In your Google Account activity controls, turn off Search Services History when that option is available. Google identifies Translate as one of the services covered by that control. If your account still shows the older settings, turn off Web & App Activity instead. Then delete earlier Translate activity separately; disabling future collection does not automatically remove records already stored.
There is an important qualification: Google’s help pages distinguish Live Translate from Android’s Transcribe feature, which has an explicit Save transcript button. The documentation does not establish that every Live Translate conversation is automatically retained as a transcript, nor does it describe a single Live Translate switch that prevents all processing. The steps below stop documented account-history saving and remove existing records where Google provides controls.

What “Live conversation transcript” can mean
Google’s products use several different speech features, and they do not all save information in the same place. Identifying the feature you used prevents you from changing the wrong setting.
Live Translate
Live Translate is Google’s live speech-to-speech translation feature. Google documents it separately from Transcribe. The available help does not say that every Live Translate session creates a permanently saved transcript, so you should not assume that a transcript exists merely because a conversation was translated.

Transcribe in Google Translate on Android
Transcribe turns spoken language into text and presents an explicit Save transcript action after a session. Saved items appear in the app’s saved-transcript list. If you do not want an in-app copy, do not tap Save transcript. This is an app-level save action, distinct from account-level Search Services History.
Translate history in your account
When you are signed in, Translate history can synchronize to the cloud. Google says account activity controls govern whether new Search-service history entries can be created. That history can include activity from Translate and, depending on the feature and account settings, related audio or transcript information.
Turn off Search Services History (new account control)
Google is rolling out updated Search settings gradually, so the labels and availability can differ between accounts. Check for the newer control first.

- Open your Google Account and go to its activity controls.
- Look for Search Services History. Google lists Translate among the services covered by this setting.
- Switch Search Services History off.
- If Google offers a transition choice such as Turn off and delete activity, choose it when you also want the associated history removed. Turning the control off without accepting a deletion option only addresses future collection.
- Review the confirmation screen. The wording can vary by account, and a managed or institutional account may restrict which controls you can change.
This setting is the most direct documented account-level way to stop new Translate-related history entries. It does not mean that the translation service stops processing speech while you are using it; it controls whether covered activity is saved to your Google Account history.
Use Web & App Activity if Search Services History is missing
If you cannot find Search Services History, your account may still be on Google’s older activity-controls interface. Google says the new settings are being introduced gradually and that Web & App Activity continues to control Search-services history where the newer control has not arrived.
- Open your Google Account’s Activity controls.
- Find Web & App Activity and turn it off.
- Read the confirmation carefully. The older control can offer to remove existing activity as part of the change; select that option if you want deletion as well as a stop to future entries.
Google Translate’s Android help explains the practical result this way: when Web & App Activity is off, you can find and delete history, but you cannot create new entries. This fallback is an account setting, not a guarantee that an app has no local history on the phone.

Delete Translate activity that is already saved
Stopping future saving and deleting old records are separate jobs. If a previous conversation or translation is already in your account, switch-off alone does not guarantee that it disappears.
Delete from My Activity
- Open My Activity from your Google Account.
- Search or filter for Translate-related activity and identify the item or date range you want removed.
- Delete an individual entry, a selected group, or use the available date-range or all-time deletion control.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Activity can be shown under different descriptions depending on the feature used. Check the date and service before deleting so you do not remove unrelated Google activity. If you use more than one Google Account, repeat the check in each account that was signed in during translation.
Delete from Translate on Android
- Open the Google Translate app and go to its History screen.
- Use the app’s control for an individual translation or for clearing all history.
- Confirm the deletion.
Google notes that cleared history can take up to a couple of hours to disappear from the app. A short delay does not necessarily mean that the deletion failed. If an item remains after that period, check both the app’s History screen and My Activity, because those are separate views.
Delete history on a computer
Translate also provides history-management controls in its computer experience. Open Translate’s history area while signed in, select the relevant entries, and use its delete control. If the account activity is still visible elsewhere, remove it from My Activity as well; deleting an app view does not necessarily remove every account record represented in another view.
Do not save an Android Transcribe transcript
For Android’s Transcribe feature, the documented prevention step is simple: after the transcription ends, do not select Save transcript. Google identifies a saved-transcripts list inside the app, so a transcript that was never saved through that action should not appear in that list.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
If you already used Save transcript, open the saved-transcripts list and inspect the available controls for that item. Google’s published instructions identify where saved transcripts appear but do not document a universal, step-by-step deletion path for every app version. Do not assume that deleting Translate account history will also remove an item stored only in the Transcribe app, or vice versa.

