If you are watching a playlist on YouTube, turn off the player’s Loop or Repeat control. If OBS is sending episode files to YouTube Live, turn off looping on the OBS source instead. First identify whether one episode or the whole playlist repeats: those are separate settings, and changing the playlist order will not disable either one.
Find which playback control is repeating
YouTube playback, an embedded YouTube player, and local files played through OBS each have their own repeat controls. YouTube does not have one global live-stream setting that disables playlist looping.
- One episode starts over: check the current-video Loop or Repeat setting.
- The entire show starts again after the last episode: check the playlist loop setting.
- Local files are feeding a live stream: check the loop option on the OBS source that plays them.
Turn off repeat in YouTube
On a computer
- Open a video in the playlist and expand the playlist box.
- Turn off the playlist’s Loop control.
- If only the current episode repeats, right-click the video and check the separate single-video Loop option. Make sure it is off.
YouTube documents the computer controls in its Loop videos or playlists on YouTube help page.
On Android
- Start the playlist and use Loop in the playlist control box beneath the video.
- Check the icon’s state: tapping Loop a second time displays a “1,” which means only the current video repeats. If one episode keeps returning, make sure this single-video repeat state is not selected.
See YouTube’s Android instructions.
On a TV or game console
During playlist playback, open the player’s Repeat control or Settings menu. Check that neither “Repeat • Currently playing” nor “Repeat • Playlist” is selected.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
On iPhone or iPad
Use the available player and playlist controls, then verify whether repeat applies to the current episode or the full playlist. The official help page links to platform-specific guidance, but its retrieved instructions do not establish an exact iOS tap sequence; labels and placement can vary with the app interface.
If the playlist is embedded on a website
For a YouTube player controlled with the IFrame Player API, explicitly disable looping with setLoop(false) when initializing or reusing the player. The YouTube IFrame Player API Reference says playlists do not loop by default and that setting loop to false makes playback stop after the final playlist video.

Check reused-player code if the playlist unexpectedly restarts. The API setting persists when a different playlist is loaded, so code that previously enabled looping can leave it enabled for a later playlist. Set it to false explicitly when the player should stop at the end.
If OBS is sending episode files to YouTube Live
Open the properties for the OBS source that contains the episode file or files. The two source types have distinct loop settings; changing YouTube’s playback controls will not change how OBS plays local media into the broadcast.

VLC Video Source: a playlist of files
- Open the VLC Video Source’s properties.
- Turn off Loop Playlist.
- Apply the change and check that playback stops after the last file.
OBS documents Loop Playlist as on by default. A VLC Video Source requires VLC to be installed on the computer running OBS.
Media Source: one file
- Open the Media Source properties for the repeating episode.
- Turn off Loop.
- Confirm that the episode plays through once.
OBS documents the single-file Media Source’s Loop option as off by default, so if the episode still repeats, check that source’s actual setting and whether another source is playing the same file.

Do not confuse visibility behavior with looping
OBS’s Visibility Behaviour setting controls whether a source continues, pauses, or stops when it is not visible in the scene. It is separate from Loop Playlist and Loop, which determine whether media restarts at the end. See OBS’s Media Sources guide (dated 2022-01-11).
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Set podcast episode order separately
Podcast order determines which episode plays first and what follows; it does not turn repeat on or off. YouTube describes a podcast show as a playlist and each episode as a video. In YouTube Studio, edit the podcast and use Default Video Order to choose the sequence:

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
- Episodic show: newest to oldest.
- Serial show: oldest to newest.
Use the order listeners should consume, then separately disable repeat in the playback layer. YouTube’s podcast setup guidance also notes that some playlists are ineligible for podcast features, including content not owned by the creator, and that Shorts supporting a podcast do not appear in YouTube Music.
Quick troubleshooting
- One episode repeats in YouTube: turn off the current-video Loop/Repeat state, including the Android icon state marked “1.”
- The whole YouTube playlist restarts: turn off the playlist Loop or Repeat control.
- An embedded playlist restarts despite the expected default: explicitly call
setLoop(false); inspect code that reuses a player after another playlist. - OBS’s group of files restarts: turn off Loop Playlist in the relevant VLC Video Source.
- One OBS file restarts: turn off Loop in that Media Source.
- You changed the order but playback still repeats: order and loop are independent; change the repeat control on the player or source that owns playback.
