Check for software updates in the Bose app next. Reset instructions differ by model, so identify your exact headphones before using any reset steps.
1. Identify your Bose headphone model
Find the model name in the Bose app or on the product label. Bose’s pairing, settings, and reset instructions vary by model, so do not assume a button sequence for one product applies to another.

2. Rule out distance and interference
Move your phone close to the headphones and test in a spot with fewer walls, doors, and nearby electronics between them. Bose advises keeping QuietComfort Ultra Headphones within 33 feet (10 meters) of the Bluetooth device; that is product guidance, not a guaranteed range in every environment or for every Bose model. If you suspect interference, test with one nearby wireless device at a time.

3. Check for a second connected device
Some Bose headphones support multipoint, which connects them to two devices. A notification or other activity on the secondary device may interrupt audio from your phone.

- Temporarily turn Bluetooth off on the second device, or disconnect the headphones from it.
- If the connection becomes stable, check the Bose app for the multipoint setting and turn it off as a diagnostic. Its location and availability depend on the model and software.
- Test audio and calls from your phone again. Disabling multipoint means the headphones will not stay connected to the second device at the same time.
If audio switches devices when a notification arrives, test this step first.
4. Reboot and rebuild the Bluetooth pairing
- Turn the headphones off and back on, then restart your phone or other Bluetooth device.
- In the phone’s Bluetooth settings, forget or remove the Bose headphones. If duplicate entries appear with “LE” in the name, remove those too when clearing the phone-side pairing.
- Use the Bose instructions for your exact model to clear remembered Bluetooth devices if the phone-side removal alone does not help.
- Pair the headphones with the phone again using the model’s pairing instructions.
Removing and rebuilding the pairing changes saved connection information, but it is a reversible troubleshooting step. If the problem happens only with one phone, try connecting the headphones to another Bluetooth device to help isolate whether the original phone or its settings are involved.

5. Check for Bose software updates
Open the Bose app and check whether an update is available for your headphones. Keep them connected to the app and within Bluetooth range while the update transfers. Update availability and firmware are model-specific; for example, Bose listed firmware version 8.3.0 for QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) on 13 August 2026. Bose listed app version 13.2.7 for iOS and Android on 25 August 2026. These dated versions are examples, not universal requirements.
6. Check model-specific symptoms before escalating
Disconnections while charging
Bose says Bluetooth is disabled while QuietComfort Ultra Headphones are charging. Disconnect the charging cable before testing a Bluetooth connection. This detail applies to that model, not necessarily to other Bose headphones.

Connection still drops across devices
If the headphones continue disconnecting with more than one Bluetooth device after rebooting, pairing again, and checking for updates, follow Bose’s troubleshooting page for your model or contact Bose support. Consult the model-specific instructions before clearing headphone memory or resetting: for example, the QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) reset process involves connecting a USB-C cable to a power source, while other models use different actions. That is not a universal reset procedure or a reason to buy a cable before checking your model’s guidance.
