preview. Verify that both the sound and the video are present and that the correct programme is playing. Resolve any warnings before beginning the public broadcast.
- Test before launch. Run an unlisted test stream ahead of the planned go-live date. Check the full playback path, including audio, visuals, encoder output, internet connection, and the person or process responsible for responding to an interruption.
- Start the broadcast. When the preview is correct and the planned start time arrives, start the broadcast from the Live Control Room. Keep the encoder or playout service running and monitor the stream rather than assuming that the initial start guarantees continuous delivery.
Resolution, frame rate, and bitrate
There is no single bitrate or resolution that is right for every encoder and programme. Choose settings using YouTube’s current encoder guidance for the output resolution and frame rate you intend to send, and make sure the connection and encoder can sustain them continuously. Do not raise resolution just because the material is audio-led; use a video format appropriate to the visuals and source material. The YouTube setup information cited here does not specify one tested 24/7 configuration, so a short unlisted test is important for your own equipment and connection.

Plan monitoring, interruptions, and the archive
Have a recovery plan
Decide who will check the Live Control Room and how they will respond if the picture or sound stops, the encoder loses its connection, or YouTube issues a copyright warning. A local software setup also depends on the computer and network remaining available. Hardware may change where the encoder runs, but it does not remove the need to monitor the stream or handle platform-side interruptions.

Do not assume that restarting the encoder will resolve a rights restriction. YouTube may interrupt or terminate a live stream when identified third-party content remains.
Do not count on a complete 24-hour replay
YouTube says livestreams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its guidance does not promise that a full 24/7 broadcast will be archived as one complete replay. If keeping a complete archive matters, make a separate recording or archive plan and confirm that your music permissions cover that recording and replay as well as the live transmission.

Common problems and what to check
- Live streaming is unavailable: First-time activation may take up to 24 hours. Enable livestreaming ahead of the launch instead of waiting until the planned start.
- The Live Control Room has no usable preview: Check that the encoder is running, that it is sending to the stream’s server URL, and that the correct stream key was entered. Inspect the encoder output and the YouTube preview before starting the public broadcast.
- The stream is interrupted after music is detected: Check the Live Control Room warning and contact the rights owner. Confirm whether the channel needs to be added to that owner’s Content ID allowlist; a licence may not prevent interruption without it.
- The feed stops when nobody is at the computer: A computer-based encoder depends on the computer, encoder, and connection staying available. Arrange continuous monitoring and recovery, or use a playout arrangement that runs independently of the home computer.
- The complete day’s stream is not available as a replay: YouTube’s automatic-archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours, not a whole 24/7 broadcast. Use a separate recording plan if a complete replay is essential, with permissions that include the archive.
What a 24/7 Indian instrumental channel can—and cannot—assume
YouTube for Artists reported that, on average, over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That is a platform-wide figure for live viewing, not an audience forecast for an individual Indian film instrumental channel. It does not establish likely views, watch time, or revenue for a particular stream.
Likewise, YouTube’s documented encoder workflow is a way to start a broadcast, not evidence that a particular setup will run continuously without intervention. There is no verified blanket licence for Indian film instrumentals on YouTube established here, and permissions for specific recordings remain track- and use-specific.
