The fix depends on what “asking to sign in” means for you. If Safari keeps signing you in to a Google Account you didn’t choose, sign out at google.com in Safari and remove the saved account. If Safari keeps forgetting your session and prompting you again, the cause is usually cookies, privacy settings or an outdated browser. There is no single switch that turns Google sign-in off for every service while keeping your sessions intact, so pick the branch below that matches your goal.
First, identify your situation

1. iPhone or iPad: stop Safari from using a Google Account
Google’s Account Help states that when you sign in to a Google app or third-party product with your Google Account, you automatically sign in to that account in Safari. That is why an account can appear in Safari even though you never signed in there yourself.

Sign out of Safari
- Open Safari and go to
www.google.com. - If your profile image appears, tap it and choose Sign out. If the page shows Sign in instead, you are already signed out.
Remove the saved account
- Make sure you are signed out, as above.
- Tap Sign in, then choose Sign in with a different account.
- Tap Remove, select the account, and tap Done.
The trade-off
Signing in to a Google app or a third-party product with that account will sign Safari in again. If the account keeps coming back, sign out in Safari again, or reconsider signing in to that other app or product with the Google Account.
2. Safari keeps signing you out or asking you to sign in again
Here the aim is the opposite: keep the session. Google says cookies, small files stored by sites, can keep you signed in, so work through these checks in order.

Check that cookies are allowed
Review Safari’s cookie and privacy settings on your device. Google directs iPhone and iPad users to their browser’s own support instructions for enabling cookies, and advises waiting five minutes after changing the setting before reopening Safari. If a Google sign-in page says cookies are off, that is the setting to look at.
Try a fresh window
Open a new browser window and try again. A private window will not keep you signed in between sessions, so use it only to test whether the problem is stored data.

Update Safari
Install the latest iOS, iPadOS or macOS update, since Safari updates with the system. Google lists Safari as a supported browser, so an up-to-date copy should work.

Look for things that interfere with sign-in
For sign-in that fails outright, Google suggests checking strict privacy settings, that JavaScript is enabled, browser extensions, and security software. Disable one at a time so you can tell which matters. These are diagnostics, not guaranteed fixes.

Clear data last
Clearing cookies and cache can resolve a corrupted state, but it also removes saved site settings and signs you out of sites. Do not use it as a first step if staying signed in is the goal. If you do, expect to sign in again everywhere.

On a Mac, the setting is in Safari > Settings > Privacy > Prevent cross-site tracking. Apple’s Safari User Guide explains that unless you visit and interact with a third-party content provider as a first-party website, its cookies and website data are deleted.

This is a privacy feature, not a diagnosis of every Google prompt. Google’s own sign-in at google.com is a first-party visit, so it is the better place to test. Sign in at google.com directly and see whether the account state holds. Pages that merely embed Google sign-in (a “Sign in with Google” button or prompt on another site) are a different case, because the third-party rules above are more likely to apply. Turning off tracking protection entirely is not recommended as a blanket fix, since it weakens your privacy across all sites.

Which fix for which problem
- Unwanted account appears in Safari (iPhone/iPad): sign out at google.com, then remove the account.
- Account returns after removal: you signed in again through a Google app or third-party product.
- Constant sign-in prompts: check cookies, update Safari, test extensions, and clear data only if needed.
- Prompts mainly on other sites (Mac): test google.com directly before touching the cross-site tracking setting.
