To stop Pokémon GO from saving GO Snapshot photos, choose Don’t Save when you finish a Snapshot session. For an ongoing block, change the game’s photo permission in your phone’s settings. On iPhone, open Settings and set Pokémon GO’s Photos access to the no-access option; on Android, find the photo or media permission under the game’s app permissions and deny it if available. Menu names vary, and denying permission may affect other photo-related features.
How Pokémon GO handles Snapshot photos
The Pokémon GO Help Center says GO Snapshot photos are saved to device memory and that photo permissions must be enabled for saving. When you leave a Snapshot session, the game offers Save and Don’t Save for that session’s photos. The help page does not document a persistent in-game setting that turns off saving altogether. The Pokémon GO team’s 2019 launch announcement said photos would save automatically once players finished. That describes the feature at launch; the current Help Center also documents the session-level choice and the photo-permission requirement. Pokémon GO announcement, February 11, 2019

| Method | Scope | Where to change it |

| Deny photo access | Ongoing, until you change the phone permission again | Phone settings; the exact labels depend on platform and version |
If you only want to discard one batch of photos, use the in-game choice. If you want the game not to save future Snapshot photos, change its device permission instead.

- Select Never or the current option that denies photo access.
These labels come from a third-party guide whose steps were documented on iOS 12.1.4; current iOS versions may use different wording or arrange the controls differently. Look for Pokémon GO’s Photos access and choose the no-access setting. SolveYourTech iPhone Photos-permission guide
Changing this permission affects future saving; photos already in the Photos library are not removed. The official Help Center confirms the connection between photo permission and saving, but does not establish which other game features might be affected by denying access.

Stop Pokémon GO from saving photos on Android
- Open your device’s Settings app.
- Go to Apps (the label may differ) and select Pokémon GO.
- Open Permissions.
- If a photo or media permission is listed, choose the option that denies it.
Android settings names and permission categories vary by Android version and device manufacturer. Follow the labels shown on your phone; the official Pokémon GO help page confirms that photo permission is required for saving, but does not specify a universal Android Settings path or document the effects of denying permission on other features. If you do not see a relevant permission, use Don’t Save at the end of each Snapshot session.
