To stop Eney’s proactive suggestions on a Mac, open Eney and choose Settings > Proactivity, then switch proactivity off. The Privacy Notice says proactive suggestions are enabled by default and can be turned off there. Disable clipboard suggestions separately under Settings > Proactivity > Clipboard, turn off Eney Wand in Settings > Eney Wand, and review any scheduled tasks in the scheduled-task list in your Eney build. Those feature switches do not cancel Setapp billing: cancel through Setapp account settings. Uninstalling Eney alone does not cancel a subscription or stop charges.
Use the right control for the activity you want to stop
Eney has several kinds of proactive or background behavior. Turning off the main Proactivity switch addresses ordinary suggestions, but it is not the same as disabling clipboard prompts, Eney Wand, scheduled tasks, or a Setapp subscription. Use this map before changing settings:

Turn off Eney’s proactive suggestions
- Open Eney on your Mac.
- Open Settings.
- Select Proactivity.
- Switch proactive suggestions off.
This is the primary control for prompts Eney generates from activity on your Mac. The official Privacy Notice describes proactive suggestions as on by default and identifies Settings – Proactivity as the place to turn them off.

After switching it off, allow any suggestion already on screen to close, then wait for the next normal suggestion opportunity. A prompt that was already generated may remain visible briefly until it is dismissed or Eney refreshes its state. If new prompts continue, check the separate Clipboard, Wand, and scheduled-task controls described below; they are not all governed by the same switch.

Disable Eney clipboard suggestions
- Open Eney’s Settings.
- Go to Proactivity > Clipboard.
- Turn clipboard suggestions off.
Clipboard handling is distinct because Eney can keep a short-lived history even when you are not looking at a prompt. The Privacy Notice says the history contains the last 50 copied items, remains in Mac memory, is not written to disk, is not sent to MacPaw, and is cleared when Eney quits.
That memory-only history does not mean copied content can never leave the Mac. Copied text can be sent to Eney’s AI provider when you paste it into an Eney chat and send it, tap a suggestion based on it, or explicitly ask Eney to work with it. Turning off clipboard suggestions prevents the clipboard prompt feature; do not paste sensitive text into a chat if you do not want that interaction to transmit it to the AI provider.
If you want the temporary history gone immediately, quit Eney after disabling the feature. Quitting clears the clipboard history described in the notice; it is not a substitute for turning the feature off if you later reopen Eney.

Disable Eney Wand and its screen access
- Open Eney’s Settings.
- Select Eney Wand.
- Switch the Wand off.
Eney Wand is a separate, on-demand tool. It starts only when you invoke it with its keyboard shortcut, shake the cursor, or choose it from the plus menu. When invoked, it captures a selected area of the screen and requires macOS Screen Recording permission. The Wand is enabled by default, so turning off general Proactivity does not by itself communicate that you no longer want Wand available.
For a stronger privacy boundary, remove Eney’s Screen Recording permission in macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording. With that permission removed, Eney cannot capture the screen for Wand until you grant access again. If you previously granted Accessibility access, review Eney in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility as well. The Privacy Notice says that, when Accessibility access is granted, Eney may read the domain of the active browser tab as part of its on-device analysis. Removing that permission blocks that specific access, although it may also affect other Eney features that depend on Accessibility.
Find and stop scheduled tasks
Scheduled tasks are not the same as a one-time suggestion. They can submit requests automatically at a schedule and use tools such as Mail, Calendar, Reminders, Mac search, connected services, and web search. Their summaries are created by Anthropic, according to Eney’s Privacy Notice.

- Open Eney and locate the area that lists your scheduled tasks.
- Review each task’s schedule, request, and connected tools.
- Disable or remove every task you do not want to run.
- Save the change if your build asks for confirmation, then check the list again to make sure the task is no longer active.
Eney’s published notice does not provide one universal menu path or one global off switch that applies to every version. Do not rely on an assumed label from another build. If you cannot find the list, use the labels and navigation shown in your installed version, and contact Eney support rather than creating a new task or changing unrelated permissions. Removing a scheduled task is the direct way to stop that task’s future requests; disabling Proactivity alone is not documented as a replacement for task-by-task removal.

Understanding the data flow helps you decide whether a single toggle is enough. MacPaw says Eney performs the following analysis on the device when proactive features are enabled:
- File names, types, sizes, and dates in one folder, with Downloads as the default folder.
- File fingerprints used to find duplicates.
- Running processes and current CPU, memory, and disk usage.
- Crash reports.
- Copied text.
- The active app.
- The domain of the active browser tab when Accessibility access has been granted.
- Ready meeting notes.
The notice distinguishes local analysis from a later AI-provider request. The listed information is analyzed on the Mac; data is sent to the AI provider when you tap a suggestion or ask Eney about it in chat. Therefore, turning off proactive suggestions addresses the generation of those prompts, while avoiding an interaction also matters because tapping a prompt or asking a question is the event that sends relevant data to the provider.