Save Media is not the transcript-history switch
Search Services History includes a separate Save Media setting. That control concerns media associated with Search Services History; it is not a replacement for turning off Search Services History itself.
Leaving Search Services History on while switching off Save Media can still allow text-based history or transcript-related entries to be saved. If your goal is to stop account history, change Search Services History (or Web & App Activity in the older interface) and then delete existing activity. Use Save Media only when you specifically want to control media attached to that history.
Cloud history versus on-device history
| Situation | What can remain | Control to use |
|---|---|---|
| Signed-in Translate with account history enabled | Translate activity can synchronize to Google Account history; the exact activity depends on the feature and account settings. | Turn off Search Services History, or Web & App Activity where the new setting is unavailable, then delete existing activity. |
| Signed-in Translate with account history disabled | Google’s documented account-history entries cannot be newly created through that control, but the app can still have local state or history. | Review and clear the Translate app’s History screen separately. |
| Signed-out use of the Translate app | History remains on the device rather than syncing as signed-in cloud history, according to Google’s Translate help. | Clear the app’s local History screen; signing out is not the same as deleting data already on the device. |
| Android Transcribe after tapping Save transcript | An in-app saved transcript appears in the Saved transcripts list. | Do not tap Save transcript for future sessions; inspect the saved-transcripts list for existing items. |
These are different storage paths. Clearing one does not prove that the others are empty, which is why a privacy check should cover both account activity and the app’s own history.

| Control or location | What it addresses | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Search Services History | Future account history across Google services, including Translate, when the control is available. | It does not prove that speech is not processed during a live translation. |
| Web & App Activity | The older account control that continues to govern Search-service history for accounts without the newer setting. | It does not clear local app history by itself. |
| My Activity deletion | Previously saved Google Account activity, by item, date range, or all time. | It may not remove a transcript saved only inside the Transcribe app. |
| Translate History | Entries displayed in the Translate app or computer experience. | It is not a substitute for checking My Activity. |
| Save transcript | A deliberate in-app save of an Android Transcribe session. | It is not evidence that every Live Translate session is automatically saved. |
| Save Media | Media associated with Search Services History. | Turning it off alone does not disable text or transcript-related history. |
This comparison explains why one tap rarely completes the cleanup. You may need an account-level change, a deletion in My Activity, and a separate check of the Translate or Transcribe app.
A complete cleanup sequence
Use this order when you want the most reliable documented cleanup without deleting unrelated Google data.
- Identify the feature. Decide whether the material came from Live Translate, Transcribe, or ordinary typed or spoken Translate activity.
- Check the signed-in account. Open the account avatar or account switcher and note which Google Account was active when the session occurred.
- Stop future account saving. Turn off Search Services History, or Web & App Activity if the newer setting is absent.
- Accept deletion during the transition if offered. A choice such as Turn off and delete activity combines the future-setting change with removal of the associated history.
- Review My Activity. Search for Translate-related entries and remove the specific item, a date range, or all relevant activity.
- Clear the app view. Delete entries from Translate’s History screen and allow up to a couple of hours for the display to update.
- Check Transcribe separately. If you used Android Transcribe, inspect Saved transcripts and do not use Save transcript for later sessions.
- Verify after waiting. Recheck both My Activity and the app. A record with an earlier timestamp may simply be old activity that still needs a separate deletion.
Deleting all activity is broader than deleting one translation, so choose the narrowest date or item range that meets your privacy goal. Before confirming, read the service and date shown by Google so you do not remove unrelated Search, Maps, or other account records.

