Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteOn a Samsung Galaxy, set Larix Broadcaster’s battery use to Unrestricted, add it to Never sleeping apps, and turn Power saving off while streaming. These settings reduce avoidable background restrictions; they cannot guarantee a 24/7 broadcast, which also depends on the phone, app, power and network.
Change Larix’s battery settings
- Set per-app battery use to Unrestricted. On Samsung’s Android 12 / One UI 4.0 instructions, open Settings → Applications → Larix Broadcaster → Battery → Unrestricted. The label or route may differ on newer software. Android describes Unrestricted as allowing background work, potentially with higher battery use; Optimized applies background limits based on use, while Restricted can prevent background execution. Samsung’s Android 12 instructions are version-specific; see also Android’s background optimization guidance.
- Exclude Larix from Samsung’s sleeping-app list. Open Settings → Battery and device care (or Device care) → Battery → Background usage limits → Never sleeping apps → +, select Larix Broadcaster, then tap Add. Samsung says its application management can move apps into sleeping or deep sleeping states based on usage patterns. Samsung Developer: Application Management and Samsung US battery optimization guidance describe the feature and exception.
- Turn Power saving off for the broadcast. Samsung says this mode restricts background access to Wi-Fi and mobile data, which can interrupt a stream.
Samsung’s US support article was written based on Android 13 and notes that menu names and entry points can vary. If a path does not match your phone, search Settings for “Larix,” “battery,” or “Never sleeping apps.” Confirm the settings on the exact Galaxy device you plan to use.

What the settings do—and what they cannot promise
These controls address background execution, not every cause of a dropped stream. Softvelum’s Larix FAQ says, “Your app will work in background until you close it explicitly,” and describes Android background streaming while the app is backgrounded or the device locked. That is a statement about app capability, not a guarantee of uninterrupted 24/7 operation across Galaxy models, software and app releases, networks, or power conditions.
Samsung notes that in One UI 6 with Android 14, foreground services for apps targeting Android 14 are guaranteed to work as intended only when developed in line with the newer foreground-service API policy. This does not establish Larix’s target SDK or compliance for a particular release, so do not treat the platform note as certification of a specific Larix build. Samsung Developer’s application-management documentation explains the condition.

Choose battery modes with the stream in mind
| Setting | Background behavior | Practical trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Unrestricted | Allows background work. | May use more battery; use for Larix when continuous background operation matters. |
| Optimized | Applies optimization based on user interaction. | Default-style limits may interfere with a long background session. |
| Restricted | Can prevent background execution. | Unsuitable for relying on Larix to keep streaming in the background. |
| Never sleeping apps | Exempts Larix from Samsung’s automatic sleeping-app behavior. | This is separate from Android’s per-app battery mode; set both where available. |
| Power saving | Restricts background Wi-Fi and mobile data, according to Samsung. | Turn it off during a continuous livestream. |
Reduce avoidable battery drain
Samsung identifies screen brightness, time with the screen on, high-resolution streaming, location and other enabled services as factors that increase battery consumption. Lower brightness and avoid services the stream does not need, but do not disable anything Larix requires for capture or connectivity. Samsung’s battery guidance discusses these factors.
A compatible USB-C PD adapter and cable may help keep the phone powered, but charging requirements vary by Galaxy model. Check your phone’s specifications before choosing an accessory. A charger does not establish protection from heat or guarantee uninterrupted operation; the available guidance does not specify a charger model or wattage for this setup.

Check the connection separately
Unrestricted battery use cannot fix a weak or unstable network. Softvelum says worsening network conditions can cause frame loss with RTMP and RTSP. Its FAQ says SRT attempts error recovery within the configured latency period and recommends Adaptive bitrate when the network may be unreliable. A configured bitrate is a target, not a guarantee when connectivity degrades. Use the protocol and bitrate options appropriate to your setup, and assess network stability independently of Samsung’s battery controls. Larix’s FAQ covers these network considerations.