This distinction explains why “stop Eney watching my Mac” can require more than one action. Use the Proactivity switch to stop proactive prompts, disable Clipboard suggestions if copied text is the concern, turn off Wand and remove Screen Recording permission if screen capture is the concern, and clear scheduled tasks if automated requests are the concern.

If your goal is to stop Eney from doing anything in the background rather than merely reducing prompts, work through the controls in this order:
- Turn off Settings > Proactivity.
- Turn off Settings > Proactivity > Clipboard.
- Turn off Settings > Eney Wand.
- Remove or disable every scheduled task in the scheduled-task list.
- Quit Eney. Quitting also clears the temporary clipboard history of up to 50 items held in Mac memory.
- Review macOS Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions if you previously granted them and no longer want Eney to have those capabilities.
These steps separate prompt generation, clipboard handling, screen capture, automation, and operating-system permissions. They also let you keep Eney installed for occasional chat use without leaving proactive features enabled. If you want the application removed entirely, uninstall it after completing the settings review; uninstalling is a software-removal action, not a billing cancellation.
Stopping suggestions versus stopping the account charge
Eney’s Terms make a clear distinction between using the app and paying for access. To stop a subscription, delete the Setapp account or cancel the subscription through Setapp account settings, following the account’s cancellation confirmation. Turning off Proactivity, Wand, or scheduled tasks changes functionality but does not change the subscription status.
Uninstalling Eney does not cancel a subscription or stop charges. If you have already removed the app, sign in to Setapp account settings and verify that the subscription is cancelled there. Keep the cancellation confirmation or account status page for your records, and check the next billing statement for the expected result. If a charge appears after the account shows cancellation, contact Setapp support with the account details and confirmation rather than reinstalling Eney.
Troubleshooting when prompts or activity continue
A suggestion appears after Proactivity was turned off
- Confirm that the Proactivity switch actually shows the off state, then close and reopen Eney.
- Check the separate Clipboard setting; copied-text prompts have their own control.
- Check for a scheduled task that may be producing an automated result rather than a proactive suggestion.
- If the item was already displayed before the change, dismiss it and watch for a new prompt instead of judging by the old notification.
Copied text still seems available
- Quit Eney to clear the in-memory history of the last 50 copied items.
- Make sure Clipboard suggestions are off, not just the main Proactivity switch.
- Do not paste sensitive material into an Eney chat or tap a clipboard-based suggestion if you do not want that text sent to the AI provider.
Eney Wand still responds to a shortcut or cursor movement
- Verify that Eney Wand is off in its own settings.
- Remove Screen Recording permission in macOS Privacy & Security if you want to prevent screen capture regardless of the in-app state.
- Quit and reopen Eney after changing the permission so macOS and Eney reload the new access state.
A scheduled request still runs
- Open the current build’s scheduled-task list and inspect every active entry, including tasks connected to Mail, Calendar, Reminders, search, or external services.
- Disable or remove the specific task; do not assume the global Proactivity switch edits existing schedules.
- If your build does not expose the list, ask Eney support for the exact navigation for that version rather than relying on a menu path documented for a different release.
Charges continue after uninstalling
- Open Setapp account settings and cancel the subscription there.
- Verify the account status and retain the confirmation.
- Escalate an unexpected post-cancellation charge to Setapp with that confirmation.
Why these controls matter for Mac users
MacPaw launched Eney for Mac and iPhone on October 15, 2026. The launch announcement says Eney asks before sending a message, changing an event, or moving a file by default, but asking before an action is different from asking before analyzing local context to prepare a suggestion. The separate controls above let you keep approval prompts for actions while deciding whether you want proactive analysis, clipboard prompts, screen capture, or scheduled automation at all.

MacPaw reported that 81% of US Mac users had used an AI tool in the previous three months, based on its July–August 2026 research, and 39% said AI was embedded in how they work. Those figures describe adoption, not a requirement to enable Eney’s proactive features. The practical choice is granular: leave only the features whose convenience outweighs their data access and automation behavior, and disable the rest.
A final check before you walk away
- Proactivity is off.
- Clipboard suggestions are off and Eney has been quit if you want its temporary history cleared.
- Eney Wand is off, with Screen Recording permission removed if screen capture must be impossible.
- No unwanted scheduled tasks remain enabled.
- Setapp cancellation is complete if your goal is to stop payment.
With those decisions made separately, you can tell whether you are stopping a suggestion, blocking a data-access capability, ending automation, removing the app, or cancelling the subscription—the outcomes are not interchangeable.