Does Google Translate save live conversations automatically?
Google’s available documentation does not support a universal yes-or-no claim. It describes Live Translate as live speech-to-speech translation, while Transcribe has a clearly documented, optional Save transcript action. Search Services History can contain activity from Translate and related audio or transcript information, but the precise records depend on the feature and your account settings.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteTherefore, treat the account controls as a way to stop documented history collection, not as proof that every audio signal is never processed during translation. Translation has to process speech to produce a result; the history setting addresses whether covered activity is retained in your account.
What turning off history does—and does not do
- It stops the covered future account entries. With Search Services History off, Google’s documented control no longer permits new covered history entries through that setting. On accounts using the older interface, Google says that turning Web & App Activity off prevents new entries while still allowing you to find and delete existing history.
- It does not automatically erase past activity. Use the offered Turn off and delete choice or delete records in My Activity and Translate History.
- It does not remove local copies by implication. Signed-out use and disabled account history can still leave on-device history until you clear the app.
- It does not turn off translation processing. Speech must be processed to return a translation. The control concerns saving covered activity to account history.
- It does not replace Save transcript. A Transcribe item deliberately saved in the app is a separate copy that must be checked in the saved-transcripts list.
What to check if records still appear
You changed the setting but new items continue to appear
- Confirm whether your account has both Search Services History and Web & App Activity views. Change the control that your interface actually uses.
- Check that you changed the intended Google Account if several accounts are signed in on the device or browser.
- Allow for interface rollout differences. A setting may be unavailable or labelled differently while Google transitions accounts.
- Look at the timestamp of the item. A record created before the switch was turned off is existing activity and requires deletion.
- Check whether the item is from another Google service rather than Translate. Search Services History covers multiple services, so the service label matters when interpreting a record.
The app still shows old translations
- Clear the Translate app’s History screen; account-level deletion and app-level history are separate views.
- Wait up to a couple of hours for cleared history to disappear from the app.
- Check My Activity to verify whether the item is still in the Google Account, rather than relying only on the app display.
- If you used the computer version, check its history controls as well as the Android app. Different interfaces can present the same account history differently.
You cannot change the control
Institutional Google Accounts, supervised accounts, and managed devices can expose different controls or prevent changes. In that situation, the account administrator’s policies determine which activity settings are available. The documented consumer steps may not apply unchanged.
Privacy checklist
- Identify whether you used Live Translate, Android Transcribe, or ordinary Translate history.
- In Google Account activity controls, turn off Search Services History when present.
- If it is not present, turn off Web & App Activity.
- Choose the available “turn off and delete” option if you want the associated history removed immediately.
- Open My Activity and delete older Translate-related records by item, date range, or all time.
- Clear the Translate app’s History screen separately.
- For Transcribe, avoid Save transcript; inspect Saved transcripts for copies already saved.
- Do not rely on Save Media alone to stop text or transcript history.
- Repeat the review for every Google Account used on the device.
- Recheck after the app has had time to update, remembering that Google documents a delay of up to a couple of hours for cleared history to disappear from the app.
The practical result is a two-part process: disable the account control that permits future history entries, then remove records already present in My Activity or Translate’s own history. Because Google’s help does not establish that every Live Translate session becomes a transcript, describe the outcome accurately as stopping documented history saving and clearing saved records, not as disabling speech processing itself.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I turn off Google Translate history?
Open your Google Account activity controls and turn off Search Services History. If that control is not available on your account, turn off Web & App Activity, which remains the documented fallback while Google rolls out the newer settings. Then delete earlier entries from My Activity or Translate’s History screen; switching off future saving does not by itself erase old records.
Does Google Translate save live conversations?
Google documents Live Translate as live speech-to-speech translation, but its help pages do not say that every session is automatically stored as a transcript. Search Services History can contain Translate activity and, depending on the feature and account settings, related audio or transcript information. Android Transcribe separately offers an explicit Save transcript action.
Best Value
How do I stop future Translate activity from reaching my Google Account?
Turn off Search Services History in Google Account activity controls. If your account still uses the older interface, turn off Web & App Activity. When Google offers Turn off and delete activity, select it if you also want the associated history removed at the same time.
How do I delete saved transcripts?
For account activity, open My Activity, find the Translate-related item or date range, and delete it. You can also clear entries from Translate’s History screen. For Android Transcribe, open the Saved transcripts list and inspect the controls provided by your app version. Google documents where saved transcripts appear but does not publish one universal deletion sequence for every version.
Is Save Media enough to stop transcripts from being saved?
No. Save Media controls media associated with Search Services History. Text-based history or transcript-related entries may still be saved while Search Services History remains on. Turn off Search Services History, or Web & App Activity in the older interface, and delete existing activity separately.
Recommended Free Tools
What happens if I use Translate while signed out?
Google’s Translate help says signed-out app use leaves history on the device rather than syncing as signed-in cloud history. Signing out is therefore not the same as deleting local data. Clear the Translate app’s History screen if you want those on-device entries removed.
Why does a deleted translation still appear?
Google says cleared history can take up to a couple of hours to disappear from the app. The item may also still be visible in My Activity if only the app view was cleared, or in the app if only account activity was deleted. Check both locations after the delay.
Can I stop Google from processing speech during Live Translate?
The documented history controls address whether covered activity is saved to your Google Account; they do not disable the speech processing required to produce a live translation. Google’s help does not document a single Live Translate switch that guarantees no processing or universal transcript retention.
What if Search Services History is not shown?
Google is rolling out the newer settings gradually. Use Web & App Activity in the meantime, because Google says it continues to control Search-services history where Search Services History has not arrived. Menu labels can differ for managed, supervised, or institutional accounts.
The Bottom Line
To stop documented Google Translate history saving, turn off Search Services History; use Web & App Activity if the newer control is unavailable. Delete existing records in My Activity and Translate History, and do not tap Save transcript in Android Transcribe. These steps address account and app history, not the speech processing needed for live translation.
